Admiral Byrd explores deeper and suddenly...shows over...forget Antarctica! Must have been one hell of a compelling argument to get all those wolves to stand down. Penguins ? yeah, they sure love those little buggers. Used to burn their lamps with penguin oil. Is this what he saw :

Some schools run GCSE Astronomy courses but not at a higher level.

In the UK the Open University do a  certificate course in Astronomy and Planetary sciences (S10)

http://www.openuniversity.edu/courses/qualifications/s10#course-details

Where the emphasis is on developing skills of reason and logic that are highly prized in the workplace.

Failing that there are many societies and clubs with enthusiasts willing to share their hobby and failing that one can buy a telescope good enough to make planetary obsevations and literally follow in the footsteps of the ancient and historical astromers. Anyone who really  think the Earth is flat and the centre of the Universe can look forward to the real joy of discovery..

I must commend you again for the job you've done here; the sheer amount of posts that the truest believers of spinning balls have simply ignored is impressive. I wanted to just comment on this post here as it touches directly on the OP.

For ANYONE who does not understand the implications of the above meme, please just ask. I mean it. This is extremely important if you are honestly here, looking for truth.

Mr flat , I see you are using the same slight of hand with a different meme, this was explained in my rebuttable to your mathematical interpretation and use of good old Pythagoras  with regards to your nonexistent bulge in the lake.

I know I said I was finished with this thread , but you have been banging on about  how Polaris is in the same position even when we are  are on the other side of the sun and the stars are the same as more undisputed evidence that the earth is flat, well sorry it doesn't take a mental giant to explain that one, and has nothing to do with the earth being flat.

Not with standing the 26,000 year progression cycle which you totally dismiss and the fact that it takes 72 years( a life time ) for the stars to shift 1% and as such it would take some extremely accurate observations over one life time to detect any movement at all and therefore it would take the average Joe in the street a great many lifetimes to detect any movement  by looking up into the night sky  ( right here there is an inkling as to why the stars are the same on the other side of the sun) ,once again your simple evidence dose not take into account observational perspective

The earth is approx 93 million miles from memory to the sun (its been a bloody long time since I was at school) so when you observe a  star,   take Polaris, it doesn't matter which, then 6 months later make another observation and things will look exactly the same, why ? bloody simple.

Now you are 186,000,000 million miles  from your previous position, since you are looking at stars that are tens even hundreds of light years away the distance traveled is so minuscule, percentage wise to the distance of the observable object the is no perception of movement on the observer's behalf and therefore everything looks exactly the same.

Just a side note light travels at 186,000 miles per second squared and earths  orbital diameter is 186,000,000 miles,I never realized that before , I find that interesting

Quite so and the thing to repeat here is that the ancient Greeks knew about the shape of the Earth and the heliocentric system bases on simple (repeatable) observations and the use of maths (trigonometry) and of the knowledge of parallax which they used in making Earthbound measurements and which they realised in the case of stellar parallax was not observable by the naked eye.

The Gaia telescope is the pinnacle of human technology as regards measuring distance to other stars and is accurate enough to calculate stellar movement and with the data handling capacities of a huge computing suite behind it run by hundreds of technicians can plot billions of objects with individual velocities and directions and on top of that can run the 3d plot forwards and backwars in time.

PS before anybody pipes up and calls me out for comparing apples and oranges , speed and distance. What I find interesting is the first 6 digits are exactly the same and the speed of light is 3 orders of magnitude less with regards to numerical sequence than the diameter of earth's orbit,   one would have to wonder if there is some form of correlation between the two

Einstein to the Rescue?

The beloved Jewish scientist who lied about his knowledge of the Michelson/Morely experiment.

Read it and weep.

https://isitreallyflat.com/fe/books/the-greatest-lie-on-earth-proof-that-our-world-is-not-a-moving-globe-by-edward-hendrie/

Einstein

"When Einstein first introduced his theory of relativity to the world, he often used the analogy of a wagon rolling along the street as an illustration. “What we mean by relative motion,” he stated in a Princeton University lecture, “in a general sense is perfectly plain to everyone. If we think of a wagon moving along a street we know that it is possible to speak of the wagon at rest, and the street in motion, just as well as it is to speak of the wagon in motion and the street at rest. That, however, is a very special part of the ideas involved in the principle of Relativity.”

It's bollocks.

Nothing like a man that knows how to manage make-believe to become NASA's first boss. T. Keith Glennan was associated with Paramount and Samuel Goldwyn studios in Hollywood.

In good company with Disney and Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick. They came together with NASA and it wasn't to trade pumpkin pie recipes.

Welcome to flat earth, friend!

The ENTIRE rest of your post was irrelevant. I'm not even discussing the freemasons' imaginary procession idiocy. We are asking one simple question:

Explain for us how we can see Polaris at both solstices.

To answer this question, you must keep in mind that a) we MUST BE on the opposite side of the sun, and b) to view our night sky, we MUST BE LOOKING IN THE COMPLETELY OPPOSITE DIRECTION!

FOR CLARITY: Distance does not matter if you are looking the wrong way. There could be a jillion foot high gorilla right behind you and unless you turned around, you would never see this monster.

Right?    wrong

Brilliant diagram of the earth and sun , but once again you have confused two dimensional representation with 3d reality, actually that diagram explains what I said rather well. look at the position of the north pole on each earth , which someone has marked in red ,they are all facing the same way. now imagine where Polaris is and draw a connecting line from each north pole. that should point you in the right direction .

However if you still cant get it , rotate the diagram 90 deg so the top earth moves away from you,   what you would be looking at is 3 earths in a row  and now you have the north pole 23.5 deg from the vertical plane and not the horizontal as in your diagram. Now draw an imaginary line from the 3 observable earths north pole to the vanishing point known as Polaris. This diagram also dose not take into account the seasons as you would have night for months on end up in the arctic so the representation of night and day in the diagram is fundamentally inaccurate

FOR CLARITY: Distance does not matter if you are looking the wrong way. There could be a jillion foot high gorilla right behind you and unless you turned around, you would never see this monster.

Obviously in your reality all observers are not allowed to move , maybe be they are all stuck to the same position with gorilla glue

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but you clearly do not understand the problem.

I guess you googled it and learned your assumption was incorrect, fair?

Look, our schools suck... bottom line. This is no attack on you. Many believe these same things because of how badly our schools suck. Then, like you, they go through life parroting these incorrect assumptions while feeling superior and knowledgeable. This must change.

WTH are you talking about?  What I found is what I already knew, that cyclones spin in opposing directions in each hemisphere.  You still have not explained how this is the case if the Earth is flat.  Basic math explains why it's that way on a sphere.  What kind of math is going to make it work for a flat disk?

So again, how is Polaris there the next day, let alone summer, fall, winter, spring and year after decade after century after millennium?

For right now though, just explain for us how we can see her at both solstices.

Thanks

because we're all moving relative to each other with the movement of the galaxy.  We don't wake up the next day and the earth has moved to one place in the galaxy and Polaris to some other new place.  In your example, if Polaris should not be there the next day, then it should not be there the next day if the earth is flat either.

He explained it perfectly.  Much better than I did.  The reason you can see Polaris every night is actually BECAUSE the Earth is a sphere.  Like peter said, your argument only holds up if looking at a 2d picture.  In 3d, and turning the ecliptic on its side, because the Earth is a sphere, you can obviously see Polaris all year.  I can grok on that image where North Carolina is and clearly see how Polaris is visible every night from there, regardless of the season.

Your last ridiculous contention that water spins in toilets in opposite directions based on their location on earth.

This is simply not true... like your toilet delusion. You really could be using google to research this yourself.

Storms have been observed to spin both ways , both north, and also south of the equator.

As much as Id like to be nice and gentle with flat earth theory there does reach a point very early on where I just want to say what a useless bunch of cretins you all are

You are promoting a Hebrew interpretation of the Cosmos which will.place JERUSALEM dead center of the Universe on both maps AND inside peoples heads

You absolute wankers

But of course it does! That's the point! Literally, lol, Polaris is point in the sky, it is fixed perfectly over what you call the north pole and we know as the center of our plane. All the other stars make perfect circles around her!

And that is the sky we have seen since we first looked up, friend.

Nobody promotes that unless they're idiots or paid shills!

Legitimate flat Earth researchers learned that we live in a relatively, small local system and not one of them have provided evidence of any "zero-g" infinite vacuum of space "universe."

LOL, man

NO! You don't get any of this. My entire model was first bssed on reading several books written by the Zetetics between 1860 and 1920. Then, I went out and got this pretty incredible Nikon camera and spent a summer camping on both oceans, the gulf, and lakes all across America.

After watching hundreds of ships that I previously believed had sailed over a geometric horizon, come back right in front of my eyes because of this incredible zoom ability of my Nikon p1000, I was left with no other choice. There was simply no way that I could be living on a ball, 25,000 miles in circumference.

What made it even worse was the fact that many times the visible horizon was still miles beyond these ships, far off in the distance. Just impossible in your world.
