Last Updated: Wednesday, 2 February, 2005, 07:27 GMT..Police are following up two new leads in the case of a schoolgirl who was murdered in 1984, after an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme..Lisa Hession, 14, was found strangled 500 yards from home in Leigh, Greater Manchester.

Police officers received 27 calls after the programme was broadcast from Manchester on Tuesday..

Some of them were from women concerned about the behaviour of their husbands or boyfriends when Lisa was murdered. Lisa's mother, Christine, 59, appeared on the show along with Det Insp Jeff Arnold of Greater Manchester Police..The case is one of more than 100 being reviewed by GMP's Cold Cases Unit..Lisa and her boyfriend had been at a friend's house on the evening of 8 December.

At 2215 GMT, she left her friends behind and began the familiar 15-minute walk home to Bonneywell Road alone.. It was a route she had taken many times and it was well used by other people.. She never made it home and was discovered just before midnight in an alleyway...

FLEMING, Kieran (17th Ann). In proud and loving memory of Volunteer Kieran Fleming, Derry Brigade, IRA, who died on active service on 2 December 1984... Always remembered by aunt Betty and family..

DOHERTY, Danny (17th Ann). In proud and loving memory of Volunteer Danny Doherty, Derry Brigade, IRA, who died on active service on 6 December 1984.. Always remembered by Betty Fleming and family..

FLEMING, William (17th Ann). In proud and loving memory of my dear son Volunteer William Fleming, Derry Brigade, IRA, who died on active service on 6 December 1984.. Loved always by his mother..

On Saturday at 2.00pm there will be a commemoration at the republican plot in the City Cemetery to mark the 30th Anniversary of William Fleming and Danny Doherty who were ambushed by the SAS in the grounds of Gransha on December 6, 1984..William Fleming was 19 years-old and from Gobnascale when he and 23 year-old Daniel Doherty from Creggan, were shot dead by the SAS in the grounds of Gransha Hospital on December 6, 1984..Daniel Doherty was married and had an infant son at the time of his death..It is thought that both William and Daniel were travelling on motorcycle when they were shot dead..Sinn Fein president, Gerry Adams and then Assemblyman, Martin McGuinness both attended the funerals...

Almost every building at a former mental hospital has been shut before a new facility opens onsite with a new name..The number of patients resident at Gransha has dropped dramatically from 600 people in the 1960s to just 14 today...

Annette McGavigan (1957 – 6 September 1971) was a 14-year-old girl fatally wounded by a gunshot in crossfire between British soldiers and the IRA on 6 September 1971...
