We were due to go to Benalmedina in early May , Fuengarola last week for my sis in law 50th

both cancelled and we were supposed to hit Cala Bona in September . We shall receive a refund for

the Spain trips however we are trying to move September's Majorca  trip to next year . We have booked a

4 day caravan holiday in Yarmouth instead !.

We are hoping to take a break in February somewhere warm , Canary Islands or Cyprus possibly Cape Verde.

Yeah I know it's going to be a nause . Masks on the plane and all that. places are open too and the distancing in them is strong.  I was in tenerife March 12 th when lockdown kicked in and got a flight home following Wednesday so know how hardcore they are .

I have chosen tenerife though because I am so familiar with it and know people there.

I'm gonna be happy with a few bars open and the beach .my expectations are low .

I just need to get out of dodge for a while....and visit another dodge ???

I would definitely not be going somewhere new

I don't even like travelling 2 miles to my local grocer.  The vibe in the air is something I do not want to subject myself to, and seeing all the dumb-ass lemmings walking around who are going to decide my life for me because they outnumber the intelligent, sane people about 25 to 1.  It gives me heartburn.

I wouldn't wear a mask on the plane. I'd claim a health condition if challenged.

Tanzania might be a good shout for a holiday. Their president called bullshit on the whole thing, didn't he? So I think it would be pretty normal there

What are your thoughts

I've booked a sleazy jet ?? 10 days on August 1st ...off to tenerife

I was  waiting on that corridor announcing

Anyone else going to go overseas?

At the start of this year, I was hoping to go and see some more of the British Isles.

It's strange, I didn't really want to go overseas anywhere, I guess I enjoyed my caravan holiday in Wales last year too much. ?

But I did really fancy going to places like Jersey, Isle Of Man, even Ireland. I still can't believe I've never been to Scotland. ?

It's been bad enough trying to get on a plane with all the rigmarole involved in the last few years. I dread to think what it is going to be like 'post-COVID19'. Probably horrible.

Might have to look into getting an overnight ferry.

I know what you mean buddy . We have been to Los Cristianos a couple of times

I've been to Lanzarote a couple of times now, Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero.

I loved it. The first time I ever travelled there, we arrived late in the evening. So it wasn't until I woke up in the morning that I saw the beautiful landscape.

I've never known a desolate desert be so beautiful.

We stayed at Costa Teguise, the beauty of Lanzarote is that all buildings have to be low rise

so no eye sores !. Did you have a go on the camels at the volcanic mountain the name of which

escapes me ?.

No we never ventured that far unfortunately.

I did really enjoy my trip out on the 'water bus' between Puerto Calero and Puerto del Carmen, was great to get out onto the sea.

I live in Lanzarote most of the time. The camel rides up the volcano is Timanfaya national park. I love the energy here, and the low rise buildings, beautiful beaches and of course the weather. Things are beginning to open up now, flights are about to restart and tourist accommodation about to open. Currently living near the sea in Matagorda, it was torture not being able to go to the beach for weeks on end!

The downside is that virtually all shops insist on mask wearing, some also insist on gloves and temperature taking, no exceptions without a doctors certificate and if not in Spanish it mus be officially translated. However, there are one or two tourist supermarkets I can still enter unmasked. It is common to see people strolling along the sea front miles from anyone else but still wearing a mask, or driving alone in their car complete with mask. It does feel very lonely sometimes as I don’t know any awake people here which is why this forum has helped keep me (more or less sane) over the past few months.

I'm not. They force passengers to wear masks on the flights, don't they? That's a heck of a lot of hours down to the Canaries with a mask over your face! And when you return, you have to quarantine for 14 days in Britain. Well, of course you only need to keep your distance from strangers as before... They won't come and check up on everybody, will they.

Is going on a vakay for a few days worth being treated like a bar-coded livestock?  Not in my book, I refuse.  And until more people REFUSE, this shit is just going to get worse and worse while they slowly cook all of you frogs in the proverbial hot pot.

I agree with all which is being said

And it is going to get worse

So I'm going to get away now for week or so while I can before the vaccine passports happen. And we have pretty much been treated like cattle when we travel by plane for a long  time

Ever since 9/11 travel around the worid has been made harder

Imo travel is made hard because when we meet people from different countries we realise we are all the same ....but this basic stuff we all know I would hope.

So I'm gonna play the game a little bit more .. sticking a muzzle on my face is nothing compared to having God knows what jabbed into arm.

So I'm off to appreciate what I can get , while I can  ,   maybe for the last time  and even  have a few interesting conversations perhaps..who knows ?‍♀️?‍♀️??

An interesting one that.  I think if they continue with the maskie BS it is going to come off the rails by then.  Your October trip to Paris is in the period when they will be looking at bringing in the second wave, again I am getting feedback (average Joe types) on the street that people will not be so lockdown compliant in future.
