I know this sounds absurd but so is the ballers theory that the earth is spinning at such and such, hurtling through space at such and such mph.

I will give you a hint , as I said in the post I was being polite

@peter you see this is where a thread begins to descend as you clearly have no respect for contrary views and have embarked upon a performance of mocking

Your posts have nowt to do with the issue and everything to do with appearing superior and more knowledgeable

If you have something to write, write it, otherwise screw your neck in and be courteous

(sigh) OK I give up. What did you say that I should be thinking about ?

The key is the second half of the statement in which I was being polite and  has nothing to do with this thread

Above:

usaf major Brian Shul flying around in his fighter jet and telling us quite bluntly of seeing Canada from New Mexico!?!?!

That's an SR71, it will do Mac 3.4 max normal operating speed is mac 3.1. it has a ceiling of 85 thousand feet and normally operates at around 79 thousand feet ,Its not a fighter jet, pull the other one its got bells on,higher you get the further you see ,you still obviously haven't realized the implications of that , also didn't you trot that out in the first half of this thread

Here ya go... I'll give you 90,000 feet... hell, take an even hundred thousand... let's give the globe the largest benefit possible, ok?

Please do the math now for yourself.

like zArk said, if you have something to say just say it (plz)

I would have expected this from zArk but I thought you would have spotted a joke when you saw one, a rather blatant one at that but obviously not

Fine... lol

horiz.gif

If we let v=100,000 feet, 0 must equal only 387.9 miles.

What? The math does not lie. If my calculation is off, please inform where and how or just admit that you are wrong.

I have to do this again do I as I said it is a matter of perspective from the observer

Let v equal 1000,000 feet and the observer is o  and at the present time he or she is looking at a point on the earth that has a vector of 90deg  with the radius point h so if the observer looks at h plus 5% -10% etc of V he or she will be able to see a lot further  and don't tell me he or she will be looking off into space because that's not how eyesight works

Also  the diagram is not to scale so as to give the appearance of a smaller therefore tighter circle

O is the distance to the horizon which must be a physical barrier on your sphere... NOT THE OBSERVER LOL!

The bottom line is this:

If Brian Shul was flying at a million feet over the earth, the horizon when looking over a sphere, 25,000 miles in circumference, would be 1239.8 miles. Then... and only then would he be seeing Canada!

I didn't  use o because observer started with it  I used it as a point on the diagram I wanted to keep the explanation simple for you by not introducing an extra letter

also why must it be a physical barrier to the sphere
