Arrow All Seeing Redeemer

The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Latin: Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris – C.Ss.R).. is a Roman Catholic missionary congregation founded by Saint Alphonsus Liguori at Scala, near Amalfi, Italy, for the purpose of labouring among the neglected country people in the neighbourhood of Naples..Members of the Congregation, Catholic priests, and consecrated religious brothers, are known as Redemptorists, who are often associated with the image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and globally minister in more than 77 countries around the world..Terence Clarke, the chief steward on the day, was sentenced to se7en years' imprisonment for assaulting Corporal Wood..A nationalist MP was later to tell the House of Commons: ‘What happened to the two soldiers was . . . the nearest thing to the crucifixion of Christ that one could see.’..The murders of Wood and Howes were the culmination of a fortnight of mayhem during which blood had fed blood..At its end, eight people were dead and 60 injured.. One massacre was averted by a triple killing, but the result was another atrocity. That in turn led to the double lynching of the British corporals — an act of such barbarity that the wider world awoke to the true horror of the ‘Troubles’...

The two men were driven less than 200 yards to waste ground near Penny Lane (South Link), just off the main Andersonstown Road.. There they were shot several times.. Wood was shot 6 times, twice in the head and 4 times in the chest. He was also stabbed 4 times in the back of the neck and had multiple injuries to other parts of his body.. Reid had been following the perpetrators in an attempt to intervene and save Howes and Wood; when he arrived at the scene he gave the last rites to the two men..On 2 August 88, Lance-Corporal Roy Butler of the Ulster Defence Regiment was shot and killed in Belfast with one of the guns taken from the corporals..A search revealed that the men were British Army soldiers.. Redemptorist priest Father Alec Reid, who later played a significant part in the peace process leading to the 98 Good Friday Agreement, intervened and attempted to get someone to call for an ambulance, but was dragged away and threatened with shooting if he didn't stand up; he was then pulled away from the men.. The corporals were further beaten and thrown over a high wall to be put into a waiting black taxi.. It was driven off at speed, while camera crews captured one of its ginger haired passengers waving a fist in the air...

London growler circa

According to photographer David Cairns, although photographers were having their films taken by the IRA, he was able to keep his by quickly leaving the area after taking a photograph of Reid kneeling beside the almost naked body of Howes, administering the last rites..Cairns are used as trail markers in many parts of the world, in uplands, on moorland, on mountaintops, near waterways and on sea cliffs, as well as in barren deserts and tundra..Cairns' photograph was subsequently designated one of the best pictures of the past 50 years by Life magazine..Cairns is a regional city, encompassing smaller townships, in the far north of Queensland, Australia, founded 1876.. It later developed into a railhead and major port for exporting sugar cane, gold and other metals, minerals and agricultural products from surrounding coastal areas and the Atherton Tableland region..Reflections of Hope Award by the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum..., don't say a fucking word to me.. I'll get up and I'll bury this telephone in your head..Jack,you're a grown man..You're in control of your own words...
