To Liberals, the bill will protect Canadians from online abuse – but to those concerned about freedom and civil liberties, it is a law that will have a chilling effect on free speech.' EnigmaticWorld
30/04/21 EU passes controversial law forcing 60-minute takedowns of “terrorist” content https://reclaimthenet.org/eu-passed-60-minute-takedowns-of-terrorist-content/ 'Some fear that the law will have a chilling effect on free speech as there is little oversight and it’s left to interpretation what authorities define as “terroristic.” Platforms that fail to comply with the law will be fined. The law, which will come into effect a year after it is published in the EU’s official journal, will be adopted by all member states.'

As a few people have recently stated, "A Chinese virus a chinese society" I also found this interesting, https://www.adamsmith.org/news/online-safety-bill-frightening-and-historic-attack-on-freedom-of-expression Edited May 12, 2021 by newmember
newmember
also, found this https://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/online-abuse-why-management-liability-isnt-the-answer/ in it there is a paragraph which looks to be another attempt to end online encryption "Before the Bill even exists in law, we are already seeing calls for the “duty of care”, and the subjective risks within it, to be dragged down a very slippery slope. For example, a report from the Centre for Social Justice think tank, headed by former Home Secretary Sajid Javid, calls for Ofcom (the upcoming online harms regulator) to “treat high-risk design features like end-to-end encryption as breaches of the Duty of Care and sanctions should be able to apply retroactively.” The report also notes that “It will be insufficient for a platform to argue that introducing such a high-risk design feature will have other benefits in spaces like user privacy and preventing online financial crime.”

Mitochondrial Eve
Germany demands Telegram provide law enforcement access to user data over concerns about extremist groups, and threatens a multi-million euro fine (up to 55 million). Germany threatens Telegram app with fines, demands access for law enforcement – media https://www.rt.com/news/526412-germany-telegram-app-fine/?tg_rhash=8b7b9f9e18d765 Quote Amid reports of drug markets, criminality, and the spread of “misinformation” on Telegram, Durov has consistently denied state authorities access to his users’ data. Privacy is paramount, and the company’s selling point. “To this day, we have disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments,” reads a statement on Telegram’s website. The German government isn’t happy with this arrangement, however. In an article profiling Durov, Der Spiegel revealed on Friday that the German Justice Ministry is demanding the platform “make itself accessible to the authorities … delete criminal content promptly and … actively pass on user data to investigators.” Germany’s Network Enforcement Act requires Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter to delete any illegal or harmful content that is reported to them. The act did not previously apply to Telegram, but the Justice Ministry now wants it to comply. On top of that, the Federal Office of Justice, operating under the auspices of the ministry, is investigating Telegram for not offering a criminal complaint procedure, and for failing to nominate a contact person for the authorities. The company could be fined up to €55 million ($66.6 million), Der Spiegel reported. News of the apparently impending crackdown comes just a day after the authorities in Frankfurt dissolved an elite police unit. The special operations command, known as SEK, was disbanded after some 20 members of the force used messaging apps to exchange extremist content, including images of Adolf Hitler and swastikas, which are outlawed in Germany. It is unclear which apps the officers used, but previous crackdowns on right-wing extremism in law enforcement circles have centered around WhatsApp group chats. Unlike Telegram, Facebook-owned WhatsApp cooperates with the authorities to remove illegal content.

Mitochondrial Eve
Dresden Higher Regional Court imposes a fine of 100,000 euros on YouTube The Higher Regional Court of Dresden has fined YouTube 100,000 Euros for removing a video covering a coronavirus protest in Switzerland. The video was taken down in late January 2021 and was removed due to alleged "medical misinformation". It took several weeks for YouTube to restore it after it was previously ordered by the court to put the video back online with immediate effect on 20th April 2021. It was finally restored on 14th May 2021 and the fine reflects YouTube's delay in doing so. The point is to change history so that when the older people die off from the jabs ( and some younger ones) there wont be anyone to tell the real history. Even ancient history has been changed many times, plenty of monuments have been changed- the Sphinx is one such. Its been done before. Scrubbing the internet is the modern version.
