SHAGADELIC STEWPOT; Groovy, Baby. How DJ Ed Stewart Romanced His Blonde Mistress with Austin Powers Speak. And Just a Little Bit of Help from Viagra

The Mail on Sunday (London, England)
Byline: CHRISTINE CHALLAND

VETERAN Radio 2 disc jockey Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart was in the grip of a full-blown crisis. At 63, his 30-year marriage - regarded as one of the most solid in the fickle world of showbusiness - was collapsing around his ears.

His Italian wife Chiara, 15 years his junior and the mother of his two grownup children, had embarked on a passionate affair with one of his closest friends.

Stewart had even been suffering the indignity of having his wife's lover live under his own roof in Dorset. He needed a shoulder to cry on.

Salvation came by chance during an unscheduled overnight stop on a trip to the West Country.

Finding no room at a local motel, he pulled into an unpretentious bed-and-breakfast near Okehampton in Devon run by an attractive blonde - former model Sue Collins, who was known in her Sixties catwalk heyday as Sparrow.

From the moment he carried his overnight bag into the house from the big four-wheel-drive vehicle he had parked in her drive, Sue instinctively knew that behind Stewart's perma-tanned 'Smashy and Nicey' facade and easy smile lay a deeply insecure and lonely man who had no one to unburden his troubles upon.

What Sue, 53, could never have imagined on that cold evening in February last year was that their sudden bonding over an omelette and a bottle of red wine would lead to a yearlong affair - and her first eye-opening experience of the effects of the anti-impotence drug Viagra.

Sue recalls: 'Ed struck me as someone who was so unhappy with his personal life that he just needed someone to trust so that he could share it.
There was instant chemistry between us and because we're from the same era, the Sixties, we just hit it off. …

Seems very suspicious to me , starting a relationship with a 13 year old girl when your 34 years old, then marrying her as soon as he could!!!
