It got me thinking as to why the logo/emblem was a swan in chains and what the symbolism may be.

On researching swan symbology on the net it appears that it symbolises many things going back to ancient times. The main thread of symbology was that the swan represents,

self-transformation, intuition, sensitivity, the soul.

is a symbol of light, both as a feminine symbol of the moon and a masculine symbol of the sun.

symbolize sensitivity, love, and beauty.

It symbolizes perfection, beauty, and grace. For a bearer of the swan it represents a lover of poetry and harmony, or a learned person.

The symbolism of the swan embodies love, purity, and chance.

Hamsa means white swan. The swan, of course, is an ancient symbol of spiritual grace and purity.

These above were all copied and pasted from the net, not my words, but it appears the swan symbolises very positive things so i ask myself, why the chains.

The swan is also a royal guarded bird of the crown.

The lyrics to Marc Bolan and T Rex "Ride a white swan" are below and interesting.

Ride A White SwanRide it on out like a bird in the sky way,
Ride it on out like you were a bird,
Fly it all out like an eagle in a sunbeam
Ride it all out like you were a bird.
Wear a tall hat like a Druid in the old days,
Wear a tall hat and a tattooed gown,
Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane,
Wear your hair long babe, you can`t go wrong
Catch a bright star and place it on you forehead,
Say a few spells and there you go.
Take a black cat and sit it on you shoulder
And in the morning you`ll know all you know.

They certainly are occultists in many ways and the use of "Beltane" reminded me that i had seen "Beltane " before in John Todds writings below.

I'm not sure what this all means but am hopeful someone can enlighten me with some info or their thoughts.

Whilst looking at this it threw up the question as to why Buckingham palace was called Buckingham palace.
I live near Buckingham (the town) from where the county of Buckinghamshire got its name and have often wondered about this.
Buckingham is now a pretty small town compared with other counties capitals like Northampton, Warwick, Bedford, Worcester, Gloucester etc. , so am interested in the history if anyone has any info.
Last night when I was running with a buddy of mine. We saw a cloud formation that looked exactly like a giant swan in the sky. The coolest part, was that the Moon, which was pretty full, made up the eye of the bird. It was pretty thrilling to see.

Smile family shield =)

I can not really hide my fascination about the swans

particularly the arms of my family, is just a swan. (von der becke)

since that is registered in German history. at least since 1600. but who knows
really since when it was adopted. at least not know.

"Artemis the Hanged One is one of the virgin Goddesses fertility epitaph’s. The practice of hanging dolls from fruit trees to ensure good crops was recounted in Crete, Mycenae, Rhodes and Arcadia (Graves, The Greek Myths 298). The sanctuary to Artemis the Hanged One was at Condyleia in Arcadia.

This connection between sacred fertility and tree worship is ancient – think of the Trees of Life in various mythologies like Yggdrasil of the Nordic Eddas and those of knowledge in the Judeo-Christian Garden of Eden.

Frequently it is assumed that because Artemis was a virgin goddess she is not connected to fertility or growth. In fact this is one of the divine paradoxes in mythic figures for not only was Artemis understood as the fertile energy of flora and fauna but she was also invoked by women in childbirth by her name Eileithyia.

“O Lovely One [Artemis], you are so gracious to the tender whelps of fierce lions, and take delight in the suckling young of every wild creature that roams the field.” – Aeschylus, Agamemnon 140

“[Artemis] over births presiding, and thyself a maid, to labour pangs imparting ready aid: dissolver of the zone, and wrinkled care [midwifes].” – Orphic Hymn 36 to Artemis"
