NHS: elderly harm, lies and organised crime

Even though I have been aware of the death pathway for some time it remains shocking to listen to and acknowledge.

Clearly the model of "institutional healthcare" is fatally corrupted and needs to be highlighted.

The entire edifice of the mechanism we exist in is based on corruption and deceit (religion, feudalism, usury/fiat, education, politics, science , industry, media, commerce etc) - it seeps into each and every avenue and tarnishes accordingly.

Healthcare used to be the province of the family and now it lies with strangers.

Thanks for posting this - More to look out for wrt covid and the ederly.

Thank you for your thoughts @zarkov and you're absolutely right.  How did we get to this point?  Yet whenever there's a scandal we tut and condone but continue with our lives, all forgotton about 5 minutes later.  Yes, the word 'deceit' is appropriate and wonder if we've just become desensitised.  I sincerely hope not.

Perhaps we need the return of the family unit, it's certainly something to think about.

This is so terrible I dont have the heart to pass it on to others that I know.

It is my absolute worst nightmare to be in the position that those people interviewed were in. On the outside looking in and helpless while their loved ones where dehydrated to death by 'professionals'. There is no excuse for dehydration in this day. We have drips ffs.

Proper care of a sick elderly person takes a lot of effort. It means helping them sip water every hour, making good nutritious broths, spoon feeding, getting them moving,  fresh air and sun, keeping them clean, giving contact, keeping them mentally motivated. It takes people who are genuinely carers too look after strangers and its hard work.

But some people are lazy and convenience trumps all. Give morphine, withdraw nutrients/fluids. Much easier, all under the guise of 'keeping them comfortable'. Its a disgrace.

Im sure this is wide spread. Perhaps the system wouldnt cope if they really started to give proper care to elderly.

It makes me furious that we are accused of killing old people by not wearing masks. Its so messed up and so far from the truth.

My mother was killed in this fashion in March in the UK in the Somerset area.

. Yesterday I spoke with a friend of mine here in Canada, her mother is currently in a care home, and she told me that a doctor called her recently to discuss DNR and did she want her mother afforded all the aids of life if she became ill.

My friend told him.."yes I do, she may be forgetful at times but she is otherwise healthy." The doctor went on to tell her that her mother was old and that if it came down to using respirators did she think her mother should be a priority? My friend said we can discuss that at a future  time should it become necessary. She was promptly told by the doctor that he did not agree with her...to which she replied " It is not for you to agree with, its not your decision to make"  What should have been a two minute call became a 45 minute call as my friend was subjected to total bullying and berating. These doctors and those forcing decisions about life and death should be made accountable...this is planned murder aka Murder1 / 1st degree murder.

Thanks for posting this. Bit too late for me to listen now but will do with keen interest tomorrow. My dad was one of those that died in the carehomes from convid.

@Mr H this isn't about Covid although a scenario or two may well be similar to what you've encountered.  Proceed with caution though, it's not an easy listen.

Thanks @Problem child for your spot on comments.  Sounds as though it's a subject close to your heart and do hope that you've not been personally affected.  Truth is that 'care' has become a meaningless word and associated with under-valued and under-paid work.  You're right, some are lazy and convenience trumps all but there are some good employers out there from what I've witnessed.  Years ago I visited a number of (dementia) care homes to assess suitability for a parent, one home reminded me of a freak show and I just wanted to run.  Dreadful place.

Nothing will change though, it's all about economics despite the government being happy to spaff goodness knows how many billions at a virus that's not been proven to exist.  Shameful.

Am sorry to read that @Beaujangles did you make a complaint?

Shocking that a doctor believes it's his place to decide on a DNR and it's not right to bully his patient's offspring either.   Makes you wonder who else has been on the receiving end of this cruel behaviour.

I think this is happening everywhere.  Its appalling. Treating people like useless shells rather than the people, parents and grandparents they are. I will be making a large complaint within the statutory period of limitations for sure.
