Weed Fruit Roll-up

https://theweedscene.com/weed-fruit-roll-up/

I’m going to share with you my recipe for Strawberry flavored Rhubarb and Red Pear fruit leather. This is a hit with patients who are looking for something different and even a little healthy to eat as a medible. Because this recipe contains rhubarb as one of the main ingredients I have added some additional sugar to counteract the tartness found in the rhubarb. Don’t worry though, if you want to convert this you can easily substitute any fruit in the amounts listed in the recipe. If you use a sweet fruit in season you may leave the sugar out entirely or you can reduce it to taste. You may also substitute any desired sweetener for your dietary needs. While fruit leather may sound daunting or complicated it’s actually quite simple to make. Let’s get started!

What you will need:

A large stock pan
2 greased cookie sheets with sides
a blender (I like the stick type blender but you can use a counter top unit as well)
2 Cups of coarsely chopped Rhubarb
2 Cups of coarsely chopped Red D’anjo Pear with peel on
1 1/3 Cup of water
1 package strawberry flavor kool-aid (unsweetened)
2.5 grams of decarboxylated kief (or add more or less for desired potency)
parchment paper for wrapping
kitchen shears
zip lock bags or other airtight container for storage

.....

Make cannabis LEGAL for MS patients in the UK who get no pain relief from conventional drugs, charity urges
The MS society says evidence shows cannabis can dampen pain in MS patients
It issued a report asking the Government to relax its drug ban for such sufferers
Current laws mean those caught in possession face up to five years in prison

'NO INTENTION' TO MAKE WEED LEGAL

It comes after the Government announced it has 'no intention' of making cannabis legal in the UK.

Despite a growing body of evidence showing the herb to be safe, possession will remain punishable with jail.

Experts slammed the Home Office's controversial decision, describing it as a 'missed opportunity' to legalise the herb.

But ministers pointed to various studies that have shown cannabis to be detrimental to human health, with significant links to schizophrenia.

Such worrying associations have existed for decades, and were responsible the decision to reclassify the drug to a Class B nine years ago.

In recent years, Spain, South Africa, Uruguay and several states in the US have made cannabis legal for recreational use.

Pressure has been increasing on the UK to follow suit and update its drug policy, with many citing weed's medicinal properties.

Arrests in connection with rhino poaching top the 350 mark

More proof of the Kruger National Park’s “attraction” for poachers is that well over half of arrests nationally in connection with wildlife, particularly rhino, poaching in the first half of this year were in Mpumalanga.

Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa told a briefing in Cape Town this week that 359 alleged poachers and traffickers were arrested nationally.

“The number of arrests inside Kruger totalled 90 with a further 112 arrests effected in Mpumalanga, the province adjacent to the game reserve”.

She reported a drop of 13 in the number of rhino carcasses found nationally in the first six months of the year, adding her department and government was “acutely aware that in order to make a real impact on rhino poaching, arrests must translate into successful prosecutions”.

Part of this effort has seen the Skukuza Regional Court reinstated and running since March with, according to the Minister, “a number of successful prosecutions” to its name.

Happy half-birthday Fiona the baby hippo -- we made you a song!
'Team Fiona' sung to the tune of 'My Sharona'

CINCINNATI -- So what do you get a baby hippo adored by the world for her half-birthday? An international No. 1 hit song re-written in her honor, of course.

At least, that’s what we here at 9 On Your Side and WCPO decided to get Fiona, the superstar hippopotamus at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Since March, we have been working to create a song called “Team Fiona” to the tune “My Sharona,” the 1979 smash hit by The Knack. Berton Averre, a founding member of The Knack and the band’s lead guitarist, even helped us get permission to use the tune.

We learned that show business can be slow business, and we missed little Fiona’s six-month birthaversary by a few days.

But if anyone deserves an extended celebration, it’s the little hippo that has captured hearts around the globe.

So here you go, Fiona! We hope you and all your legions of fans enjoy the song and all the video of adorable you.

Photos: Ton of illegal ivory set for destruction

ALBANY — The state Department of Environmental Conservation on Thursday displayed more than a ton of ivory seized during investigations of the illegal trade.
The ivory will be smashed next week in New York's Central Park. The trinkets, statues, and jewelry were confiscated during investigations carried out in recent years.
The crush is organized by DEC, the Wildlife Conservation Society and Tiffany & Co. to send a message that the state and its partners are dedicated to eradicating the illegal ivory trade in New York, a wildlife crime that threatens to wipe out Africa's elephants
Since 1989, 22 countries and territories have destroyed more than 270 metric tons of confiscated ivory, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society.

GOP Lawmakers Block Popular Bill To Allow Medical Marijuana For Veterans

By Aaron Kesel

Yesterday, Republican lawmakers blocked a bipartisan proposal designed to allow Veterans Affairs doctors to recommend medical marijuana as a substitute to big pharma’s opioids where the drug is legal for veterans.

The House Committee stopped the “Veterans Equal Access” amendment from moving to debate on the House floor by keeping the measure out of the VA funding bill for next year.

One of the sponsors of the bill, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore), said in a statement he was “bitterly disappointed” on the failure to amend the proposed legislation. Confused about its failure despite bipartisan support of 9 Democrats and 9 Republicans Blumenauer said “somehow the 13 member House Rules Committee decided it wasn’t going to allow this amendment.”

“This is a subject that has gained a great deal more attention and momentum,” Blumenauer told McClatchy. “More people recognize that the VA has really failed our veterans when it has come to pain management, opioids, and opioid dependency.”

They don't want to know about food (including and perhaps especially herbs) as medicine.

Washington State Plans to Kill Wolves So You Can Keep Eating Meat

According to a press release by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, state officials plan to kill members of a wolf pack to stop them from doing what they do naturally: hunt for food.

Director Jim Unsworth authorized his staff to “take lethal action” against the Smackout wolf pack, which has injured or killed cows on four occasions since last September.

Sadly, killing wildlife to protect livestock is all too common. The meat industry has millions of innocent wild animals killed every year. You see, the industry encroaches on wildlife habitats. In fact, almost half the land of the lower 48 states is used to raise animals for food.

In 2013, Wildlife Services killed more than 2 million animals, including bears, coyotes, wolves, foxes, and prairie dogs. Last year, Washington state officials killed an entire wolf pack consisting of six adults and five pups after the wolves killed a few cows.

It should come as no surprise that wildlife populations have been steadily declining. The World Wildlife Fund found that animal populations declined by 58 percent between 1970 and 2012, with losses expected to reach 67 percent by 2020.

80-Year-Old Tortoise Becomes Mom To 8 Babies, Couldn’t Be More Proud To Show Them Off

Updated June 1, 2017

Did you know that when a woman over the age of thirty five becomes pregnant, it’s known as a geriatric pregnancy? Thirty five seems quite a bit too young to start using the word geriatric, but the term applies to the point in the average fertility span of a woman. But if you want to talk about a true geriatric pregnancy, this story fits the bill. At the Zurich Zoo, an eighty year old tortoise just surprised all the zoologists on staff by giving birth to nine babies. Check out this story to learn more about this amazing turtle mama and see pictures of those adorable little tortoise babies.

Egg Company Reports $74M Loss Due to Vegan Alternatives
By Anna Starostinetskaya | July 29, 2017

Giant egg company Cal-Maine Foods' CEO says vegan alternatives are responsible for the company's first big loss of profits in over a decade.

Large egg company Cal-Maine Foods (CMF) released its earnings report for 2017, and the numbers looked dire. For the first time in over one decade, the company reported a loss of $74.3 million for the last fiscal year. The company’s profit plummeted by $24.5 million in its fourth-quarter alone—a stark contrast to the $367,000 that the company lost in the same time period last year. CMF’s CEO Adolphus (“Dolph”) Baker attributed the dramatic decline to the growth of the egg alternatives industry, which includes vegan-friendly items such as flax, tofu, and prepared products that contain potato starch and tapioca. In 2015, the avian flu swept across chickens exploited in the egg industry, causing many egg suppliers to mass-slaughter birds.

54-Year-Old Woman Kicked Out Of Her House For Living Off-Grid

POSTED ON JULY 31, 2017

http://www.naturalblaze.com/2017/07/...-off-grid.html

Robin Speronis has gained national notoriety for her highly public battle to live off-grid.
Although it’s impossible to be certain, it is estimated that between 180,000 and 250,000 people in the United States are living off-grid, disconnected from public utilities and using only self-reliant systems. One highly controversial off-gridder in Cape Coral, Florida, Robin Speronis, a 54-year-old widow, has gained national attention for fighting her local government to stay off-grid.

Speronis’s off-grid story, as reported by Bloomberg, began in 2010 when her husband died of a degenerative neurological condition at age 84. Caring for him until his death left Speronis low on funds and in mortgage default. Despite zero prior experience outdoors or camping, Speronis moved into an RV on a wooded rental property.
