'Disease X is still snatching away lives'

By George Weller
Tue 21 Jun 2005 12.17 BST First published on Tue 21 Jun 2005 12.17 BST

Pulitzer prize-winner George Weller was the first western reporter to reach Nagasaki in the aftermath of the atomic bomb. US censors suppressed his dispatches but, 60 years later, his son has unearthed copies of those original reports. Here we print some edited extracts

On August 9 1945, at 11.02am, Nagasaki was devastated by an atomic bomb dropped by an American B-29. George Weller was the first foreign reporter to evade General Douglas MacArthur's news cordon. Slipping away by boat at night from an officially controlled tour of another site, Weller reached the city by train on September 6, and began filing intensively for his paper, the Chicago Daily News - stories and notes totalling tens of thousands of words. All of it was suppressed by the US authorities, which also kept his original typescripts. But in the summer of 2003, a year after Weller's death, his son Anthony found the crate of fragile, discoloured carbon copies his father thought were lost. These extracts - some in abbreviated note form - show Weller's dawning realisation that the effects of the explosion were unlike anything so far seen.

About 70% of the deaths have been from plain burns ... But most of the patients who were gravely burned have now passed away and those on hand are rapidly curing. Those not curing are people whose unhappy lot provides the mystery aura around the atomic bomb's effects. They are victims of what Lt Jakob Vink, Dutch medical officer and now allied commandant of prison camp 14 at the mouth of Nagasaki harbour, calls "disease". Vink himself was in the allied prison kitchen abutting the Mitsubishi armour plate department when the ceiling fell in but he escaped this mysterious "disease X" which some allied prisoners and many Japanese civilians got.

Vink points out a woman on a yellow mat in hospital. She fled the atomic area but returned to live. She was well for three weeks except for a small burn on the heel. Now she lies moaning with a blackish mouth, stiff as though with lockjaw and unable to utter clear words. Her exposed legs and arms are speckled with tiny red spots in patches.

Near her lies a 15-year-old fattish girl who has the same blotchy red pinpoints and a nose clotted with blood. A little farther on is a widow lying down with four children, from one to about eight, around her. The two smallest children have lost some hair. Though none of these people has either a burn or a broken limb, they are presumed victims of the atomic bomb.

"All the symptoms are similar," said the Japanese doctor. "You have a reduction in white corpuscles, constriction in the throat, vomiting, diarrhoea and small haemorrhages just below the skin. All of these things happen when an overdose of roentgen rays is given. Bombed children's hair falls out. That is natural because these rays are used often to make hair fall artificially and sometimes takes several days before the hair becomes loose."

Disease X:

WHO Puts Potential Disease On Priority List, Warns Of Possible "Serious International Epidemic"

March 10, 2018

The health agency warned that such a scenario might arise due to a "pathogen currently unknown to cause human disease," hence the importance of research and development ahead of any possible outbreak.

The World Health Organization recently released the results of its second annual review of prioritized diseases and revealed the possibility that an illness simply known as "Disease X" could eventually pose a public health threat.

In a news release published this week, the WHO updated its list of "R&D Blueprint" priority diseases, which were chosen last month for their potential to "cause a public health emergency," and the fact that these illnesses do not have any known cures or vaccines. Out of several known illnesses taken under consideration, the WHO listed the Ebola virus disease, Rift Valley fever, Zika, Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). However, the inclusion of the so-called "Disease X" stood out in the priority list, due to the lack of concrete information on the potential disease-causing pathogen.

"Disease X represents the knowledge that a serious international epidemic could be caused by a pathogen currently unknown to cause human disease, and so the R&D Blueprint explicitly seeks to enable cross-cutting R&D preparedness that is also relevant for an unknown "Disease X" as far as possible," wrote the WHO.

Although the WHO"s news release did not explicitly mention a possible source for the mystery disease, should it exist, News.com.au cited the health agency in writing that there might be other explanations for the illness, aside from contact with diseased animals, such as in the cases of Zika and chikungunya, which is passed on by mosquitos, and various forms of influenza passed on by birds, swine, and other animals. These include the increasing use of chemical warfare in various applications, as well as the possibility of a man-made disease that might have been created via gene editing techniques.

Deadly new epidemic called Disease X could kill millions, scientists warn https://t.co/n2sPOR9GO9 pic.twitter.com/CwemU4G5Pq

Daily Mirror (@DailyMirror) March 10, 2018

Speaking to the Telegraph in a members-only report, WHO committee science advisor John-Arne Rottingen said that the world"s next major disease outbreak could take the world"s health officials by surprise, as it might be "something we have not seen before" in history.

Gene Editing Eugenics in The X Files

In the comeback season finale, CRISPR "solves" climate change & overpopulation.

Posted Mar 11, 2016

CRISPR-Cas9 "gene editing" has been a source of hype, hope, and caution for the past several years, and its presence in labs, patent fights, policy discussions, and headlines has grown exponentially.

But in the finale of The X Files" comeback season, it is aliens who first harness genome editing. "CRISPR patent belongs to aliens," Sara Reardon comically claims in the Nature books and arts blog A View From the Bridge. As she notes,

it is human genome editing that forms the season"s backbone: a concept that is far more scientifically plausible today than it was in 2001 [around when The X Files went off-air] " or even 2012 [when CRISPR-Cas9 was developed as a genome editing platform].

In The X Files, the aliens use gene editing in the service of population control campaigns on other planets. In the real world, the range of potential CRISPR applications triggering social and ethical controversy includes

human "germline" gene editing, i.e. creating modifications that will be passed down to future generations by engineering germ cells (gametes or embryos) prior to initiating a pregnancy " what the media sometimes call "designer babies" and

climate change gene editing, i.e. attempting to alleviate the effects of anthropogenic global warming by modifying plants and animals, including drought-tolerant corn and soybeans and heat-tolerant cows.

Both of these brave-new-world applications come into play in the finale"s dystopian plot.

In an earlier era of Roswell crash-landings and secretive extraterrestrial research, scientists discover that aliens had developed a "Spartan Virus" to "manage" overpopulation. At some point in the last century, motivated parties on earth co-opt this viral population-control method by creating a germline gene therapy to slip into mandatory smallpox vaccinations.

In real life, routine smallpox vaccination ended in the United States in 1972; in The X Files finale, regardless, the Spartan Virus continued to infiltrate the population for decades because everyone who was vaccinated passed on the CRISPR complex to future generations. Fast-forward to 2016, and a prominent villain from earlier seasons has decided it"s time to activate the Spartan Virus in order to CRISPR-edit out a gene to turn off people"s immune systems. (The reference is to the adenosine deaminase (ADA) gene, which is associated with "bubble boy syndrome.")

How does the villain activate this CRISPR mechanism? With chem trails of aluminum nanoparticles! The only way to survive? An elite cabal has exclusive access to a secret germline technique using alien DNA (literally) that disables CRISPR from editing out the ADA gene, thereby preserving immunity.

Mysterious radioactive material enriched with uranium found over Alaska

Scientists scramble to determine origin

Posted on March 7, 2018

Alaska"s famous Northern Lights have received a new and menacing visitor, reported The Daily Mail. Floating high above the Aleutian Islands are radioactive particles contaminated by two different forms of uranium isotopes. Their exact origins have yet to be determined by the U.S. study that accidentally discovered their presence.

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that the mysterious particles appeared in the upper troposphere more than four miles (seven kilometers) above Alaska. One of NASA"s WB-57 high-altitude research aircraft made the discovery and took a sample.

Most of the particle is comprised of the typical by-products from burning heavy fuel oil. However, it also shows traces of enriched uranium oxide with uranium-235 and uranium-238.

Uranium is the densest element that occurs in nature. It usually appears as the isotope uranium-238, which is only slightly radioactive and is rare to find that high up in the atmosphere.

Uranium-235, on the other hand, is even rarer to find in nature. This far more radioactive isotope is more commonly manufactured as the fissile material for nuclear fuel and atomic warheads. (Related: Review of nuclear damage from Hiroshima, Fukushima focuses on dangers of nuclear radiation and the need to ban such weapons.)
The mystery particle was found by accident

What makes this discovery very unusual is the fact that NOAA airborne atmospheric research aircraft has never encountered atmospheric samples rich in both U-235 and U-238 during 20 years of operations. In fact, the team wasn"t looking for radioactive particlesin the first place.

"The purpose of the field campaign was to obtain some of the first global cross-sections of the concentration of trace gases and of dust, smoke, and other particles in the remote troposphere over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans," explained the researchers who authored the scientific study.

Study leader Dan Murphy is in charge of high-altitude scientific flights that ply the skies around the world for signs of aerosols formed by dust, fires, and pollution. He and his NOAA co-workers are atmospheric chemists who study how large amounts of tiny particulate matter in the air can affect the composition of clouds and the weather itself.

"It"s not a significant amount of radioactive debris by itself," he said during an interview with Gizmodo. "But it"s the implication that there"s some very small source of uranium that we don"t understand."

From what he and his team could determine, the U-235 and U-238 isotopes that formed the uranium oxide had to be man-made.

"Aerosol particles containing uranium enriched in uranium-235 are definitely not from a natural source," Mr. Murphy explained in the paper itself.

The NOAA study further theorizes that the uranium oxide came from recently-made reactor-grade fuel destined for a fission power plant. The newness and freshness of the material ruled out major nuclear disasters like Chernobyl, Fukushima, or Three Mile Island that took place years or decades ago.

They are looking at China, Japan, or the Korea peninsula as the source of the radioactive parts of the strange particle. All three regions have active nuclear power plants and the prevailing weather patterns could carry the particle to Alaska.

"Analysis of wind trajectories and particle dispersion model results show that the particle could have originated from a variety of areas across Asia," they wrote in their report.

The study was published in the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity. Mr. Murphy and the rest of the NOAA team are hoping to collaborate with a recognized authority on uranium so that they could determine how the particle was formed and where it could have come from.

"Nuclear Attack On USA Imminent" - Pentagon

Posted By: Eugene Boaheneon: March 08, 2018

The Pentagon has raised an alarm of a compelling evidence of possible nuclear weapon strike against the United States (U.S.).

"There is compelling evidence that at least one of our potential competitors in this space believes they can get away with striking us with a low-yield weapon.

"We cannot allow that perception to persist," Gen. Paul Selva, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

Selva said the recent Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) ensured the U.S. could match any nuclear threat, including that of a low-yield nuclear weapon.

"The review makes it clear that the United States will respond in kind to any nuclear threat," Selva said at the ninth annual Defense Programs conference hosted by McAleese and Associates and Credit Suisse.

The vice chairman underscored that the goal of the NPR was to maintain a safe, reliable, dependable and secure nuclear arsenal.

"We reviewed the world as it is, not the world as we wished it could be," Selva said.

The NPR projected what capabilities might be useful to supplement the existing delivery systems in the nuclear triad to "raise the bar for all adversaries who might contemplate use of nuclear weapons against the U.S. or our allies," he explained.

The new capabilities are the sea-launched cruise missile and a low-yield nuclear weapon that could be delivered from a submarine platform, Selva said.

"Don"t mistake the discussion of new capabilities for growth in the nuclear arsenal.

"And please don"t fall in the trap of having the conversation that low-yield lowers the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons," he said.

A Radioactive Cloud Wafts Over Europe, With Russia as Chief Suspect

By Alan Cowell Nov. 15, 2017

Scientists across Europe have been puzzling about a phenomenon that seemed laden with mystery and menace in somewhat uneven proportions "a concentration of radioactive pollution caused by a nuclide called ruthenium 106.

Official monitors in France and Germany concluded that, based on weather patterns, the contamination detected since late September had emanated from southern Russia or from Kazakhstan.

"The most plausible zone of release lies between the Volga and the Urals," the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety said on Nov. 9. Jean-Marc Peres, the institute"s director, told Reuters that the geographic area could indicate a spillage in Russia or in Kazakhstan.

On Oct. 8, the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection said, "Russia must be assumed to be the region of origin of radioactive release" "a suggestion that was denied by Rosatom, the state company that runs Russia"s nuclear industry.

According to a statement from Rosatom, "None of the enterprises of the Russian nuclear industry has recorded radiation levels that exceed the norm."

Israel gets fifth "nuclear-capable" sub

Published time: 30 Apr, 2013 12:12

Israeli new Dolphin-class submarine entry's Haifa port (Reuters) / Reuters

Israel has inaugurated its fifth Dolphin-class submarine, allegedly capable of launching cruise missiles with nuclear warheads. A German shipyard in Kiel has a contract to build a sixth sub "to ensure the security of Israel's citizens," the PM said.

The submarine has been baptized INS Rahav. Rahav is a demon, a cosmic sea monster, "Prince of the Sea" according to the Talmud. It was also the name of a strange woman from Jericho who hid two Jewish scouts from the King of Jericho in the Book of Joshua, Old Testament.

After the submarine is fully equipped and passes all tests, it will cost $500 million and will enter service as possibly the most sophisticated and expensive weapon of Israeli Navy. Delivery to client is reportedly expected by the end of 2013.

The INS Rahav was built in northern Germany at the Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft shipyard in Kiel. She is believed to be one of the most advanced and sophisticated diesel-electric submarines in the world.

"The INS Rahav is one of the most advanced submarines in the world," said Israeli Defense Ministry in a statement on Monday, reported Jerusalem Post.

"It is a versatile platform which can adapt to many and varied missions.

Does CRISPR gene editing = GMO?

Biotechnology skeptics may split on how to regulate New Breeding Technologies

David Warmflash | Genetic Literacy Project | August 21, 2016

Are you ready for GMO labeling 2.0? The term "genetically modified organism" has never made sense as a designation for food using ingredients grown from seeds engineered using transgenic procedures; genetic engineering is a process not an end point. Now that confusion could be compounded if opponents of biotechnology succeed in efforts to have products made through various genet editing (GE) techniques categorized legally as genetically modified (GM).

In common usage, and in terms of regulations, "genetically modified (GM)" is equated with transgenic"altering the genome of a plant with a gene donated from a different species, with the donated species being plant, animal, fungal or microbial. This why the term "foreign DNA" is often used when talking about transgenics, although that word is technically incorrect, as many genes are shared all living species.

But a plant also can be engineered to express its own genes differently than how they are commonly expressed. One example of this is RNA interference (RNAi); this is the technique used to create the Innate simplot potato so it does not easily bruise, produce acrylamide on heating, or involve the insertion of additional genes into its genome. But anti-GM critiques refer to it as a "GMO" and a candidate for proposed GMO labels. They are lobbying the European Commission (EC) with the goal of bringing about a European ruling to classify new breeding technologies (NBT) and CRISPR edited sterile insects as GMOs, which would effectively ban them. Here is Greenpeace's rationale:

The European Commission is considering whether genetically modified organisms GMOs) [sic] that have been produced through a range of new techniques should be excluded from the European Union"s GMO regulations. Biotechnology companies want to apply these techniques to engineer plants and animals for use in industrial food, biomass and biofuel production. They argue that these new methods to directly modify the genetic make-up of living organisms fall outside the scope of EU GMO regulations. This would mean that there is no risk assessment, labeling and monitoring of GM organisms produced by the new techniques and their derived products. The Commission has announced that it will present a legal analysis on the matter by the end of March 2016.

Concerns of NGOs are based on a valid point that powerful technologies, such as CRISPR genome editing, could present grave dangers if they are used irresponsibly or before adequate research is done to ensure that the repercussions can be reasonably understand. There is great caution about human germ line for this very reason. We're not there yet, but we may be soon.

Another potential application of genome editing that has been cited as a potential example of biotechnology misuse is the use of gene drives to thwart insect-borne disease. A CRISPR-powered gene drive can be forced into a population by introducing a genetic sequence that drives the gene with its altered traits through successive.

AID's: undermining the immune system...

Bill Gates and George Soros fund Monsanto and a world depopulation agenda

Saturday, August 06, 2016 by: S. D. Wells

United States citizens underestimate the devastating power of consuming pesticides daily. Sure, most Americans say they want labels on GMOs, but they're not getting them anytime soon, so now what? Also, most Americans believe vaccines are a good idea for combating infectious disease, and two out of every three people get a flu shot yearly, but do they know what the typical ingredients are and what chronic damage they're really doing to their brains and nervous, immune and reproductive systems?

Bill Gates and George Soros know. These two super rich dudes are not trying to save poor people in Africa, or India or Brazil. They don't care at all about the health of underprivileged societies, but what they do care about is making sure these folks can't reproduce, and that if they do reproduce, they are creating deformed, severely autistic, cancer-ridden beings that won't reproduce or even lead productive lives, but rather cost their parents all of their earnings and savings just to care for them.

Bill Gates has spoken at a TED conference saying he can reduce the world population by billions using vaccines. How so? If vaccines supposedly prevent infectious disease, how does that equate to killing off people or keeping them from multiplying? Great question.

South African 'test and treat' mass HIV experimentation begins with funding from Bill Gates
As of 2016, it's approximated that 7 million people in South Africa have HIV, with over 300,000 new cases arising every year. Of those, nearly 200,000 die each year from an AIDS related death, usually because their immune systems are next to non-existent, so anything from a head cold to the flu could drive them into their graves. What else could "kill off" these "undesirables?" Vaccines that contain known neurotoxins and heavy metal toxins. It's called eugenics, and some tall white guys are running the show. "Trials" are underway, and Bill Gates, the ultimate population control promoter and self-declared philanthropist, is pumping money into the pharma labs to concoct an AIDS vaccine.

Zika hoax, Bill Gates' GM mosquitoes, mass media propaganda scare, followed by mass DNA vaccination agenda
The CDC defines DNA vaccines as "purified plasmid preparations containing one or more DNA sequences capable of inducing and/or promoting an immune response against a pathogen," yet there is no proof that this really works as stated, and research shows that when these sequences are injected they can cause "insertional mutagenesis," which means gene and cell mutations can result "and that's also the definition of carcinogenesis, or "cancer." Care to turn off your tumor suppressor genes? Bill Gates and George Soros would love it if you did. That could help reduce the world population "problem" they are so righteously battling for us.

Could these novel sounding DNA vaccines actually create human tolerance to pathogens instead of immunity? Why would billionaires who support and promote cancer-causing, pesticide-laden GM food support a vaccine that creates immunity? It wouldn't make sense. That would be like breeding and releasing millions of poisonous snakes while creating and promoting anti-venom inoculation.

George Soros and the GMO Cannabis Revolution

May 7, 2014 By 21wire

George Soros and his Open Society Institute has pushed hard, dumping substantial sums of money into a public campaign to legalise marijuana in Uruguay. Why? The Washington Times confirmed the extent of their public relations investment into this issue:

"Through a network of nonprofit groups, Mr. Soros has spent at least $80 million on the legalization effort since 1994, when he diverted a portion of his foundation"s funds to organizations exploring alternative drug policies, according to tax filings".

Aside from the Soros agenda for a One World Government, financing the Occupy Movement and of overthrowing governments, destablising nations and fomenting civil wars around the globe through carefully planned "color revolutions", how does the Open Society Institute"s push for legalisation of drugs fit into all of this?

Critics are wondering if it could have something to do with influencing the governments in those countries where the legalisation efforts are most intense. Is this connected to the UN"s Agenda 21? Or is this paving the way for gene giants in big pharma to replace natural strands of cannabis with their own patented GMO variety?

they say

the Uruguayan government hopes legalising the sale of marijuana "will tackle drug cartels", but what they"re not telling you is that they are paving the way for a bigger drug cartel to take over. Soros is reportedly also a big Monsanto shareholder, and guess who is test planting their GMO version of cannabis later this year in Uruguay? Yes, it"s Monsanto.

BTW "Monsanto"s best lobbyist right now is Barack Obama himself (it"s not about cool, or pot " it"s about eugenics).

Monsanto Marijuana Initiative Grows in Uruguay?

By Staff News & Analysis - December 13, 2013

Uruguay becomes first nation to legalise marijuana trade "The Uruguayan government hopes legalising the sale of marijuana will tackle drug cartels " Uruguay's cannabis bill reflects liberal past "Š Uruguay has become the first country in the world to make it legal to grow, sell and consume marijuana. After nearly 12 hours of debate, senators gave the government-sponsored bill their historic final approval. The law allowing registered Uruguayans over 18 to buy up to 40g (1,4oz) of the drug a month is not expected to come into force before April. The government hopes it will help tackle drug cartels, but critics say it will expose more people to drugs. " BBC

Free-Market Analysis: Are considerations regarding Monsanto's business progress in South America behind the legalization of marijuana in Uruguay?

George Soros was a significant supporter of marijuana legalization in Uruguay, and Soros is reportedly also a big Monsanto shareholder. Here, from a recent Guardian article, published just before the bill passed:

Rich countries debating legalisation of cannabis are also watching the bill, which philanthropist George Soros has supported as an "experiment" that could provide an alternative to the failed US-led policies of the long "war on drugs".

In South America, Monsanto has found it rough going. Its business practices have been questioned in Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay. And it recently lost a lawsuit in Peru over its practice of suing farmers who inadvertently plant its windblown seed on their own soil.

Here from Lab.Org, Uruguay:

Monsanto recently signed an agreement with the National Institute of Agricultural Investigation (INIA). "This was done very quietly", says says Pablo Galeano, from the leading non-governmental organisation REDES. "Our job in REDES is to uncover these cases and, if we find something wrong, denounce it," says Galeano.

At the same time as Monsanto has faced increased difficulty with its soy products in South America, the giant agricultural concern has been expanding its marijuana technology.

Here from ChicagoNow.com:

Is Monsanto Ready to Enter The Medical Marijuana War? " As legally allowed medical marijuana becomes more widespread, it is no surprise that many are realizing there is legal money to be made off of this traditionally illegal cash crop.

"With so many dollar signs hanging in the air, ready to be snatched, it is no surprise to see agriculture giant Monsanto may be getting poised to jump into selling genetically modified marijuana as well.

"Monsanto GMO seeds are genetically modified to produce plants that are resistant to chemical herbicides, and the most commonly known one is Round-Up. The herbicides kill all other plants, but the genetically altered plants are able to resist the herbicide and are able to planted closer together than traditional crops allowing farmers to gain greater yields from the same amount of farmland.

These seeds are known as being "Round-Up Ready," and farmers are required to purchase new seed each season for their crops. The company has pursued litigation against small farmers in the past for growing plants from seeds that were not properly purchased.

In one case, a farmer received an eight year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit fraud against Monsanto because he saved seed from one growing season and used it the next without purchasing new seed from the company.

The genetically altered seeds are also suspected in playing a large role in the 2012 epidemic that swept through commercial bee colonies. During this epidemic, nearly 50% of the nation's bee population was wiped out, with farmers in California being hit the hardest. It is suspected that the neonicotinoids that are bred into the seeds are causing the bees to die after coming in contact with plants that sprouted from the genetically altered seeds.

"As the largest producer of GMO plants, moving into medical marijuana may seem a logical next step for the agriculture giant. US labs already use strains of genetically modified cannabis for testing and research, and the growing demand for legally obtained medical marijuana is sure to spike in the near future.

It looks like Monsanto is already ahead of the game due to their research into RNA interference. The company is investing millions of dollars into this new technology dubbed "RNAi."
With RNAi, it is possible to manipulate everything from the color of the plant to making the plant indigestible to insects.

With medical marijuana, RNAi could be used to create larger, more potent plants effectively cornering the market and exceeding the legal demand for the plant. In Canada, this scenario is one step closer to becoming reality due to new laws that will allow large-scale growers to distribute their plants via mail order "While moving into medical marijuana may be a winning move for Monsanto stockholders, it may also be a strong case of "buyer beware" for the end consumers of the product.

Trudeau Unveils Bill Legalizing Recreational Marijuana in Canada

By Ian Austenapril 13, 2017

OTTAWA "Fulfilling a campaign pledge, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced legislation on Thursday to legalize the recreational use of marijuana in Canada.

Many nations have either decriminalized marijuana, allowed it to be prescribed medically or effectively stopped enforcing laws against it. But when Mr. Trudeau"s bill passes as expected, Canada will become only the second nation, after Uruguay, to completely legalize marijuana as a consumer product.

"Criminal prohibition has failed to protect our kids and our communities," said Bill Blair, a lawmaker and former Toronto police chief whom Mr. Trudeau appointed to manage the legislation.

Mr. Blair said at a news conference that the government hoped to begin allowing legal sales by the middle of 2018. While the government"s plan has been broadly shaped by a panel of experts, many issues still need to be ironed out.

Will cannabis be legalised in the UK?

Where is marijuana legal and which celebrities support it?

You could still face a maximum five years in jail for possessing cannabis - but a campaign to decriminalise the drug is gaining momentum and is being backed by a number of famous faces

By Ellie Cambridge, Lauren Fruen and Danny De Vaal 5th March 2018, 3:13 pm

Currently anyone found possessing cannabis can be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison, an unlimited fine or both punishments under UK legislation.

Supplying or producing the class B drug can land people in prison for a maximum of 14 years an unlimited fine, or both.

There has long been an argument to legalise the drug to help people with chronic pain and anxiety.

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Drug Policy Reform says tens of thousands of people in UK already break the law to use cannabis for symptom relief.

The issue was debated on October 12, 2015, and closed after the government responded by saying: "Substantial scientific evidence shows cannabis is a harmful drug that can damage human health.

This week, UK parliament will be debating the issue again, after a proposal that the drug should be partially legalised for medicinal purposes.
Which celebrities support the legalisation of drugs?

Celebrities have also added their names for legalisation with Russell Brand, Sir Richard Branson and Sting all arguing for regulation to be relaxed.

How hash and weed all but disappeared from Britain's streets, as high-strength "skunk" took over

'Cannabis users, growers, dealers, drug workers, police I've talked to have been saying the market has been dominated by strong weed for the last decade', says drug expert

A new report has found the UK cannabis market is dominated by high-potency "skunk" and weaker varieties of the drug have been pushed out.

The study, conducted by King"s College London researchers, found high-potency varieties constituted 94 per cent of police seizures in 2016.

The piece of research is the first comprehensive, wide-ranging survey of cannabis strength published in Britain for almost 10 years.

What to Know About Marijuana Legalization in California

By Katy Steinmetz November 9, 2016

When California voters approved Proposition 64 on Tuesday, the basic idea was simple: a majority of people in America"s most populous state believe that adults should be able to consume marijuana if they feel like it, like a glass of wine at 5 o"clock. But the details of the proposition, which stretches more than 60 pages, are complicated.

TIME spoke to Amanda Reiman, the Drug Policy Alliance"s manager of marijuana law and policy, to talk about what people should know.

What happened on Tuesday?

By a margin of about 56% to 44%, voters passed Proposition 64, making California the fifth state to legalize recreational pot, after Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Later in the evening, results came in showing that voters in Massachusetts and Nevada did the same. The vote happened 20 years after California became the first state to legalize medical marijuana in 1996.

California as potential producer of GMO marijuana and sanctuary for drug distribution gangs?

California and President Trump are going to war with each other

By Philip Bump February 6, 2017

President Trump had harsh words for one of his most fervent opponents during the pre-Super Bowl interview with Fox News"s Bill O"Reilly that aired Sunday. Not President Vladimir Putin, mind you, whose alleged unpleasant habit of murdering journalists met with a shrug from the president. No, Trump lashed out at the nation"s largest state, California.

"I just spent the week in California," O"Reilly said. "As you know, they are now voting on whether they should become a sanctuary state. So California and the U.S.A. are on a collision course. How do you see it?"

"Well, I think it"s ridiculous," Trump replied. "Sanctuary cities, as you know I"m very much opposed to sanctuary cities. They breed crime, there"s a lot of problems.

Trump administration studies seeking the death penalty for drug dealers

The Trump administration is studying new policy that could allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty for drug dealers, according to people with knowledge of the discussions, a sign that the White House wants to make a strong statement in addressing the opioid crisis.

President Trump last week suggested executing drug dealers as a way to make a dent in opioid addiction. Opioids killed nearly 64,000 people in 2016, and the crisis is straining local health and emergency services.

WMD Britain:

How MoD scientists tested chemical weapons including anthrax and the PLAGUE on soldiers and members of the public - and even released dangerous bacteria on the Tube

Scientists experimented on 21,000 servicemen between 1939 and 1989
New book reveals horrors of unwitting Ministry of Defence test subjects
'Plague-like' bacteria spores were even released on London Underground
Volunteers suffered agonising chemical burns, breakdowns and even death

By Imogen Calderwood For Mailonline 8 August 2015

The gruesome reality of chemical experiments carried out by the Ministry of Defence at a controversial 'military science park' over the course of 50 years has been revealed.

Teenager soldiers and servicemen unwittingly volunteered to be human 'guinea pigs' for a series of experiments at Porton Down, in Wiltshire, in the hope of a bit of extra cash.

But the unsuspecting volunteers were exposed to Sarin gas, anthrax and even the Black Death, a new book has revealed.

One victim was left convulsing with "terrible stuff coming out of his mouth like frogspawn"; another teenage serviceman believed he had a four-hour conversation with a school-friend who had died years before, after being injected with a brain-incapacitating drug.

Incredibly, thousands of members of the British public were also unknowingly exposed by government scientists who released spores of a 'plague-like' bacteria on the London Underground in 1963.

Although considered harmless at the time Bacillus globigii - or BG to use its military moniker - can in fact cause food poisoning, eye infections, and even potentially deadly septicaemia.

But none of the London commuters were ever told of the experiment.

Scientists at Porton Down assured their thousands of military volunteers that they were 'totally safe' before exposing them to a series of dangerous experiments.

Despite being turned into "guinea pigs" by their own government, 21,000 servicemen between 1939 and 1989 were only offered token payments, a day off, or even just a free bus pass.

Decades later, in 2008, the government finally apologised for the atrocities that had been carried out on human "guinea pigs" and paid compensation to 670 of the victims.

Historian Ulf Schmidt, a leading academic of modern history at the University of Kent, has revealed exactly what the shocking experiments entailed and the horrific effects they had on their "participants".

The historian, who acted as an expert witness in the Porton Down investigation, has revealed his findings in a new book 'Secret Science: A Century of Poison Warfare and Human Experiments.

Here are some of the most disturbing case studies he has revealed.

Many thousands of Londoners were put at considerable risk by the Ministry of Defence experimentation.

On July 26, 1963, a harmful virus was unleashed on the London Underground.

Spores of the virus Bacillus globigii were released at Colliers Wood, in a tiny box disguised as a make-up compact.

Scientists were trying to discover whether "long distance travel of aerosols" on London"s transport network "was due to transportation within trains" or through the air ventilation systems.

The virus, although considered harmless at the time, has since been proved to cause food poisoning, eye infections and even potentially-deadly septicaemia.

But none of the commuters dusted with the spores were ever warned or contacted afterwards.

Government officials decided that in order to maintain national security, the trial should be kept under wraps.
Ronald Maddison, an RAF engineer from Co Durham, was just 20 when he signed up for one of the hundreds of experiments carried out at the "military science park" of Porton Down, in May 1953.

Assured that he was in no danger, he was guided into a gas chamber with five other test subjects, dressed in oversized overalls, woollen hats and respirators for protection.

Scientists applied twenty drops of liquid to two layers of cloth used in uniforms, serge and flannel, which had been taped to the inside of his forearm.

Just hours later the hapless volunteer was dead, the victim of the most severe case of nerve gas poisoning ever recorded in the western world.

He had been exposed to Sarin, a deadly nerve agent that is now classified by the UN as a weapon of mass destruction.

Legalising cannabis "could earn Treasury £3.5bn"

Report suggests change to law would generate revenue and cut costs across justice system

Jamie Doward 2 Jun 2018

Introducing a legal cannabis market to the UK could earn the Treasury between £1bn and £3.5bn a year in tax revenues, a report has suggested.

Health Poverty Action, an international development organisation, claims that regulating and legalising cannabis in the UK is an "idea whose time has come" and that the windfall could be used to plug the gap in the NHS budget.

"Prohibition has failed," said the group"s advocacy officer, Natasha Horsfield. "From our perspective, it"s about regulating the market to improve public health outcomes and create a safer environment. But we can see the potential benefits from a taxation perspective if we were to regulate it."

Support for such a move is growing. Both the Lib Dems and the Greens favour a regulated cannabis market, but the two main parties remain unenthusiastic.

In 2013, Uruguay became the first country to legalise cannabis. Last year New Zealand pledged to hold a cannabis referendum within three years.

But it is moves in North America that could really presage a change in UK policy. A bill that would make Canada the first G7 country to legalise marijuana is making its way through parliament in Ottawa. In the US, nine states, including Colorado and Washington, have legalised cannabis for non-medical use.

Gene therapy and the trans-human agenda

By Jon Rappoport

"Researchers say they"re well on the way to curing thousands of diseases by tinkering with human genes. But is that true? Or is their effort really part of a long-range agenda to keep experimenting in the dark, through grotesque trial and error, to alter humans and make them into a new species?" (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)

With the onrush of new gene-editing techniques, the medical research establishment is beating an old drum: they will cure many human diseases by making genetic changes.

First of all, the new editing techniques have unknown consequences. A simple snip of a gene can bring on ripples in the patient"s overall genetic structure. This fact spells danger.

Second, and here is the old drum: there are a number of diseases caused by a problem with a single gene "one gene, one disease". Therefore, a precise edit of the offending gene will cure the disease.

But is this one-gene one-disease hypothesis actually true?

If so, we should already have seen these cures. But we haven"t.

I"m not talking about the occasional claim of a single cure in a single patient. I"m talking about curing a specific disease across the board in many, many patients.

It hasn"t happened.

Here is a very interesting quote from the book, "Understanding Genetics: A District of Columbia Guide for Patients and Health Professionals," published by the District of Columbia Department of Health:

"Some of the more common single-gene disorders include cystic fibrosis, hemochromatosis, Tay-Sachs, and sickle cell anemia". However, despite advancements in the understanding of genetic etiology and improved diagnostic capabilities, no treatments are available to prevent disease onset or slow disease progression for a number of these disorders."

Is it "a number of these disorders," or "all these disorders?"

Let"s see the evidence that single-gene therapy has cured ANY disease across the board.

It isn"t forthcoming.

And since it isn"t, the hypothesis that there are single-gene disorders is at best unproven. Speculative.

Let"s say that for Disease X, researchers have found that, in every case, there is a particular gene that is malfunctioning. The researchers claim, "Well, that"s it, we"ve found the cause of X." But have they? HOW DO THEY KNOW THERE AREN"T OTHER ESSENTIAL CAUSATIVE FACTORS INVOLVED?

There is a simple test. Correct the malfunctioning gene and watch thousands of cures for X.

Until that occurs, the hypothesis is up in the air. It"s interesting, it"s suggestive, but it isn"t verified. Not by a long shot.

Consider this typically absurd claim from medicine.net: "There are more than 6,000 known single-gene disorders, which occur in about 1 out of every 200 births. These disorders are known as monogenetic disorders (disorders of a single gene)."

Again, how would the authors show that even one of these supposedly 6000 disorders is caused by the malfunctioning of a single gene?

Cure the disease by correcting the gene.

"Well, ahem, we don"t have the technology to do that yet, because we aren"t sure our therapy would be entirely safe. We might bring about dangerous unintended consequences in the patient"

Fine. Then don"t make the claim that you know a single gene is the cause.

Ah, but you see, the medical research establishment wants to jump the gun. Making bold claims makes them look good. It brings them a great deal of funding.

And it also deflects and stops research that would discover other causes of disease for example, environmental causes connected to gross corporate pollution. Chemical pollution. The harmful effects of pesticides. And the harmful effects of toxic medical drugs. And vaccines.

"No, no, no. Let"s just say disease is, at bottom, genetic. It doesn"t matter what else is happening."

The Holy Grail for genetic research would be: "We can cure any harmful impact brought on by environmental toxicity. It"s all in the genes. Major corporations can do whatever they want to, and there will be no danger. There never was any danger. We just needed to advance to the stage where we could correct damage to the genes. And now we"re there."

They"re not there. They"re not even close. Whether they will ever get close is a matter of sheer speculation.

Here is an extreme but instructive analogy: Imagine that when it rains, an acutely toxic compound falls to Earth. A man stands out in the rain as the poison descends. Researchers assert that the rain isn"t the problem. It"s the man"s body. His body is built to "react negatively" to the poison. Rebuilding his body will make him immune to the poison. Who knows how much sheer trial-and-error rebuilding is necessary? Perhaps he will need to become non-human to survive. So be it.

This approach is part and parcel of the trans-human agenda. Don"t stop the poison. Make the human impervious.

If, in the process, he loses everything that makes him unique and free, that is just collateral damage.

But no matter how many changes are wrought in the human, the poison is still poison. Until, finally, the human is a machine and then the poison has no effect.

Neither does life. Life has no effect. The machine is adjusted. It survives. It is no longer alive, and that is called victory.

If you think I"m exaggerating transhumanism beyond all possibility, contemplate this statement made by Gregory Stock, former director of the prestigious program in Medicine, Technology, and Society at the UCLA School of Medicine:

"Even if half the world"s species were lost [during genetic experiments], enormous diversity would still remain. When those in the distant future look back on this period of history, they will likely see it not as the era when the natural environment was impoverished, but as the age when a plethora of new forms some biological, some technological, some a combination of the two burst onto the scene. We best serve ourselves, as well as future generations, by focusing on the short-term consequences of our actions rather than our vague notions about the needs of the distant future."

The basis for such lunacy is the presumption that The Individual isn"t important, and never was.

Whereas, The Individual is all-important.

A sane society would exist and operate on behalf of The Individual.

It isn"t the other way around.

We're 'closely watching' the market for drinks infused with cannabis extract

Josh Hafner USA Today Sep 17, 2018

Soft drink titan Coca-Cola is "closely watching" the market for drinks infused with cannabidiol, or CBD, the chemical in marijuana believed to relieve pain and anxiety.

Noting the space for cannabidiol-based drinks is "evolving quickly," the company stressed that the ingredient doesn't produce the high that comes from another cannabis-derived chemical known as THC.

"Along with many others in the beverage industry, we are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world," Coca-Cola said Monday in a statement.

"The space is evolving quickly. No decisions have been made at this time."

The statement followed a report that Coca-Cola was allegedly in "serious talks" to develop cannabis-related beverages with Canada's Aurora Cannabis. That report, published by BNN Bloomberg, cited "multiple sources familiar with the matter" but was not denied in statements by both companies.

Aurora, a cannabis producer, wants to enter the infused beverage industry but does "not discuss business development initiatives until they are finalized," spokeswoman Heather MacGregor told the business network.

Bill Gates: The Threat Of A "Disease X" Global Pandemic Is "Very Real"

by Tyler Durden 09/19/2018

When it comes to global health policy, Bill Gates has never been known for subtlety. So it's hardly surprising that his charitable foundation's latest report on the greatest challenges facing mankind might make some readers want to lock themselves in an indefinite quarantine.

Readers familiar with Gates' previous warnings about the rising risk of a global pandemic will recognize the top three risks: antibiotic resistance, governmental reluctance to fund health-care solutions and the next global contagion. The latter risk factor has become so universally feared by health professionals that the World Health Organization already has a name for it: "Disease X". The likelihood of an explosive global pandemic breaking out in the relatively near future increases along with the population in the world's poorest countries, which are presently experiencing explosive population growth even as birth rates in the developed world plummet. And if the world's wealthiest countries don't invest resources to combat these issues in Africa, South America and Asia now, it will be infinitely more expensive grappling with the consequences on the back-end, as Gates explained in an interview with the Telegraph.

"We are not fully prepared for the next global pandemic," he says. "The threat of the unknown pathogen "highly-contagious, lethal, fast-moving "is real. It could be a mutated flu strain or something else entirely. The Swine Flu and 2014 Ebola outbreaks underscored the threat."

The risks associated with the population boom in the poorest countries in Africa has long been treated as "the elephant in the room" by global policy makers. Even if one sets aside the risk of disease, the developing world must step up to monitor the economic impacts of rapidly increasing populations, confronting issues like political instability to ensure that the expansion will yield unbridled growth like similar periods in China and India.

According to demographers projections, the population of Africa is set to explode to 4 billion by the end of the century.
