Default Dudley Simpson RIP

Dudley Simpson has died at the age of 95. His music on Dr Who and Blakes 7 was brilliant and I am a fan of those two shows. His other credits included The Tomorrow People and The Brothers. The news of his death brought a tear to my eye as I am a big fan of the music on Dr Who and I am a bit of an expert on Dr Who music and I have a big collection of Dr Who incidental music on tapes and CDs.

That resolving chord at the end of the "Blakes 7" intro theme and end credits, ALWAYS sent shivers up my spine! The Power of Sound!
RIP Dudley Simpson

He was the soundtrack to a lot of TV I grew up with. He's always the first person I think of when I think of Incidental music.
And not a word from the BBC. Their shows would have had a lot missing without his input.

Definitely my era for television shows and soundtracks. His music was perfect for Dr Who and many others.

Make whatever you are doing over the next five minutes with a score for another Doctor Who story.

Really kicks off in the last ten seconds!

And here is my favourite theme he did. The end credits of Blake's 7.

He lived to a ripe old age and brought pleasure to many. What a great epitaph. I loved Blakes 7 and still watch it every now and again. Did he score the incidental music for the season four episode 'Gold' with Roy Kinnear? It was set on a space-going pleasure cruiser called the 'Space Princess'. The passengers were all drugged and the music was very trippy.
