QuodHumana
The picture is of all the pubs in Great Britain, according to Google Maps. My theory is that the amount of drinking done in GB is, because of the very unpleasant history of Great Britain towards the world across the ages. That's one reason of course, but i think it is a definitive contributing factor. It is a really depressing thought at what GB as done to so many people in many countries. I think that is also why Australians drink so much. The population that went to Australia were a bunch of criminals and it weighs heavily on their minds. This is not intended at all to be a post to cause conflict, but merely an observation. That is my theory and my opinion of course.
EnigmaticWorld
The Brits are a conquered people too, we was just conquered before others so that we could be used as pawns against other nations. Maybe the drinking is because the Brits are often pissed off with things and they want to unwind. The Russians have a big drinking problem too and I have often wondered if it's because of what they have been through with communism. Ireland likes it's drink too which is understandable with what they have been through. Edited June 28, 2020 by EnigmaticWorld

It's the same the whole world over, It's the poor wot gets the blame, It's the rich wot gets the gravy. Ain't it all a bleedin' shame? Name some countries that don't have dark events in their past. The Chinese treatment of Tibet, the Belgians in the congo, tha Japanese massacring the chinese, the Zulu killing millions of other africans, etc, etc. At the moment though it is the White Brits who are claimed as responsible for every evil ever done lol. We drink a lot because we like to drink, in the 17th century we were castigated for going to the tavern on sundays and not going to the church. kj35
It wasn't so long ago that "poor beer" was drunk by the majority including children as an alternative to water as this was clean an uncontaminated. The difference now is the strength. Even the bible on Timothy says to 'drink a little wine for the stomachs sake" Now we drink bleach and fluoridated water. I'd rather have wine Edited June 28, 2020 by kj35
oz93666
The average person is not ridden with guilt over their countries past deeds . Until quiet recently the average brit was quiet proud of their Empire .... Recent indoctrination in schools has made the young guilty about everything ... The best explanation I have come across to explain excessive alcohol consumption is from the work of Mollison .... Most of recorded history has been harsh for people , long hours of toil to get enough to eat , and they took to drink as an escape at the end of the day .... these habits have momentum and continue in our lives in present days. Tinfoil Hat
A lot of pubs have been struggling ever since they banned smoking. Personally, I accept zero guilt for anything done by governments or royalty, past, present or future.
eddy64
75 % of the pubs in my area have shutdown, all the steel industry has mostly gone so no need for 15 pints after a shift at the rolling mill.

Michi713
Alcohol is a stupifier drug. Widely accepted because it’s users don’t threaten the elite agenda. Like burgers and fries, keep them fat and stupid. That map to me represents millions of livelihoods destroyed by the government during lockdown. (stayed down mates house for a mini sesh last night and having a cure now). i did dry january and april. i'm also off red meat for nearly a year. don't miss it at all. burgers can go fuck
