That's not even peelng back the first layer of the onion though is it. What was behind communism, it's ideology, who were it's big players and inventors, and why? ... one is then faced with a whole list of questions. Part of the puzzle goes back to Catherine the great and the pale of settlement founded in 1791. The Pale of Settlement was part of the Russian Empire where Russia's Jewish population was required to live and work between the late 18th and early 20th century. Jews were exciled and forbidden by imperial decree to live among Russian Gentiles, because of unethical Jewish practices and usury.
