Coronavirus Mega-Thread.

Message added by Grumpy Owl,

This topic is for all general discussion regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are of course numerous other related topics for discussing specific aspects of this pandemic in more detail. And there are other parts of this forum for more 'off-topic' discussions.

'Smeagol's less nice cuz' banter aside, to me Whitty seems to be slowly morphing into Mer-Man from Eternia. About time they did another movie reboot as well.

I don't think there are many folks around, who don't think that the U.K. population is now at least 75 million. This would equate to only 8,054 deaths per million in 2020. We all know that the great, 'unaccounted' influx occurred well after 1993 as well.

On a more humorous note, Priti Patel just got the Covid rules wrong yet again and I think most folks do know this one. She couldn't accept it though and later tried to make out that she really meant to say 'socialise'; not 'exercise'. Yeah, right.

True dat.

Definitely makes you laugh at the BBC's highest deaths since the war, they pulled out their butts.

Im waiting for the US mortality rate stats compared with previous years too, should be interesting.

Found this website where you can search old newspapers in the UK. Being interested in the year 1993 to see what sort of articles they had on the topic of flu or vaccines. Search for yourself. Some interesting articles there. Beijing flu and yuppie flu is mentioned and "running out of vaccines". Same old lies but guess what? No mention of any kind of lockdown.

Quote

Lack of sleep a cause of yuppie 'flu THE chronic fatigue syndrome known as Yuppie Flu may be caused by sleep disorders which make sufferers constantly tired, according to a study published in the British Medical Journal yesterday.

I think you may have made a similar mistake to the one I made with numbers. The deaths you quote are England and Wales whilst the population figure (UK) you give includes Scotland and Ireland

However the ratio idea still works but with different numbers.

Briefly:

year        deaths         population           Rate/1000        ASMR

                                      (x 1000)

2020       608,002        59,829                  1016.2             1043.5

1993        578,521        50,986                  1134.7             1453.4

ASMR - standardised to the 2013 European Standard Population, expressed per 100,000 population: allows comparisons with different age structures, males and females over time.

Data from ONS (Office for National Statistics)

Apologies I have quoted wrong person - I am referring to oddsnsods table

Your death figures do not quite match those I quote - I hope your 604,045 is correct rather than the fig I give as 608,002

And I have 1993 deaths as 578,521

Yes, the point made is not diluted much, when also accounting for Scotland and Northern Ireland, if you are indeed correct. This is why I was saying, only last month, that we all need to try and be as careful as possible during these Covid days. However, no matter how careful we are, there will always be some PTB idiot about, who tries making out that we said everyone who takes the vaccine would die on the spot or soon after. Ha ha. 😀

Im going to leave you with this, any late night posters wish to ponder on.

If there is a virus, I dont get how this happened world wide including countries without lockdown or so called covid epidemic.

But in countries like Britain, we definitely had some kind of epidemic, even if they did send the granny off to die.

Australia the same Richie Allen points out.

if im not counting sheep im counting death stats. Pretty morbid existence.🤭

"CDC estimates that influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010." https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html

Where was their bloody lockdown when all these people where dying of the flu every year? Not a freakin whisper.

Who's killed the Birdie ?

Anyone here superstitious ?

Cawww blimey! Is this the sign we're all doomed? The Tower of London has lost its star bird - and legend has it we're heading for catastrophe. No wonder the Ravenmaster is in a bit of a flap

It is illegal to test anyone without their consent. People just have to say No.

Also the reason why the medical regulator refused to back Boris' 'mass testing' regime of the kids.

Regulator refuses to approve mass daily Covid testing at English schools

Exclusive: Boris Johnson’s plan to test millions of pupils a week in disarray after concerns raised

Sources said the regulator made clear that it had not given the green light to the daily use of these tests on pupils who would otherwise have to self-isolate.

Prof Jon Deeks, a biostatistician of the University of Birmingham and Royal Statistical Society, described the use of rapid tests in this context as “ridiculous and dangerous” and welcomed the MHRA’s stance.

“This clarification of the unsuitability of lateral flow tests for saying people are not infected with SARS-CoV-2 from the MHRA demonstrates that they are taking their responsibility seriously to ensure that tests are used in a safe way.

“The government needs to take greater care in ensuring they evaluate the potential harms as well as the benefit of all their mass testing proposals.”

We’ve had our own bird-gate story here.... they named it after crazy Joe and apparently wanted to euthanise it (hint, hint ) cos it’s probably full of US Covid....lol
