Maybe all the good guys are being taken out in some heavenly cull. It's the only way to stop the archons. Get all the good souls in heaven then blow up the planet.

I'm game.

I heard someone else say the exact opposite to that; in that he was very down to earth and used to have great parties for his kids!

The thing I notice about a lot of the people who've passed on is they were all at the top of their careers while being relatively old. The emphasis shifted more towards youth in the 90s I think. You couldn't imagine some of the young presenters and comedians today having the same high profile once they hit middle age, or long before.

Most likely. Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker had been working in theatre & radio since the 1950s, and many of the established names in the 70s had established themselves in radio and theatre first in that post-ww2 era.

There are more circles within circles now. In the 60s and 70s it was a little easier for scriptwriters to pitch ideas directly to tv producers, even half-baked ideas (Monty Python was one of them). That started to change in the 90s.

All those people who say 'life begins at 85'. They're conspicuous by their absence, the nerve.
Yep, even Alan could pitch ideas in the 80s.

I've been watching repeats of 'Sorry' on YouTube, that show was really funny! ''language Timothy!!''. Ronnie was so great in it, so was Barbara Lott.

A friend of mine met him at Allied Arts Lodge about 10 years ago and said he was exactly the same in real life as on the telly.

It's probably true that you do hear stories about certain famous people being totally the opposite of what they are on-screen/radio, often allegedly being a complete arsehole in real life and big headed, but I suppose on the other side of the coin you hear people talk about how wonderful, kind, charming and nice they were. Who's right? no idea, but maybe people just happen to run into these people when they were having a bad day. It happens to us all, we all behave a little childish, selfish and rude from time to time. As you get older those traits become more apparent. Old people are (imo) the worse offenders for being rude and ignorant.

Old school stars we grew up with very rarely receive criticism and/or controversy or negative comments after they pass away, which is often completely the opposite of the shower of shite so-called young talent we have today. Yes I suppose there's the endless talk about Ronnie Barker having been involved in tax evasion and being a freemason, etc, but they're just mostly unproven. Nothing that will make most people really irate. The Two Ronnies, for instance, were national British institutions. Can you imagine Ant and Dec being the same?. When they're gone I can imagine to massive abusive comments on forums and youtube videos calling them all kinds.
