* RETHINK * Reduce * Reuse * Recycle *

I'd like to use this thread to swap RETHINK/Reduce/Reuse/recyle tips!

For a few years they have peddled the slogan of the three 'R's:

Reduce - Reuse - Recylce (In that order of preference)

But they forgot to include at the front RETHINK!

Surely the most important one! (Dang - I think I know why they missed it off! They don't want us to 'rethink', or even 'think' in the first place! So long as all you're doing is reduce/reuse/recyle you are STILL playing the game!

TECHNICALLY - if you RETHINK properly then you will not need to reduce/reuse/recycle at all!!

(We are all here cos we are 'rethinkers' anyway aren't we! ;) )

Might save us all a bob or two as well! :p

Puncture repair patches:

I keep one or two knackered inner tubes and cut patches from then to form new repair patches for the good inner tubes that are on the bike!

No need to buy new patches :)

For the gardener:

I am forever picking plastic bottlesthem out of the recycle bin to cut up to make labels for my plants (use a OHP marker).

I also cut the tops and bottoms off to make wind protectors for small plants.

You can cut the bottom off a plastic bottle and turn it upside down to make a basic funnel. Cut a whole in the cap and screw it on to reduce the 'appeture' of the hole.

Yeah clear bottles make great "cheap" propagators for seedlings.

The top halfs, you can use the lid as a vent to regulate the humidity.

really really cheap, and do as good a job as any other commercial non heated propagtor, and can be use in single plant setups so perfected to that specific plants requirements.

Re-use the useful things, cut em up to your needs :)

Peace

:)

I have found that trying to use the clear bottle bottoms as plant pots isn't the best idea, it seems to stunt root growth when they get light on them as the roots hit the sides.

But maybe other people have some info that could help us all with this :)

I am all for re-using items that can help us.

Just a case of trial and error

Peace
