I totally agree with this and the fluoride ion is difficult to remove. Fluorine the element from which fluoride comes from. Tends to produce either very reactive or very stable compounds so it would seem as though research was done beforehand to deliberately have this effect. It also interesting to note that PTFE the stuff Teflon is made from is one of the most inert polymers known even being used in the piping where hot gaseous nitric acid is being pumped. In the past we thought of Teflon as being very safe now we know that is not the case and may even be carcinogenic
