Default Flying dogs

I've posted this idea in one physics forum and one RC flying forum ...thought you might like it ..

It's in the have a laugh section ...but I'm deadly serious...

It's been puzzling me why no one yet marketed a strap on flying/hovering suit for small dogs??? ( the owner would fly this remotely like a model aircraft)

I'm sure you are all aware of these drones ....

The good models have extremely sophisticated on board control , taking the skill out of flying , making them impossible to crash (essential for flying doggies)

These drones get their lift from propellers ... unsuitable for our purposes , we have to use ducted fans , much safer and more compact , developing a powerful jet of air .....

A mid size fan is 70mm dia , weighs 220 gm, trust 2.5Kg (wt) , electrical input 1.7Kw

Four of these fans can lift 10Kgs ...

That's 3kgs li-po batteries , 1 kg for 4 ducted fans inc motors , 1 kg other equipment ...5 kg dog .... flying time approx 3 mins

One dog approx 5kg

There is no question the tech we have can achieve this , just needs someone to do it .

The flying pack would be a strap on jacket turning the dog into something like a harrier jump jet ....

The dog would love it !! The first person to bring this to market would be a millionaire overnight ... selling for about $500 each ...

Then would follow flight simulators which would teach the dog to fly themselves !! the dog would be trained , turning head to right flys to the right , lowering head slows down ...etc.

Imagine the sky full of flying dogs , going where they like

Beyond doubt we will see flying dogs !! the idea is so insane it has to happen .

One youtube of a flying dog and the idea will spread like wildfire.

The 1.7kw of juice required, negates your idea, as a flight of fancy.

Jet engines are the way to go.

Four engines so that's 6.8Kw not 1.7Kw

This is a li-po 11.1v 6Ahr rechargeable battery , that's 66.6 Watt hours

discharged in 3mins it delivers 1.32Kw so 5 of these batteries gives 3 minutes flying time....

Jet engines are heavier , expensive, extremely loud and exhaust gas is very hot.

I thought you were going to start a conversation on this.

Are you thinking of shooting your dog to the sky?

Some people do this.

Look at this cute dog.

Your maths and economics vs possible market are flawed.

This however.

or this, have potential.

Dog owners...
You understand dogs...right?

I am getting licked by my neighbour's miniture dogs.
I feel rather blessed or something but.... my next door neighbour's dog came between my legs and started licking my right leg. The owner moved her away and she came back again.

Do you think it's all that bacon I eat?
