Dorsten ("Elevation 74 m (243 ft) is a town in the district of Recklinghausen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and has a population of just below 80,000..The exact linguistic derivation of the word “Dorsten” is unknown,(Tel Dor (Kh. al-Burj or Tantura), is an archeological site located on Israel's Mediterranean coast, about 30 km south of Haifa).. leaving the meaning of the town’s name unclear..Archaeological findings show that the area was already populated during the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, from about 4000 BC onwards.. The Romans established a military camp in Dorsten-Holsterhausen in 11 BC and Varus passed through it in 9BC on his way to the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest..It was only during the Industrial Revolution of the nineteenth century that Dorsten returned to its former prosperity.. Spinning, weaving and metal casting industries found their way into town and in 1912, the first coal mine opened..Dorsten is twinned with Hod HaSharon (Hebrew: הוֹד הַשָּׁרוֹן, lit. "Splendor of the Sharon") is a city in the Central District of Israel..Hod HaSharon is located on central Israel's Sharon Plain, part of the Israeli Coastal Plain.. Hebburn is a small town situated on the south bank of the River Tyne in North East England, sandwiched between the towns of Jarrow and Bill Quay. The population of Hebburn is 18,808...It is thought that the name Hebburn may be derived from the Old English terms, heah meaning "high", and byrgen meaning a "burial mound", though it could also mean the high place beside the water. The first record of Hebburn mentions a settlement of fishermen's huts in the 8th century, which were burned by the Vikings..Local legend claims that, until recently, a preserved longship lay embedded on the south bank of the Tyne at Hebburn. The object, visible at low tide, was however the remains of an old wooden "coal lighter".. A genuine longship would likely have been salvaged by a historical society, or have had a protection order placed upon it..In the 14th century the landscape was dominated by a peel tower. A 4'6" (140 cm) tall wall, a portion of which still remains at St. John's Church, could also be seen. The Lordship of the Manor of Hebburn passed through the hands of a number of families during the Middle Ages, including the Hodgsons of Hebburn (James 1974, Hodgson).Coal was mined at Hebburn as early as the 17th century. Hebburn Colliery opened in 1792 and eventually operated 3 pits.. It closed in 1931.. 200 miners were killed during the life of the colliery. The youngest were 10 years old..Hebburn also has proud shipbuilding history with many Royal Navy battle ships being built at A. Leslie and Company. The most famous ship built at the ship yard was HMS Kelly, launched in 1938 and commanded by Lord Louis Mountbatten..130 were killed when it was sunk and they are remembered in memorials at Hebburn Cemetery which were erected by surviving members of the crew and workers from Hawthorn Leslie..The Parachute Regiment 4th Para Reserves have a detachment Based in Hebburn... you're very good, tomorrow night I'll tell you the story of emperor Claudius who was betrayed by those closest to him, by his own blood.. They whispered in dark corners and went out late at night and conspired and conspired but the emperor Claudius knew they were up to something.. He knew they were busy little bees.. And one night he sat down with one of them and he looked at her and he said, "Tell me what you've been doing busy little bee or I shall strike down those dearest to you.. You shall watch as I bathe in their blood." And the emperor was heartbroken.. The little bee had wounded him more deeply than anyone else could ever have done. And what do you think happened then, Lucius?..I don't know, uncle...The little bee told him everything...
