Red face Homeless Dog Mistaken For Trash Gets Makeover

http://www.evolveascend.com/latestbl...jennifersodini

A group in Canada called the Quebec Society for the Protection of Animals found the dog in the gallery above wandering the streets. He was in such dire straits, that he was first mistaken for a pile of trash because he had so much matted, dirty fur, it was almost impossible to be able to tell he was a dog, let alone an absolutely adorable one.

After extensive grooming, they revealed a beautiful little boy underneath all the disarray and disheveled fur. Gandhi had a quote that stated: “Where there is love, there is life”. Such is the case for this heart warming tale of rescue and recovery.

He was rescued by a bunch of 'Buffalo Soldiers' after 'Three little birds' told them where to look!
Lovely little fellow though isn't he?

The dog looks a bit shocked after shaving off all of that dreads.

i have a shih Tzu myself that I love to pieces

but a question,

I assume it is impossible for these dogs to grow their hair out without grooming because they get matted. why would nature design them that way? doesn't it contradict evolution?

If humans intervened and 'mix bred' them from another breed, then yes, it would have no evolutionary benefit at all. A case of let Mother Nature do her thing, she knows best.

Of course if they are not bred by humans, then my hypothesis is wrong

EDIT: I think my hypothesis is correct though

"The Shih Tzu is said to have descended from crossing the Lhasa Apso or Tibetan mountain dog and Pekingese, in the city of Peking in the 17th century. "

Lovely little dog and a nice thread.
Shi Tzu's have an undercoat like cotton wool that turns into slabs of felt if you don't keep on top of grooming.
Maybe Tibetan Terriers are similar.
This happy little chap does look to have more than a little Tibetan Terrier about him.
