What would happen if people just said "fk you" and not use their social credit system? In other words, what if we just stopped all their shit?

Just curious.

Those in charge would probably start a nuclear war to reset the game.

I sometimes wonder if what we're going through has already happened multiple times on earth, maybe the goal is to permanently trap us and each time we realise the game's reset.

What if the biblical flood was their doing.

Very good point. I have lots and lots and lots of old computer hardware. I had hope to leech the gold off them but that's been such a time and money consuming process and I don't have a forge to convert the flakes into anything (I've managed to get that far with it). At least chopping it all into something useful would be more productive.

I wonder how good of a spearpoint could be made by cleaning boards completely, cutting the pattern and then gluing the pieces together. Then sanding/grinding it down to a sharpened point...

This might (or might not) be part of the on-going erosion of people's personal wealth and independence - just thinking out loud.

My recently married daughter & hubby are currently in a flat, and looking to buy their 1st home together. They're both on decent incomes so have got a very good mortgage value 'agreed in principle' for a 1st home, yet they're struggling to get sorted.

Apparently, when they like a place that is being marketed, they 'have to' just put in their best & final offer - then wait to hear (up till now) that, even after offering £10K above the asking price, their offer's been beaten so that's the end of that.

I asked, who has dictated these terms, and was told that's how all the estate agents are organising things currently. They are in Manchester, so I'd be interested to know whether people have encountered the same set up in other regions?

Anyway, I pointed out that if I was a vendor, I would be telling the estate agents that I wouldn't comply with this - who the hell are those parasites to stipulate such things! What occurs to me is that, if mortgage lenders are actually backing mortgages for values above & beyond the worth of properties because they are greedy sods, out to rake in the big profits for pretend, notional money swapping hands (well screens) then it's bound to end in a negative equity extravaganza. Who the flip benefits from resulting mess? They just seem to want everyone up shit creek by as many routes as possible. My thinking is still that once everyone's completely screwed, we'll all be grateful for the state, our saviours, to step in and expunge our debts in return for our humble servitude. Perhaps I am paranoid.

According to other simpleton family members, there's nothing you can do about anything, it's just the way things are. What the feck is wrong with everybody that they all are happy to roll over all the time like docile ninnies, rather than actually challenge anything? (I'm always angry these days).

It pisses me off a lot. I neither want or need their cash but will have no choice but to take it. Then be worse of every month paying it back. I plan to put the cash to one side and use it to pay itself back

I was trying to buy property in Yorkshire. I gave up for similar reasons. It's a sellers market. Properties unless they're a complete shitehole, or a flat, are being sold in a couple of weeks. Some properties I was even refused viewings by the agents because they "already had enough" and would deffo sell - even though they didn't know what I was offerring.

The positive news for buyers is that we have just entered a new interest rate cycle. Interest rates will be going up for probably the next 2 decades at least maybe more. Hard to imagine for the younger generations, but the older generations should feel familiar with this. So lot of folks who got all these houses on leverage will probably have to sell . On the negative side the government has allowed folks like Lloyds to be participants in the retail market.

Yes, something bothered me about the incoming £150 'help' for Council Tax bands A-D. I thought how though I am only on £23k gross per year, I can get by without any problems with eating food of my choice and paying bills. Then I hear there might be other 'helps' coming down the pike. Perhaps there will come a time soon when I WILL need financial help but giving it to me now seems to me to be a form of grooming.

I see a fat, sweaty man with a mop of blonde hair and a plummy voice taking my money in the form of taxes and offering a small amount of it back in the form of sweeties as if it were a gift from his heart.

When he offers the financial equivalent of a puppy to a sweet, I imagine that will be the moment when he drops his trousers and barks perverse orders.

Yes, instead of giving back a handout, central govt could have told councils to reduce council tax bills (or have their central govt payments stopped)  - more efficient and cheaper. Really, Councils should have given everyone a rebate for services not received during 2020 and 2021.

Did you know ALan Turing 'committed suicide' with cyanide... I wonder what did he know that he had to die 😐 It would be probably interesting 'conspiracy theory' if we had internet back that time...

People can't even afford to eat as the economic collapse looms, tesco reports drop in sales as more and more turn to foodbanks as the only way to live:

I volunteer at a larder, which is a lot like a food bank, but for everyone - no Q's asked.

We have recently had a huge increase in members. It's really devastating to see.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to keep stocked up as we depend on donations.

Respect to you Ally. You're doing something really positive in the most miserable of circumstances. Governments when they talk about foodbanks etc ignore the loss of dignity a normal person has when using foodbanks. The humiliation of not being able to provide for your family, especially when you are working your fingers to the bone.

Once again, you have my utmost respect

Thank you Bombadil, that's really kind of you :)

Absolutely, I completely agree. It can be a very difficult issue for many people. But the rise of Larders are helping many, thankfully :) people can choose what they want, instead of the typical prepackaged foodbank goods. It's like a little shop where you don't need to pay.

We get a lot of produce from the supermarkets that's about to go out of date (it's amazing how long this food lasts, still looks fresh when it arrives.) Saves waste and helps those who need it the most.

My manager has been incredible, setting it all up. She even hosts free wellbeing/yoga classes to help people out.

I must admit, since volunteering there, my faith in humanity really has been restored due to the kindness of others donating.

It's just sad we have got to this stage :(

I can only imagine it'll get more busy.

We gave out free seeds for fruit and veg, so hopefully that'll give us more stock to work with in the future :)
