CHEMTRAILS

1. Thank you for your email of 5 April 2009 to the MOD Feedback on the MOD website. I am replying as this division has responsibility for safety and environmental policy. You requested information on any research, information and reports of the theory of ‘chemtrails’. This has been considered as a request for information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

2. First let me try and put the issue into perspective, weblogs and other commentators sometimes refer to the vapour trails left by aircraft as ‘chemtrails’. These vapour trails should more correctly be termed condensation trails or ‘contrails’ and are formed by the water vapour from the engines of jet aircraft flying at high altitudes. To our knowledge, the only research on aircraft emissions undertaken by the Ministry of Defence was carried by the Met Office which was on the effect of aircraft emissions on the climate. The outcome of this research was published in an IPPC report called “Aviation and the Global Atmosphere 1999” (Available from Cambridge University Press). We are not aware of any further research conducted by or on the behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

3. Contrails can remain in the sky for a long time under certain atmospheric conditions. Varying wind speeds in the upper atmosphere will cause the trials to spread out into the ‘fine cloud’ observed, making the sky appear white rather than its usual blue colour. The main pollutants from jet engines remain in the gaseous phase and are invisible to the eye. There are many natural phenomena associated with the presence of water in the atmosphere which may produce optical effects involving the dispersion of white light into its component colours. It is most likely that the increase in contrails is due to an increase in commercial airline traffic; National Statistics show that in the ten years 1992 to 2002 commercial air traffic between UK and overseas increased from circa 880000 aircraft to circa 1275000 aircraft, this is approximately a 40% increase in air traffic movements and numbers have continued to increase since these figures were produced.

4. If you are not satisfied with this response or you wish to complain about any aspect of the handling of your request, then you should contact me in the first instance. If informal resolution is not possible and you are still dissatisfied then you may apply for an independent internal review by contacting the Head of Corporate Information, 6th Floor, MOD Main Building, Whitehall, SW1A 2HB (e-mail [email protected]). Please note that any request for an internal review must be made within 40 working days of the date on which the attempt to reach informal resolution has come to an end.

5. If you remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you may take your complaint to the Information Commissioner under the provisions of Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act. Please note that the Information Commissioner will not investigate your case until the MOD internal review process has been completed. Further details of the role and powers of the Information Commissioner can be found on the Commissioner's website, http://www.ico.gov.uk.

A complete brush off...
What happened to all the tests reported by the Guardian newspaper?
Completely relying on the cause as the increase in air traffic, this may well be true of the increase but still that wouldnt make the aircraft's "contrail" stay in the air for hours after, no matter how many flights were above you. If that were true you would see more "chemtrail" evidence obviously near airports and regular continuous used flight paths. The chemtrails above my house are NOT in the flight paths of the nearest aiport (Manchester) only approx. 20 miles away.
I even gave them the link to the tests reported and they mentioned nothing of them???
Water Vapour!!! What a load of (swear word here)

Chemical trails are a big issue in the US as well and the Government wont put out a letter to even acknowledge that they received a request for information on the subject, at least to my knowledge they haven’t. Where I live in the US, I see Chemtrails 3 days a week and they fly in teams of jets. Like 10 jets covering the sky. You can clearly see that these Jets are well coordinated and have precision spraying zones and times at which to spray. I wish I could know the absolute truth about this subject?

Yeah this is so true if you look on my facebook profile of the pics I took of the perfect criss cross formation of the trails you now know that these lines are planned out. And since them photos for 2 weeks now we have had none above my house, so what? Do they stop flying chartered flights above my house for 2 weeks and them re-strart them again.
Guess the MOD won't give me a straight answer for that neither!

I just wanted the denial letter with there no good explanation so I could splatter it all over the net and show people with the same problem that it is a cover-up.

hey why dont you send a photo with one of the Orb's that seem to be around the chems? maybe you could ask if they are merely bits dropping off the planes..wonder what crap they will reply to that

It just makes me start to wonder if the people in the MOD are worried about breathing the air ?

Are they in on it ? Vaccinated against the effects ?

Do these people have families to think of ?

Why have there been no apparent leaks / whistleblowers ? Are the Pilots / ground crew even aware what they are spraying ?(compartmentalisation of info)

Today was the busiest I've seen since I became aware of them.

So many questions , fucking no answers whatsoever from Whitewash / whitehall !!

I reckon there's more pilots than there are people who believe in chemtrails.

PPRuNe seems to be quite a busy pilot forum. You can use google to search it for chemtrail and then browse what most of them think ->

chemtrails: it's not a question of belief, you just have to have a brain and a couple of globe like organs (eyes).

Interesting to read the posts on that PPRuNe forum, some of the members there seem to be dropping rather large hints, some are clearly dis-info merchants and some are in shutdown/fear mode like "I know it's happening but to afraid to think about it"
Well worth looking a bit deeper into that site.

Some interesting posts...I have a friend ( well met them on holiday recently) who is good friends of a commercial pilot..im going to see if he's willing to talk to him...one of these buggers has to spill the beans...by that I mean the crap they have been told when querying it....
