What is the 92? The amount of drop is 8" per mile squared. So if the 92 is referring to a distance of 92 miles then the actual calculation is 8" x 92 x 92 = 67,712" and converted to feet then 67,712 / 12 = 5624 feet (that is over 1 mile which is 5280 feet). Quite often the calculation forgets the squared term. Yes, I know that the equation for drop is not quite accurate at longer distances but it is not that too far away from figures given in this calculation.
