No exaggeration.
l've been watching (and competed at amateur level) various  motorsports for (mumblemumble) years and never - NEVER seen anything like this happen.

Thankfully no one was hurt.
Lucky escape is understatement of the entire history of the Universe.
Valentino Rossi - number 46 - yellow helmet - was millimetres away from being wiped out (and probably killed) by not 1 but 2  bikes coming at 90 degrees towards him at about 120mph+

Yep Moto2 too..
Me and my mate were deeply shocked and stunned and we were only watching through a screen.
lt sent shivers through me....and left me doing an impression of a goldfish for a couple of minutes.
Freaking fucking shit.....millimetres - thousands of a second either way and it would have been the biggest disaster to ever 'hit' big league bike racing.
There's been a few deaths over the years but this would have dramatically blown the sport up completely...
No serious injuries thankfully.

they are all governed by FIA and FIM(the national organisations have strong bond with the two so they look independent only on paper)

BTCC(uk),Indycar(usa),WES(fra),DTM(ger),VACS,(aust) ect.

they all wear the muzzles

Hamillton said on the GP of Spain "keep wearing those masks to proteck others and your self"

and he was asked to describe his race(he did but added the above),which he won

if they wanted they could leave the driver/rider to wear helmet or balackava when they speak after the race

we know whay they didn't
