On the Western Front during the First World War, some Sergeants Major reportedly had mirrors tied to the end of golf clubs or walking sticks to inspect up and under the kilt at parade inspection. However, in 1940 the kilt was retired from combat due to the vulnerability of bare skin to chemical agents, although it was retained as the formal dress uniform of the regiments.. In the 1950s, kilted soldiers on parade would be checked by the Sergeant Major using a mirror on the barracks floor.. In 1997, a Black Watch soldier received wide press exposure, because of windy conditions during a military ceremony Hong Kong...

Royal Air Force Station Gütersloh, more commonly known as RAF Gütersloh, was a Royal Air Force Germany military airfield, the nearest Royal Air Force airfield to the East/West German border, in the vicinity of the town of Gütersloh.. It was constructed by the Germans prior to World War II. The station was captured by the Americans in April 1945 and was handed over to the RAF in June 1945 as HeadQuarters No. 2 Group RAF..One of the things I love about Venice, is that it's so safe for me to walk...

Set in the immediate aftermath of the Cold War, it is a dramatisation of army life in the early to mid-1990s, when the British Army was undergoing significant change.. This is perhaps best demonstrated during the 3rd series, when a significant number of real regiments were forced into amalgamations with each other due to downsizing of the army.. In the world of Soldier Soldier, the King's Fusiliers are also forced to amalgamate with the Cumbrian Regiment becoming the King's Own Fusiliers..The Royal Green Jackets (RGJ) was an infantry regiment of the British Army,1 of 2 "large regiments" within the Light Division..It was formed in 1966 by the amalgamation of the 3 separate regiments of the Green Jackets Brigade..After the 1992 reorganisation, the unit was mostly based overseas in Dhekelia, Cyprus and Paderborn, Germany and in Northern Ireland, saw action in Bosnia and Kosovo during the Yugoslav Wars like to take trophies and souvenirs.. Keeping some memento .. a lock of hair, jewelry, newspaper clips helps prolong, even nourish, their fantasy..In my research, I’ve seen this happen again and again.. Both battalions returned to the UK by 2002 and 1 battalion served on Operation Telic in Iraq, the regiment's last ever assignment before the amalgamation.. In 1975 to 1977 in Berlin 3 RGJ had a mascot called Charlie the Pig..Their motto was Celer et Audax .. As they Were used as shock troops and marksmen, they had to get to the front line of battle as fast as was possible; as a result the RGJ marched at 140 paces per Minute (at a 15" pace) whereas other regiments march at just 120 (with an 18" stride).. "Swift and Bold"..., quick, child, run! Run away, hide! In the woods, anywhere! Never come back! Now go! Go! Run! Run! Hide!..Why, there's se7en little chairs. Must be se7en little children. And from the look of this table, se7en untidy little children..I'd like an omelet, plain, and a chicken salad sandwich on wheat toast, no mayonnaise, no butter, no lettuce.. And a cup of coffee..But, you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs..You know, this is .. excuse me .. a damn fine cup of coffee!...
