I feel conned ,I actually watched the video (second one, I won't be watching a third) on the plus side  I couldn't stop laughing, just like the lasers across the lake bullshit the water is in a bloody container and that ship floating in the air, priceless. I better stop there ,I don't want the post deleted, by telling you what I really think about the video and the fact you actually think it's relevant to  any side of the argument let alone both

PS how's the new band going ,I bet RUN FDC welcomed you with open arms

Yeah well whatever decision is made, some will be unhappy. It's called trying to be transparent and not look like decisions are made without taking into account the people who actually use the thread.

I'd have thought keeping the thread unmoderated, and everyone able to discuss what they want to among fellow members, would be preferable to having the public discussion constantly monitored and edited.

I thought it was in the members only section already ,goes to show you how much I know

Ain't much we know, (couldn't resist this one) only kidding :classic_biggrin: Yeah we've been moved to the bottom of the class again. 😅

It's fine we have a type of banter going ,and personally if you believe in god that's fine by me you certainly aren't exclusive in that respect ,but a little more evidence for a flat earth would be great🙃

Did you enjoy where I gave you one of the clever man's dots? He acknowledges that we live on a planet - for some reason you didn't respond to that bit.

Never saw your post about this, please direct me to it, never mind folk can't get it right all of the time, it was a three hour long video.

You just quoted the post it was in and it was nothing to do with the video - shows how much attention you actually pay. Your "clever" man says we live on a planet.

I find it quite ironic that the very thing he talks about is something that you and one other poster systematically defend, with no attempt at all to assimilate all information, just believing anything that you can fudge to support your archaic and daft belief. The Earth is a planet and this thread subject is part of the problem.

Poor creator. Those who know the least fabricate their own truths. Everything sounds wonderful and one takes over illusions from the others. Empty words create the same patterns. And if you hear these lies over and over again, you will eventually believe them, because others say the same thing. And for that Humans pay with paper money which is not real. All selling their truth. Which, on the other hand, will have no meaning when the body shuts down.

Yep, maybe so, but he does say 'Disc' several times. I supposed you missed this ????????

If he said it during his video, yes I would have missed that as I have no interest in his theories.  I'm reasonably sure that you never watch any posted videos by anti-flat-earthers. I could show you a series of 5 videos that completely tear your claim to pieces - but you won't watch them will you?

That is for any fence sitters.

Yes I will watch them @ times, when I need a good laugh & a reminder of how stupid I was to ever believe in a spinning ball.

I've been thinking about this on and off since you raised the question a good while back, and I think there is another factor involved coupled with atmospheric conditions that obviously play a part, and that is it is the way this calculation is applied to this argument.

In your calculation which by the way I have no reason to doubt the accuracy, you say there I height drop of 1.2 km, meaning if you take point A as the highest point of the circle ( 90deg to the horizontal plane ) and describe an arc around the circumference for 443 km to point B the total difference in vertical height will be 1.2 km given the circle (earth) has a radius of 6371km.

The problem I see with this equation is it is only ever applied in one direction with regards to the FE argument and therefore is a very cleaver slight of hand in my opinion, in reality though we are actually dealing with line of sight and it should be applied in both directions, meaning if you can see an object from a distance in this case of 443 km  when you factor in the respective heights of both the observer and object across the described arc of a circle you would have a mid point  (horizon) of  221.5km therefore the effective drop would only be 600mts from  the line of sight in each direction given all other parameters remain the same. If you couple that with somewhat abnormal atmospheric conditions I don't think that the picture is impossible by any stretch of the imagination

Thanks for your input. I do think that atmopsheric conditions could potentially explain some of these long-distance photographs, but others perhaps not. Below is a short article I wrote that used a different equation (a better equation) and calculated some maximum line of sight distances assuming the Earth were a sphere.

Well I looked, in your original post to me we have have the longest photo ever taken at 443km which is verified from the photographer's own words. I would just like to know where you got all the other  facts and figures from, in the heading you quote Eric Dubay and there is a pic of supposedly Mt Everest from over 900 km away therefore this must be the longest photo ever taken so you have in effect contradicted yourself at the very beginning, I'm sorry but as soon as you mention Dubay it has the same effect on me as zarks eloquent scientific acumen, however I will agree with you that the photo taken by Vollmer is interesting but in my  opinion explainable when the math is applied correctly in both directions
