I've never discussed it with them. They are very adept at concealing their inner core beliefs. Most could resent the ball model but they won't say in public discourse. Not in my experience anyways. As for the other stuff I have come across conflicting reports about what shortened his last trip. From a Russian diary we are led to believe an alien attack, heavy casualties etc but Byrd's composure betrayed nothing of the sort. He spoke like a man that really discovered a land mass the size of the USA past the south pole past the ice wall you say does not exist. The web is full of Antarctica ice wall pictures and videos.
