22 fissures now with several at least connected by lava streams.

Fissure 17 venting hundreds of feet into the air and forming cinder cone that's in excess of 150 feet high.

Civilbeat.org live morning feed at the World of Warcraft theme park at fissure 16/20 Lower Puna.

Latest USGS report indicates fresh fast lava (mainly from fissure 20 on the Civilbeat cam) reaching the coast in 3 places possibly before night fall.

https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/observato.../image-434.jpg

Larger flows at the East end of the line of fissures have the chemical composition of the 1955 flows, are flowing from the cone at fissure 17, turning South and heading coastwards at a much slower rate.

Fissure 18 is making the the loudest noise heard on cam venting gas and throwing rocks intermittently.

Police road blocks in the vicinity are only allowing access to local inhabitants.

The outpourings continued unabated through the night cutting the coast road, reaching the ocean and burning much of the vegetation and many homes on the way.

Clouds of steam and smoke cover the dramatically altered landscape as lava continues to stream away from the fissure line.

Many of the fissures have linked up now with activity in that area undiminished and it's anyones guess what is happening below the surface but one small fissure has now extended to within a few hundred yards of the geothermal plant which is the group of green buildings in this video from a few days back.

Whilst this clip collection gives a good round up.

When lava and water meet it forms 'Laze' which is a hydrochloric acid mist which contains microscopic shards of glass. This is one of the big airborne dangers on the Big Island atm..

Msm have reached the area.

It's mesmerising and amazing to watch. I love the approach of the native Hawaiians who are happy to let 'Madame Pele' to just do her thing.

Watched the live feed from the start right up until the MSM cews started arriving and when they started sharing the feed with PBS and found it very grounding and peaceful.

Here's a good update from Steve Brantley of the USGS demonstrating how to communicate science.

One wonders if the extraction of heat in that particular spot tipped sub surface conditions enough for the old magma to be shifted by the new.

cosmic tramp 23-05-2018 07:21 PM

Interesting fact : did you know land mass created by volcanic ash is extremely rich in potassium, nitrogen , phosphates and other minerals, making it an ideal growing medium for coffee plantations and vineyards and other crops ? The island of Hawaii itself was originally borne of volcanic eruption.

What I want to know is, why haven't we yet found a way to we harness volcano energy and use it to our own advantage ? Wasted resource or what ?

Everyone on this David Icke forum should know that we have enemies determined to destroy us.

We should not forget that they are there at all times doing their evil deeds,
They shall not succeed.

Geothermal plants don't have to be located right over magma channels or volcanoes to work but are expensive to build. Loss of the PGV run by Ormat Industies will mean a shortfall that will have to be temporarily made up with extra oil imports.

Here's Fox news!

serpentine 28-05-2018 06:04 AM

Things have been quietly simmering for the last few days with fresh activity in the Leilani estates area which is flowing inexorably in a north easterly direction using the topography and encroaching on the PGV site from a new direction (unfortunately not featured on the following video).

<iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/x35Km8_uyrU" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

A fresh fissure 24 opened up thereabouts gassing steam and sulphur. The flow of magma from the main crater area 25 miles away appears undiminished. If this continues highway 132 will probably be soon cut causing all sorts of problems locally whilst fears of a wind change has military helicopters on standby for emergency evacuations.

Fissure 25 now evident whilst this most recent USGS report gives an aerial shot of the PGV at the 50 second mark.

Continued strong activity today of the fissures in Leilani spreading flows West, East and North indicates highway 132, the primary access road to the PGV and more well heads being covered within the next few hours.

Busy night for some stay behind residents in central Leilani estates area with fissure 8 increasing activity and sending a fast lava flow in a northerly direction. Little available videos but here's one taken at the time officials were doing a last door to door check.

<iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-k4cHd9P-3c" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Reports of a new fissure opening have not been confirmed and maps have not been updated yet (it's early morning there!) but the County of Hawai'i Civil Defence issued this warning within the last hour as highway 132 is closed

Those flows stalled just short of the highway and the access road but the fast flow seen in the above post a few hours later (the result of a possible breach of a temporary lava pond wall) rapidly flowed over those and extended two narrow fingers of lava over both roads.

Mayor Harry Kim (who has seen a few eruptions in his time) had something to say about this today and concrete road blocks have now been deployed.

Check out the latest fissure monitoring and zoom to see how weird that recent activity maps out.

Why all the fuss about what Mother Nature has been doing since day one of the existence of the planet earth?

It’s how the earth has always functioned so what’s the big issue.

I’d be more concerned for this planet if all volcanic activity ceased.

:peace:

Basalt lava flows are indeed as old as the hills and Mayor Harry Kim is as old as some of the Big Island hills because that's the nature of things there and bearing in mind his speech from post 56 in this thread things have moved on quickly with lava rapidly cutting highway 132, running along it for several kilometres into good farmland and now threatening to cut highway 137 which is the remaining route out for that coastal area.

Loss of power and some mobile signals has prompted voluntary evacuations in the coast area whilst the dangerous pooling and break out nature of the increasing flow from the fissure 8 area has prompted mandatory evacuations in others.

As news goes this eruption is the first to shut down a geothermal plant surrounding it now on 3 sides.

https://youtu.be/Z-MTvNrX-Xc

Short flyby of the current situation there whilst the latest USGS conference with the media companies here indicates they can't predict how long this is going to go on for.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ-giJ6hxZs

Madame Pele currently shimmying at over 400 earthquakes a day for 5 consecutive days now.

Could be a long thread. :)

So that's what he's been doing since he got back from the Delta Quadrant. *cough*:D

Hats off for keeping us updated, btw.

Latest report on the main now 120 acre crater indicates millions of tons of rocks and rubble blocking the main vent to some depth......

.....job done.

Highway 137 was breached by the lava flow earlier this morning. News is a bit sparse from there as people are probably busy fleeing the area.

http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/...s-to-evacuate/

Reports the lava has diverging flow paths on the low lying area there as it moves over the 1960 flow zone.
