"Dogs have bigger carbon footprint than a car"

According to QI (aka truth and lies), Stephen Fry read his autocue, and apparently an average sized dog has a larger carbon footprint than a large car due to the amount of meat they eat
Cats have the same CF as a car.
Hampsters have the same carbon footprint as a plasma tv.
Blatant propaganda by the BBC.

Stephen fry acted as though it must be true cos it was written on the cue cards/autocue.

The first 9 mins of the show has the bit about the dogs :-

One of the panel said "well what about humans carbon footprint ?" , andl Stephen Fry said that LEGALLY we can get rid of dogs (meaning kill them), but with humans it would be illegal. Alan Davies said that it was a good thing that we have wars then (he was joking I think... I hope).

Stephen Fry has a bigger carbon footprint than me. So fucking what?

The carbon global warming scam was expose as such years ago. If he was actually clever, he would realise this and also realise AIDS is a scam too.

But he is just another left wing pseudo intellectual

ragnarok 30-01-2011 07:53 PM

I'd rather do without cars, than dogs. Ymmv.

That's the mindset that they want to you have - "that's ok cos I dont have a car/dog".
Bill Bailey, said he has 4 dogs, so he wondered if he could have 8 cars if he got rid of them (he was joking of course) :D.

A dogs life in worth nothing to these people, nevermind a human life.

confused...

Keeping dogs to be made illegal all in the name of global warming expect a massive canine culling.

QI is such a repeater show.

They never back up their claims with evidence, yet so many people believe what it says on there without question.

caper 30-01-2011 10:48 PM

Queer I.....I mean, QI. A Stupid programme that is a state mouthpiece and only advances the agenda. Look how much effort Fry and crew, but especially Fry, put into "debunking" conspiracies and shutting down any negative spin on the government.

Fry...clever? Anyone is clever when they are reading off an autoque or a scripted card.

And what's Alan davies doing talking about dogs....the man looks like one.

He's got the same hair cut as my Spaniel....:D

I hear you, brother. Some days I'd rather do without humans as well.

Good, that's why I have so many dogs, great for photosynthesis ;)

mcburney 31-01-2011 12:51 AM

Maybe, but put four people on the dog and the 0-60 times are terrible.

They are good in snow though, being 4x4 'n all.

Tbf QI is a great programme. With dogs though, i think if you give them beef then they will have a huge carbon footprint and just wasteful as dogs are garbage cans on legs and will eat any old crap, my dog has a chicken based dried food which i would assume is mainly comprised of mechanically recovered bits and pieces, along with grain and other fillers, and he obviously gets leftovers etc, but he looks ok his coats nice and shiny and he's always got plenty of energy. I think this story, which i haven't seen, is another oversimplification, but maybe one that will make us think that we shouldn't be wasting good food and energy (in the form of carbon) on dogs.

practicaltheorist 31-01-2011 10:01 AM

Carbon footprint.

....Pwhahahahahahaha :D

I`m sorry. I can`t say that and keep a straight face.
