I looked on the dire mumsnet forum last night (look at it once in a blue moon to torture myself). Someone dared to start a thread mentioning the covid vaccine, army delivering it and will it be mandatory.  God, the grief this woman got was incredible! A few people chimed in and meekly agreed with her about creeping authoritarianism but for the most part the shit the thread starter got was so disheartening.  Plenty of 'good, I hope it is mandatory!' And when she said she was concerned about military personell being brought into schools to test children, the amount of replies likening it to army coming to schools to give career talks. Like they couldn't see any difference between the two. Was such a depressing read...what we're up against.

Yep, I remember seeing that same thread months ago. The recentish thread I just mentioned, there was still a few nhs workers chiming in and saying things along the lines of 'it's funny, it was incredibly empty when I was working on the wards ..but of course I'm not a tinfoil hat or anything.'  There are a lot, a lot of people who will never want their opinions to be in line with what the 'conspiracy nuts' have stated since the onset. Too much to reconcile with, too galling and too bothersome to have to alter their viewpoint and thus let everything come crashing down amongst them.  But then they 'll be besides themselves with glee and thank Klaus when he wipes their debt and everything can start afresh for them.

I have to say that where i work i was only one of a small minority that uses this information to educate myself.  it was about 5-10% of a rather large group of well paid, well educated, skilled people that being in the above normal pay grade to the rest of the country were happy to have mortgages etc.

 

They all know that I am preparing for a plan B.  They ask how the farm is doing and the house etc.

 

NOW however its more like 80-90% that are asking questions.  To some degree it was me and my unwavering ability to drop the ego and just do it.  Lots are trying to find out my other address at the moment.  The come for advice but mostly its that more people are actually listening.

5 years ago - having had the flu shot for years - I asked my Dr if he would have it and he said no.  So I haven't had it since then.  Why are so many Dr's and nurses still buying into it?  Are they sincerely believing all of it?  I think a calculated measured approach is best.  I do get why David yells 'We ain't having it' however there are many many people who want to make their voices heard but who have little experience in finding a way to do it.   Never been on a protest march.  Never faced down the police.  We all know what is going on but including everyone from the most brave / militant and the common people who want their voices heard too.  I know familia's who are more at odds with this than they ever where with Brexit.  So it's a big deal.  Our freedoms are gone.  If the police can descend on a handful of people peacefully protesting with the full power of the law behind them we're fucked and we all know it.  But does anyone have any ideas on how to get all those people out too?  I know none watch the news - although would have before this - there are a lot of lost people out here that alone can't make a noise but together could change everything.  Any ideas/

In hindsight, I'm not sure if the pressure to have the vaccine will come from the authorities or society in general after hearing some of their views. I don't think pretending to have had the vaccine already will work because I'm pretty sure they will give a reference of some kind to prove you've had it. I suspect in the end we won't have a choice if we want to be able to purchase food?

I’m a care worker so am a little bit worried that I’m of the first in line

 

One thing I did notice is the vaccine can only survive for five hours if it’s nit frozen 

 

That makes me think it’ll just be one visit to the workplace from the people giving the jab, I can’t see them keep coming back and re visiting 

 

One day off sick could be enough to swerve it

No problem where I am ( Thailand) ....   no need for fires ... I've already got solar panels for electricity ...

On the contrary in the UK they are aiming at 'sustainable' as an outcome for all this climate nonsense.  The idea is to turn 'BACK' the clock and stop using fossil fuels and stop folk even traveling outside of a given area.

 

While at THE SAME TIME they are gonna build more nuclear power plants and invest heavily in battery tech.

 

In Wales at the moment (Wales being a poor UK country in its own right) they have a 'One Planet' policy that does just that.  It forces folk to produce produce sustainably!  So you can't build if it can't be done locally by local products.  You can't grow lest it be totally noted by a 'govenor' of sorts with books and logs to prove your abilities.  And upon your retirement in years to come your children have to prove it ALL OVER AGAIN....EVERY YEAR.  FUCK THAT.

surely not all stores and online delivery wont stop selling to people without a vaccine, there will be health food stores, farms and other places where people can get food from. They may not be able to go into the big chains, but that's a problem that can be worked around

How many people can afford solar panels?!  I certainly can't. They cost thousands of pounds and are useless in Britain a lot of the time due to cloudy dark days for much of the year. They won't be enough to generate enough electricity for a family's daily use and charge up an electric car.

 

I'm not making "excuses"; I'm talking about practicalities. I haven't savings stashed away and live in a one bed housing co op flat in a town that I like and waited a few years to get. 

 

We've been through this before Oz- you and I. I am unable to run off to a Thai "jungle" and quite frankly, I don't want to.

 

I'm not scared of the future- my family carried on through world war 2 with stoicism ( as did everyone else in those days) and courage and community spirit. They made do and managed through The Blitz and rations. I will do the same if it requires it. I have parents that will need me so I'm not wealthy and/or selfish enough to run away to a "remote country" and leave them without my support. Charity and caring begins at home.

 

I'm nearly 53 so had much of my life already so, if as you put it, I "am to go" so be it. If there's an afterlife, I would be there, if not, no worries. It is what it is.

 

Some of us have the courage to face whatever life throws at us. Not running away from it does not mean cowardice, but the reverse- facing it head on.
