Lightbulb Mandela

Quote:
Mandela was born on 18 July 1918 in the village of Mvezo in Umtata, then a part of South Africa's Cape Province.. Given the forename Rolihlahla, a Xhosa term colloquially meaning "troublemaker", in later years he became known by his clan name, Madiba.. His patrilineal great-grandfather, Ngubengcuka, was ruler of the Thembu people in the Transkeian Territories of South Africa's modern Eastern Cape province.. One of this king's sons, named Mandela, became Nelson's grandfather and the source of his surname.. Because Mandela was only the king's child by a wife of the Ixhiba clan, a so-called "Left-Hand House", the descendants of his cadet branch of the royal family were morganatic, ineligible to inherit the throne but Recognised as hereditary royal councillors..Qamata is the most prominent G in the folklore of the Xhosa people of south-eastern Africa. Qamata is the child of the sun god, Thixo, and the earth goddess, Jobela..Prominent Zulu sangoma and writer Credo Mutwa has recounted a legend of how, when Qamata wanted to create dry land, the sea dragon Nkanyamba interfered. Qamata's mother, Jobela, created 4 giants to help him in work and battle Nkanyamba. When Qamata's task was completed and enough dry land had been recovered, the giants were turned to stone so they could continue to keep watch over the land. The southernmost of them, Umlindi Wemingizimu ("watcher of the south") became Table Mountain, Near Cape Town, South Africa...

Mandela was a controversial figure for much of his life.. Denounced as a communist terrorist by critics, he nevertheless gained international acclaim for his activism, having received more than 250 honours, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Soviet Order of Lenin. He is held in deep respect within South Africa, where he is often referred to by his Xhosa clan name, Madiba, or as Tata ("Father"); he is often described as "the father of the nation"..While continuing the former government's liberal economic policy, his administration also introduced measures to encourage land reform, combat poverty, and expand healthcare services. Internationally, he acted as mediator between Libya and the United Kingdom in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial, and oversaw military intervention in Lesotho. He declined to run for a second term, and was succeeded by his deputy, Thabo Mbeki. Mandela became an elder statesman, focusing on charitable work in combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation..Mandela served 27 years in prison, initially on Robben Island, and later in Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison. An international campaign lobbied for his release. He was released in 1990, during a time of escalating civil strife. Mandela joined negotiations with President F. W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory and became South Africa's first black president..On 4 July, it was reported that David Smith, a lawyer acting on behalf of Mandela family members, claimed in court on 26 June that Mandela was in a permanent vegetative state and life support should be withdrawn..(The attack on Edward Evans was witnessed by Hindley's 17-year-old brother-in-law, David Smith, the husband of her younger sister Maureen).. Mandela died on 5 December 2013 at the age of 95.. He died at around 20:50 local time (UTC+2) at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, surrounded by his family.. His death was announced on television by President Jacob Zuma..On 6 December 2013, President Zuma announced a national mourning period of 10 days, with the main event held at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on 10 December 2013...

Fortunately, the world has changed. Global communications, cable TV, the internet..One more thing. Let no man call us crazy.. They called Hitler crazy. But Hitler was not crazy.. He was stupid..You get Russia and America to fight each other..and destroy each other..I ordered no such attack.. You must not respond to this action until we have investigated all possibilities...http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showp...&postcount=227
