Frankenstein is Hungry (1935) HD ..
After the end of the war with Germany in May 1945, a program was initiated to bring to the United States a number of scientist and engineers who had been at the center of Germany's advanced military technologies.. The largest and best-known activity was called Operation Paperclip.. In August 1945, 127 missile specialists led by Wernher von Braun signed work contracts with the U.S. Army's Ordnance Corps. Most of them had worked on the V-2 missile development under von Braun at Peenemünde.. Von Braun and the other Germans were sent to Fort Bliss, Texas, joining the Army's newly formed Research and Development Division Sub-office (Rocket)..

Wernher von Braun was born in Wirsitz, in the Province of Posen, now called Wyrzysk in Poland, but then a part of Prussia and the German Empire.. He was the 2nd of 3 sons..He belonged to a noble family, inheriting the German title of Freiherr (equivalent to Baron) von Braun was an accomplished amateur pianist who could play Beethoven and Bach from memory..Beginning in 1925, Braun attended a boarding school at Ettersburg Castle near Weimar, where he did not do well in physics and mathematics.. His attitude toward the National Socialist regime in the late 1930s and early 1940s is difficult to understand..Yet, he also wrote that "to us, Hitler was still only a pompous fool with a Charlie Chaplin moustache" and that he perceived him as "another Napoleon" that was "wholy without scruples, a godless man who thought himself the only god"..Braun joined the SS horseback riding school on 1 November 1933 as an SS-Anwärter.. He left the following year..In 1940, he joined the SS and was given rank in the Allgemeine SS and was issued with membership number 185,068..

By that time, the British and Soviet intelligence agencies were aware of the rocket program and von Braun's team at Peenemünde.. Over the nights of August 17 and 18, 1943 RAF Bomber Command's Operation Hydra dispatched raids on the Peenemünde camp consisting of 596 aircraft and dropped 1,800 tons of explosives..The first combat A-4, renamed the V-2 (Vergeltungswaffe 2 "Retaliation/Vengeance Weapon 2") for propaganda purposes, was launched toward England on September 7, 1944, only 21 months after the project had been officially commissioned..This, apparently, made him rather unhappy and, after hearing the news from London, he said that "the rocket worked perfectly, except for landing on the wrong planet"..On May 2, 1945, upon finding an American private from the U.S. 44th Infantry Division, von Braun's brother and fellow rocket engineer, Magnus, approached the soldier on a bicycle, calling out in broken English: "My name is Magnus von Braun. My brother invented the V-2...The American high command was well aware of how important their catch was: von Braun had been at the top of the Black List, the code name for the list of German scientists and engineers targeted for immediate interrogation by U.S. military experts... say you came here of your own account.. No-one sent you, no-one knows you're here?..I will explain everything, before sunrise..Perhaps someone that asked too many questions..You mean because it has never yet been proved that the past and the present and the future are not one and the same thing?..
