Big Announcement Unites Forum

To you apologists for Gareth; there have been numerous offers put to him to make the/a forum so as he would have little involvement in it.

The way he has treated those who have tried to help with the new ‘forum’, and those wanting to have an alternative to the new ‘forum’ by not answering their communications is rude and arrogant.

The obvious conclusion is, he doesn’t give a shit; that’s all; his way or no way.

would you say the forum format as is currently in use better .  old hat or maybe    has proven its self for many years to have offered sound logical opinions

Absolutely, for the type of participation I enjoy most definitely yes. In my opinion it's not really "old hat". Each platform type has their place, Most of the other social media platforms are better suited to "short and snappy" disposable comments rather than conversations.

The first proper forum that I joined was in the very early 2000's after David Icke appeared on This Morning with Richard and Judy. A link to the forum was posted on the DI website and I joined to counter some of the venom that was being spat in his direction. Since then I have always preferred the forum format.

One thing I do agree with is that the communication (or lack thereof) has not been great. However I have no idea what he's going through so I'm not going to be as critical as some people are. It's not an easy thing to do, and it's possibly that he's been a bit out of his depth on this, but yeah at the very minimum we should have been kept properly informed about what was happening and not left to feel like our contributions are disposable and of little worth.

so can you lurk on the new forum?

Dont think  lurk / lurkers is in my opinion fair or correct to many of the silent voices who guest here I think a better description  of them as curious or inquisitive minds potentially looking to try make sense of things one of the best opportunities the info gathering could & can do in bringing awareness..

So do you agree it would be important to be able to access the forum from di main site as that is where you discovered it

We've brought in a new pair of webmasters, on staff rather than paying outside companies. They've completely rebuilt everything so it's all integrated together. Thats the main site, ickonic, the shop, and the forum.

The social aspect was a webmasters idea and he has spent a while building it. We were hoping that we could build up a community aswell as a forum for debate. We get tonnes of emails daily from people that feel alone and disconnected from friends and family when it comes to their views. They avoid posting on FB about their beliefs as it comes back and they get abused for it etc. They ask if there is a community that we know of. Hence trying to set up something that would assist that.

Unfortunately in the list of things, the forum isn't at the top so when major issues have come up with the site, or ickonic, the forum gets knocked down the list. That's not ideal, and its frustrating for me too, as I'm hassling to get stuff done, and then I get shirty posts and shirty emails about things not being fixed on time.

A few have messaged and commented about them not wanting the new social aspect and I have sent all of them across to the webmaster.

My Dad wanted to keep the forum as a free place that people can interact and share ideas, but obviously he is insanely busy and so isn't involved hands on. I saw a comment saying we wanted to move everything behind a paywall. That's absolutely not true and the forum will, as always, be completely free.

There were a lot of bugs in the new forum and they are being fixed. I got access to the forum at exactly the same time as the other mods, so I was also going in blind. I would have liked a while to go through it myself but it has dragged on so much that I was desperate to get it sorted.

I understand that some people won't like the new set up and I understand that they might want to set up their own forum. I would absolutely encourage them to do that. The more places with people talking about what's happening, the better.

I am genuinely sorry that it's taken as long as it has. I have been hassling and prodding for weeks, but we're a small team and everything has multiple jobs, which is why I started work at 6 am and am still here at 10pm. I have spoken to the webmaster today and will be getting an update first thing.

We'll keep both forums running along side each other, and if people would prefer, we could simply let people sign up if they wish, and not have them set up automatically.

The forum I joined back then was the "This Morning" ITV forum which was running on vbulletin. David referenced it on his website because people were slagging him off and I joined to provide a bit of balance and had a few forum skirmishes with "John the Sceptic". This was before there was a David Icke forum, but to answer your question about the ability to lurk, I think at least some of the forum content should be "discoverable" by non members.

Thanks for the update. I don't think anyone minds a little wait longer so long as all the issues brought forth by the mods and others get ironed out.

hi Gareth, could you not take the pressure off yourself and allow the current MODS here to fix this forum and run it were they can back it up and deal with any glitches, problems as they arise. NO-ONE here wants any of this to go pear-shaped. We all owe a lot to your dad for our awaking and feel this is the least we could do to keep all integrity and at least honour our teacher so to speak. It would free up your time and resources, and the MODS here know everyone and have a hands on approach for the greater good for ALL parties

I believe its important all forum content is discoverable & available for all & anyone to be able to reach their own conclusions to the information it contains

If he is ‘going through’ stuff - as are most of the worlds population at the moment - he could have had a quiet word with one of the mods to that effect; instead of downright ignoring them.

If he is ‘out of his depth’, again, he has had numerous offers of help; no excuses; he’s been in this ‘game’ long enough.

Imo he just doesn’t want a forum in its present state, for whatever reason.

I can answer this to some extent on Gareth's behalf in case he has now logged off. According to my PMs with Gareth this evening, he will be sitting down with the webmaster to iron out the issues with this existing forum tomorrow. I take that to mean the Cloudflare issues, allowing new members to sign up again and sorting out back ups. Hopefully he will correct me if I am wrong on any of this.

Gareth has said that he will update me again afterwards. I will pass on any updates unless of course Gareth gets there first.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad I didn't slate you :classic_biggrin: I would like to stay where we are personally with a few tweaks hopefully. So a vote for sign up here (and I wont XD)

Im glad I did; why couldn’t this have been said much earlier?

Would have saved a hell of a lot of frustration - especially for the mods - and uncertainty etc for the rest of us.

What a farce ?

Again, I don't know exactly what's been going on behind the scenes, however I do believe that he has been trying his best in tough circumstances.

As he said in his reply, the forum hasn't been at the top of the priority list and as a result has taken a bit of a beating. For those of us that are strongly attached to the forum and to a proper forum experience, that's not what we want to hear, given what's been going on in the last 4 months I can understand why some things have taken a hit, and that the team are doing what they can to fix things.  It doesn't sound like the new set up will be to my taste, but I could be wrong.

I took the afternoon off yesterday (a Sunday) and went for some beers with my brother. Something I haven't done for months.

I then got up to very shitty emails from ink about how I was ignoring him but posting on Twitter. I wasn't checking emails as I had taken the afternoon off.

I have since read through all the posts in this forum and the insults for things I've had nothing to do with, and I'm out.

I will talk to Dwayne on Wednesday as I've said I would, and will advise that someone else takes over the forum, and we'll remove ourselves from it.

Don't need this. It's a free forum that was provided, and has caused nothing but hassle. I have a million different jobs to juggle and being told "you're not your dad" is not one of them.

The original forum is on a server that our current webmasters can't get access to. We've had a history of dreadful webmasters. Some bad, some I would suggest intentionally bad. And we're picking up the broken bits of china and trying to put them back together.

The original forum will eventually be put back up, but I don't know when that will be because it's not actually me trying to find it. I wouldn't know where to start.

Once again, I'm sorry for the issues.

Have you not read this whole thread?

Basket Case et al have been banging their heads against a brick wall; trying to do all they can to help Gareth and the webmasters with the new ‘forum’; doing their best for us!

With little or no communication from Gareth etc.

Yes I've read all of that and it doesn't really change what I said.

Running a forum can be a proper ballache and it's a lot easier to criticise from the outside when you're not getting incoming flak from all angles.

Anyway I think Gareth has explained himself and I won't be joining in with the lynchmob. Like I said, I appreciate his efforts and I hope that the new fangled setup is a success, even if it isn't to my taste.

Hi everyone, just wanted to say I hope everything goes well with the new forum. This has been my lifeline, I don't have anybody really that believes what's going on. So I'm on my own,  but I can only say thank you so very much for doing your research and posting, I feel like I know your personalities so well, and it's good you see you all have your own inputs and your own strengths. But each of you have made things better for me, and opened my eyes even wider. I never posted much always felt I couldn't post anything as in depth as you lot did, but posted how I was feeling about the situation. I feel like things are kinda getting out of control with the government, it's like there on steroids just bringing in any rule they want, and the sheep are worshipping them like their gods. It seems they need a new religion and it's the conviru. Anyway thankyou so much and hope the new forum works out, if it doesn't I will be gutted, it's my daily sanctuary away from all the madness. Thanks everyone xx
