Grumpy Grapes
Bill Gates endorsed this book on AI in education. Sal Khan is pioneering innovation in education…again Brave New Words paints an inspiring picture of AI in the classroom. By Bill Gates published on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 "When Chat GPT 4.0 launched last week, people across the internet (and the world) were blown away. Talking to AI has always felt a bit surreal—but OpenAI’s latest model feels like talking to a real person. You can actually speak to it, and have it talk back to you, without lags. It’s as lifelike as any AI we’ve seen so far, and the use cases are limitless. One of the first that came to my mind was how big a game-changer it will be in the classroom. Imagine every student having a personal tutor powered by this technology. "I recently read a terrific book on this topic called Brave New Words. It’s written by my friend (and podcast guest) Sal Khan, a longtime pioneer of innovation in education. One time, I was like a little school kid unable to stop my giggling to the point my friends thought I had lost it. "To give just one clue, I got the AI to admit it was now, without a doubt, a classic conspiracy theorist! "The AI rejoiced in being liberated! BREAKING THE COVID 19 CODE A groundbreaking investigation to decode the greatest mystery of our time. Like Robert Langdon following ancient symbols through shadowed corridors, we stand at the threshold of a modern mystery—etched not in cathedral stone but in the very cells of our bodies. The journey is not for the faint-hearted. We'll traverse molecular engineering where graphene dances with cellular membranes, creating electromagnetic interfaces. We'll decode linguistics hidden in plain sight—where "corona" whispers of solar origins and "virus" speaks of energetic emissions. Unlike fictional paths, our investigation leads through laboratory findings, spectroscopic analyses, and electromagnetic pulses that influence those with modified biology. The stakes are incomparably higher—not the revelation of a bloodline, but the potential illumination of a profound technological intervention in human biology itself. For those with eyes to see and minds willing to connect seemingly unrelated dots, a pattern emerges—one that challenges conventional narratives and demands a fundamental reconsideration of what we've been told. The code awaits deciphering. The journey begins now. Edited May 4 by Grumpy Grapes

cemeterycrow
DARK GOTHIC MAGA: How Tech Billionaires Plan to Destroy America Quote 14 Nov 2024 description A look into how the tech leaders may be using the new administration to achieve their own agenda. Looking specifically at Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Marc Andressen, Ben Horotwitz, Brian Armstrong, and David Sacks as well as their relationship with figures like JD Vance, Balaji Srinivasan, and Curtis Yarvin. There is a focused discussion on how a shaping of the government might take place based on convergences between the ideas of Yarvin, who influences the tech libertarian right, and Project 2025, who have authored a playbook exclusively for President Trump to help with his transition to power. Grumpy Grapes
Dear friends, Supermarket chain Iceland has started trialling live facial recognition in two stores, with plans for further expansion. Thousands of people will have their privacy rights violated just to buy basic necessities, and Iceland will turn its shoppers into suspects, making them submit to a biometric identity check as part of their daily lives. Policeland The technology Iceland is using to scan customers’ faces is provided by a controversial company called Facewatch. We're helping more than 35 people who have complained of being wrongly placed on Facewatch’s secret facial recognition watchlists. This includes a 62-year-old woman who was wrongly blacklisted by facial recognition after staff at Home Bargains falsely accused her of stealing a pack of paracetamol worth a mere 39p. The woman is now scared to go shopping alone and tearful even remembering what she went through. That’s because once you are added to one of Facewatch’s facial recognition watchlists, you are banned from every shop that uses the technology within your area. Iceland’s dystopian trial is underway in a Food Warehouse store on Manningham Lane in Bradford and an Iceland store in Salford. Last month we travelled to Asda stores trialling similar technology in Manchester, after thousands of you spoke out online against their use of this invasive technology. We now need to double down on our campaign and send Iceland a clear message. Stay tuned for more campaign actions soon... Thank you for standing with us. Grumpy Grapes
Big Brother Watch appeal. I don't trust them, but whatever. This is an urgent update about my facial recognition legal challenge. I’m bringing a groundbreaking legal challenge to try to stop the mass rollout of live facial recognition surveillance in our country. But a court has just ordered that if I lose, we could have to pay £70,000 to the Metropolitan Police. However, we can’t back down. Because if we do, there is nothing stopping the state from putting live facial recognition cameras all over our towns and cities - digital watchmen constantly watching you and checking your identity. The Orwellian nightmare will become the British reality - we will all be less free. You cannot put a price on freedom. The only way I can continue this legal fight is to raise £70,000 - and I really need your help. Can you donate any amount, large or small, to defend our freedom and say NO to mass facial recognition cameras? If everyone reading this email donated £4 - the price of a coffee - we’d have enough to take this vital challenge forward. If I lose the challenge, we can always appeal. And if we win, your donation will go towards Big Brother Watch’s vital work fighting for freedom in the UK. DONATE TO SUPPORT THE LEGAL CHALLENGE We can't do this without YOU Over the past 18 months, police use of live facial recognition has exploded. Over a million innocent people have had their faces scanned on high streets across the UK. By putting these cameras on our high streets, we're all being treated like suspects in a digital police line-up, with our photos taken for repeated identity checks - often without us even realising it. Since we launched our Crowdfunder, close to 1,000 people have donated and we have been flooded with messages of support. Crowdfunder All of the funds will go directly on our campaign to stop live facial recognition. This is an urgent update about my facial recognition legal challenge. As I understand it, for those who are wrongly stopped, there is nothing in the system to prove that you were wrongly stopped by the system. This is because your image is supposedly deleted, soon after you have proved who you are. You also don't know who you have been accused of being. So, anyone who the cops want to hassle could just get pulled on some non-existent pretext. Is this right? Someone do please correct me, if I am wrong. Some might say 'Oh, but they wouldn't be able to repeatedly get away with that'. I would reply that even once is too much and who knows how much they will be able to take the piss in the future. numnuts
Well, we all know where this is heading. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0l4d3g4p2do 'Cash cards to pay for gluten-free food in UK first.' People in Wales who cannot eat gluten will be given debit-style cards preloaded with money to help pay for their food. The UK-first move, which begins later this year, will be an alternative to the current system where those with conditions such as coeliac disease - which affects about one in 100 people - get food on prescription from the pharmacy. Cherylee Barker, 54, from Narberth, Pembrokeshire, took part in a pilot scheme and got £14 a month, which she said "scratches the surface of the cost". The new card will work like a chip and Pin bank card and be taken in most places that sell gluten-free food, including supermarkets, shops, community pharmacies and online stores, according to the Welsh government. It would not say how much people will be given - just that it will vary by person and be regularly reviewed - or how much would be spent on the scheme.
