The Isle of Man TT or Tourist Trophy races are an annual motorcycle sport event run on the Isle of Man in May/June of most years since its inaugural race in 1907. The event is often called one of the most dangerous racing events in the world.

If you have never rode a motorbike or never seen the TT .... you don't know what you are missing.

The scariest sport EVER!

It puts all other motor sports to shame in my thought.

This is one lap, 37 miles at an AVERAGE of 130+ mph, and no it has not been sped up ....

Religion Of Sports The Space Between

From executive producers Tom Brady, Michael Strahan and Gotham Chopra, the streaming launch of Religion of Sports shows you an inside look at one of the most dangerous motorcycle races in the world, the Isle of Man TT.

Every year, thousands put their lives on the line to compete in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, in the hopes of earning the top spot. They reflect on what draws them to this race and why, despite the many deaths that have occurred at the hands of the race, why they continue to enter the race.

Yep.
Everyone is free to go race there or not.
Freedom of choice.
TT is an anomaly in the West.
Thankfully..

Guy Martin's lucky escape

The Honda that year was plagued with a dodgy gearbox. Similar incident happened with his team mate.
They knew about it in the build up to the TT when the gearbox was poor in the Irish road races that year, but no-one managed to fix it properly.

TT star Horst Saiger ‘critical’ after testing crash

Horst-Saiger.jpg

ROAD racing star Horst Saiger is in a critical condition after crashing his Yamaha during testing at the Red Bull Ring this weekend.

The Austrian Isle of Man TT rider was at the Spielberg circuit on his IXS R1 when he went down hard at turn two, Remus, reportedly without any brakes.

A statement from Saiger Racing reads:

Unfortunately, we have to inform you, that Horst crashed very badly in the second turn after some laps. We don’t know what the technical problem was, but he had no brakes.

He is now in artificial coma because of his very bad injuries. He is in critical condition but stable.

He needs time and we have to wait and hope that everything comes well…

Everyone at UK Clubsport wishes Horst a speedy recovery.

Closer to the Edge

The film charts the build up to the 2010 races, and then documents each of the races and their results. These take place along public roads through the Isle of Man, covering 37.73 miles of terrain, and packed with thousands of spectators who have come from all over the world. Closer to the Edge captures the 2010 races and attempts to show what motivates the racers.

The film features several racers, including Guy Martin, John McGuinness, Conor Cummins, and Ian Hutchinson. McGuinness is the most successful living TT rider, having won the TT fifteen times. In 2009 Hutchinson won two TT's in one day, another road race, the North West 200, in Northern Ireland as well as competing every week at the top of the British Superstock Championship.

The film reveals how, for more than 100 years, riders have come to the Isle of Man to compete. The narration suggests that the TT has always called for a commitment far beyond any other racing event, and since the race began over 200 people have died in the races.

The second half of the film introduces Bridget Dobbs, mother of two and widow of Paul Dobbs ("Dobsy") who died in the 2010 races. Bridget understands and accepts that her husband, like many others, died doing something he loved. Despite the near fatal injuries, the film shows how those that survive all want to go back and do it again.
