Harper Valley PTA - Loretta Lynn

The Happiest Girl in The Whole USA - Donna Fargo

These songs I post ARE hits from my area in the 1970's; they were on pop radio when stations offered variety in the New South. Frankly, I can't stand Country Music, but this is what I heard very early in life so I can tolerate it.

By '73 the music blend was turning to harder, grittier, and more popular, corporate rock; still good but ushering in the Modern South indiscernible from anywhere else in the nation.

Eternity's Breath - John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra.

A co-creator of "fusion" creating yet another form of it. Ridiculous guitar and violin playing, instrumentation and performances all around. Despite McLaughlin being under the "spell" of a (here's my template to gOd, give it a shot and see if it's yours too) gUrU, Sri Chinmoy.
