- TZC -
I haven't had an experience yet but I'm bound to at some point and I'm worried about it. I do not do well with confrontation and avoid it in most situations giving a lot to keep the peace. But I'm not wearing a mask for anyone. I just hope it can be ignored, just verbal abuse. Because I don't trust myself to keep cool if it can't be for example following, trying to physically block me, or worse. I'm not a tough guy. I haven't put hands on anyone in around 25 years and even then it was last resort, me or them, I'm just afraid that some righteous twat might push me over the threshold. it takes a lot, but once it happens I don't follow half measures. Things are so disappointing sureal and miserable at the moment I feel like my long fuse has shortened - I'm concerned because of that. I might try making a lanyard actually stating I'm a crazy c**t so keep your distance, protect your teeth, save the NHS heh

- TZC -
I said I wouldn't wear a mask for anyone.. Actually there is one instance. My stepfather is 85 and terrified of this virus. Hasn't left the house in near 6 months. I'd wear one if he agreed I could visit. Sad times. EDIT: Also sorry for semi derailing the thread, It's supposed to be about experiences and I don't have one. Next post, I'll share the experience Edited July 26, 2020 by - TZC - Apologies for off topic
greenheart
Thanks to all those who have had the backbone. Respect. I've not been anywhere near shops yet as I haven't needed to. But I'm wondering, has anyone been refused entry? Perhaps this is more likely in either very small shops, or very large ones (with a security presence)? And what about on public transport? Tell me about your experiences with buses, trains, ferries. Edited July 27, 2020 by greenheart 1
anomie
Dropped my kid off at the nursery this morning, saw a lady walk past (in the wide open outside, no-one around ) and was masked, and had also got her 4 year old kid wearing one, who understandably wouldn't stop fiddling with it. Words fail me seeing this with my own eyes, I couldn't do it to my daughter. Outside, wide open space.....still masked. Failing to see the logic, it's obviously in the air and coming to attack us all!

I live next to a small bargain booze, and as you can imagine, it's very busy especially on weekends, especially in these times lots of people popping in and coming out with there bottles. The staff in there are very strict, and I've been keeping my eye on what's been going on, I'm not nosey (well not a lot). Lol. Saw most people queuing outside with masks, the ones that didn't have a mask, looked like they were being chased, either going back to their cars to get a mask, or pulling them out of there pockets or walking away. I've noticed over past couple of days it's very quiet in the street as they pass by my house so a lot of people have stopped going there. A few streets away is a little shop, has a notice on the door about the 2 metre rules, but nobody takes any notice, no masks in sight, shop doesn't ask, and the street was packed last night, with cars, never seen it so busy. It seems people are voting with there feet. It was lovely to go into like normal. Seems the shopkeeper who is a nice man, is being kept busy. Good for him. CyprusAvenue
Yesterday saw a trial run to my local store where I have a weekly order. I put on my mask but it only covered my mouth meaning my nose was exposed, nobody said anything so reckon I got away with it! This morning saw me visit a large supermarket, facially naked (love that expression). Held my head high whilst shuffling along, pushing a trolley and was definitely the only customer from what I could see who wasn't wearing a muzzle. For authenticity my mouth was open at all times. Nobody said a word, not even the staff. When it came to checkout time I noticed an operator facially naked so headed over. Oh my goodness, I was told where I had to put the trolley. No no, move it along further. You must stand on the blue whatever it was. When I came out there was a bloke walking in front of me pushing his trolley, still wearing a mask and talking gibberish into his phone. Goodness only knows how anyone could understand what he was saying. To be fair, I'm from DI's generation and look rough due to rubbish health so perhaps people are less inclined to engage. Who knows. Go on, give it a go!

Problem child
I recognise that naked guy. Sure he is a youtuber, ex vegan, definitely seen a few of his vids So I thought I would share my rather uneventful maskless experience. Not been to my big tesco's yet as I am a coward, but went to Pets at Home today. Loads of staff on the floor with the black masks and visors. One poor lady on checkout on her own wearing a mask. I came over to pay and she didnt seem offended to see my full face and acted normal. It ended up being a right faff as she needed name and address as I was buying a prescription wormer. Couldnt find me on system, big que growing behind me. Im stood there unmasked giving out all my details, name, email. Bit uncomfortable. Eventually she says 'I cant stand these masks' and pulls it down over her chin so she can see what she's doing. I said 'I know I cant deal with them either'. Maybe I should have said something else, but Im not that quick at thinking on the spot sometimes. Im gonna have to toughen up to face the ominous tesco

It's so frustrating when people see themselves as so powerless. When in actual fact if she (and millions others) realised we only need to have a little bit of back bone, this wouldn't need to be suffered.
Michi713
Whoever has the ability to stand up to it should do so. I take it back I’m not a pussy. I have to pick my battles. I’ve got to live here in this small town. My stylist has to wear a mask whether she likes it or not, so what am I going to do deny someone I’ve known for years money because I’ve got a revolution? She has a kid to feed too. When my husband returns to work he has to wear a mask on hot stages, get tested weekly and daily if the “talent” is on set. Yeah it sucks but he has to put food on the table. I can’t stomp around my town getting into mask confrontations because my husband doesn’t need reports of his wife getting into arguments all over town. Same reason I can’t run around naked it’s just bad for business. Calling myself and others a pussy isn’t the way to go. I don’t know what the stakes are for others and everyone has a line. Some people have willingly given up their guns to their governments. Do I call them cowards? No. I don’t know them.
HeartSpirit
I believe everyone should listen to their own sense of ethics, morality and what is right or wrong. It is the people that blindly obey authority that are prolonging this situation.
Michi713
Everyone who is blaming everyone else for the masks is just as much virtue signaling. By all means go out and be rad. Mr H
I live near southend in essex. The large supermarkets have someone on the door - so I just simply avoided these stores, so not sure what would have happenned. So I just went to the independent store and they served me no problem at all, some customers were wearing masks some weren't. I also wrote to my MP about masks. Part of the reply I received said "Whilst many people are already choosing to wear face masks, it is obviously a huge infringement of people’s civil liberties. I also believe it will be difficult to enforce and must be left to people’s common sense and the community spirit to try and stop the spread of infection and save lives." Reading between the lines I kinda from the above and the tone of the email in general, I got the impression he isn't that keen on the masks himself. Personally I will not wear one unless there is a real necessity to do so. So far there hasn't been. Independent shops and online supermarkets have served me fine. If I have to go on the train I will say I can't wear one because of anxiety. But I do have a Donald Trump facemask, so I will bring that with me and put it on if they were to be insistent!
