Mikhail Liebestein
One of the ironies of the whole COVID lockdown is that the generation responsible for absorbing and parroting most of the COVID fear and driving facemasks, are the same generation who were out protesting Vietnam (under threat of police/military violence) and also ignoring the Hong Kong Flu. Maybe it is age and hypocrisy on their side, but one feature of that time was some great protest music. One of my personal favourites being Buffalo Springfield, For What It's Worth. https://youtu.be/gp5JCrSXkJY Although often considered an anti-war song, it is suggested Stephen Stills was inspired to write the song because of the Sunset Strip curfew riots in November 1966—a series of early counterculture-era clashes that took place between police and young people on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Anyway, music against curfew (lockdown) has to be a good thing. But where are the protest songs? All I can think of is: Stormzy, Vossi Bop, with the F-Boris version: https://youtu.be/9ClYy0MxsU0 and some parody songs: https://youtu.be/M5azNpTwVk8 Edited August 16, 2020 by Mikhail Liebestein
Mikhail Liebestein
Found some COVID stuff by 'Quentin Quarantino' on Apple Music, but not very protest, more statement of current position stuff. Has the music industry banned protest? Whilst this is pretty cool sounding, it supports Government orthodoxy: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=gcn5GBP_w7U&list=RDAMVMgcn5GBP_w7U Edited August 16, 2020 by Mikhail Liebestein

Mikhail Liebestein
May be this should be merged with the Music with an Anti Oppression, Anti-Acquiescence thread which was posted at around the same time (great minds)! PS, I loved the video in that thread:

AXPCalledJeff
Good to know there are still genuine music artist out there, although that doesn't suprise me. The trick is actually finding these honest and caring talents since you won't find much, if any, in the mainstream media. Unless to demonise them, Michael Jackson immediately comes to mind. Personally, the tv has always bin a joke to me but that the radio is complety and utter shit (pardon) really disappoints me. I honestly couldn't name one single radio station that brings out the real music. Real music to me meaning made by creative, independent and inspired people. Smokestack Lightnin'
I've never been one for crashing power chords, guttural creaming, scary masks, painted faces. I hate synthesized drumbeats, pitch correction and any computer involvement that makes those 'bootchy! bootchy! pow! pow! echo beats. My biggest bugbear though is hip hop. Those illiterate degenerates that 'sing' about their 'mudda fukka muddas, gonna pump ya full of lead until you are dead' are perhaps the only time I'd agree that a depopulation cull might not be a bad idea. Modern music has its roots in black slavery which kicked off in the 1930's / 1940's with jazz, blues and gospel. All the great jazz men and blues men like John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, John Lee Hooker, Leadbelly must be spinning in their graves watching untalented reprobates like Stormzy, Snoop Dog, Slow Thai et al. Just give me a man a guitar and attitude without all the faux bad boy dramatics!
