We are in the middle of peak oil, once the oil production falls it will affect the food production negatively as the agriculture is hugely dependent on fossil fuels.
We are basically eating oil today, and oil has made our overpopulation possible for the last century.

Once you remove the oil we won't have a natural food supply to feed 7 billion humans. Nature knows that and that's why it is screwing us with natural disasters, pandemics, drought and famine.
