Coronavirus Mega-Thread.

Message added by Grumpy Owl,

This topic is for all general discussion regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are of course numerous other related topics for discussing specific aspects of this pandemic in more detail. And there are other parts of this forum for more 'off-topic' discussions.

I have a Scottish 'mate' who posted on his Facistbook account the word..........Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom followed by a photo of his jab pass/card he owned.

What an insult to the word. If there is an ounce of truth in the William Wallace story then he must be turning in his grave.

Why didn't he ask himself why his freedom was taken away so easily and so quickly in the first place, and why he needed an injection and a card to get it back.

Actually his freedom wasn't taken away, he gave it away. "Mooooorrrooooooon!"

I'm in that neck of the woods. I've just gone on the link to find the Lancashire Evening Post have now removed that article. What a shock! (Sarcasm, in case anyone was wondering). I am going to delve further into this.

It's been scrubbed, but one of the headings left visible shows the councillor's name as Pav Akhtar so it's definitely him.

Have rung the LEP office but they are closed now. They need to explain why they are pulling items that it is their duty to report on.

P.S.

I suggest reading down the thread of that tweet.  It shows us how this is going to be spun.  "Oh, tough time, but thems the breaks, and glad I had the vaccine"....."I would have it again tomorrow if it means protecting vulnerable people"....blah, blah, blah...

I don't wish to be pessimistic, but I suspect this is a battle we can't win.

Thanks for the link.  I notice he works for the NHS.  I wonder if one of the unintended consequences of all this is that NHS hubs and workers have become loci for the virus?  It could also be that as an NHS worker, he was already infected without knowing and, instead of immunising him, the vaccine has stimulated the virus due to its effect on T-cells, etc.

Have you noticed? When you mention about vaccines elsewhere it gets deleted. Minions are everywhere.

India has started a massive drive to inject the population. No doubt, you will start to hear cases in the news.

We have to wait and see for effect and to protect ourselves. Having said that we probably don't have to wait too long because effect can take place as quickly as 2 days.

You know what pro-vaxxers would say? Out of millions, that have been injected, only a handful are damaged or dead in comparison. It is expected and pigs will fly tomorrow. lol

And you can easily turn that on it's head and reply, "Out of millions that have 'covid', only a handful are damaged or dead in comparison.  It is expected."  :)

I am so done with this lockdown.

Just had a guy cleaning my gutters and i asked him if the believes in lockdown and he said he is not a conspiracy theorist. haha such a programmed response. He said he knows a few people that have had the virus.

This one guy at work says he got it and so did his whole family. His wife picked it up from a neighbour on a walk. Anyone else know anyone that is claiming to have had it?

Having mass vaccinations in a religious setting, such as Christian place of worship, is to give a reassurance and to use community peer pressure to increase uptake.

also symbolic as the changing of ages sees the changing of religion, the transhuman religion will be seen as starting with this injectable

It is. Almost no words to that other than it’s representative of their  Covid-19 religion with words like Hallelujah and being apart of something greater thrown in. A new religion where being oppressed is about being apart of something greater.  I never considered this could be making some (ordinary) people happy but listening to his lyrics I think it is.

From the article:

"I didn't have an underlying health condition that was expected to trigger a reaction," said Coun Akhtar.

"But the flu-like snuffles and muscle ache kicked in, followed by a horrendous fever. When I closed my eyes to lay down I felt like the top of my scalp was melting and sliding down my face. It was horrible.

"I was really struggling with my breathing, I was so short of breath. So we called the ambulance and I was taken straight to A&E.

"My fever remained and the temperature shot up to 40°c. It was this combination of symptoms that made the A&E team suspect that I might have Covid-19 or a reaction to the vaccine.

"That was the scariest bit, when they said that they suspected I might have Covid and put me into isolation."

That's what I've been saying. The adverse reactions are causing extra pressure on the NHS which is then being blamed on covid and used to scare people into accepting more and more intrusions on their civil liberties.

I wish people would wake up.

Switzerland to Hold Referendum on Covid-19 Lockdown

The vote, which could be held as soon as June, tests government’s legal powers and is latest example of Switzerland’s direct democracy

.... the country is set for a referendum on whether to remove the government’s legal authority to order lockdowns and other pandemic restrictions after campaigners submitted a petition of some 86,000 signatures this week—higher than the 50,000 required—triggering a nationwide vote to repeal last year’s Covid-19 Act.

The ballot could come as soon as June, and it appears set to mirror disputes in the U.S. and elsewhere over how far governments should go to limit social interactions in a pandemic—or whether to lock down at all.

The problem is, if we had that in the UK, it would take over 5 years to even implement it if we voted to end lockdowns 🙄

Yes. A few people where I work.

The lady who does the cleaning (and hence goes round all the departments' offices , factories, toilets & kitchens) was off with it. It was like flu, she reckoned - which is exactly what I've believed for a long time that it actually is.

She has always been prone to colds and sinus issues as long as I've known her.

Then a Production Director, Mark, was whining of feeling ill a while back, lots of people told him to get tested for Covid, and for a week, he kept dragging himself in while looking poorly, saying pitifully that it was 'just man flue'.

Then he finally got tested and it was positive so went off for a bit.

In the meantime, another department head, Ian, who had sat next to Mark in various meetings went off sick with it at the same time. (Both around my age of 57 if that has any relevance).

Mark still complains, weeks later, of feeling worn out ever since he had it.

Ian said he wasn't too bad, but his wife caught it and was very ill. She also was diagnosed with pneumonia.

There has been a trickle of people going off who I don't know well that work in the factories.

At present there is one person from the office above mine who is off with it. It's a few weeks since he was last off self-isolating because his wife had it. The chap who sits next to him went for a test the day after his departure because he reckoned he had symptoms, but it came back negative.

There are 2 people I know of from one of the other offices (just a couple of hundred feet away from mine) who are off with it.

Another of our directors was off a couple of months back because his wife and little girl tested positive. But his wife's only symptom was that food didn't taste right (like when you have a bad cold) and his daughter had no symptoms at all.

The personnel woman has started insisting that anyone going absent with it needs to scan their test result in, suggesting the suspicion of folk swinging the lead and just using Covid as an excuse, which wouldn't surprise me.
