Singapore Airlines launches ‘Covid-19 passport,’ describing digital health ID as part of the ‘new normal’

Singapore Airlines has become the first major carrier to introduce a digital certificate used to verify a passenger’s Covid-19 test results and vaccination status, in what the company described as the new normal for travel.

It announced on Wednesday that it had started the world’s first trials of a “health verification process” developed by a major airline lobby, the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The app, known as Travel Pass, is being used on flights operated by Singapore Airlines from Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. The company said that it could extend the program to other cities if the trials are successful. It also plans to integrate the certificate into its SingaporeAir mobile app in the coming months.

Passengers traveling the selected routes will need to take their Covid-19 tests at designated clinics in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, where they can be issued either a digital or paper health certificate with a QR code, the airline explained in a press release. The documents will be checked by both airport check-in staff and Singapore’s immigration authority.

The airline said that Covid-19 tests and vaccinations will be “an integral part” of air travel going forward and that the certificates were an ideal way to “validate a passenger’s health credentials.” The company hailed the new ID as a way to use digital technologies to create a “more seamless experience” for customers amid “the new normal.”

Margaret Tan, aviation security official from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), applauded the rollout and expressed hope that “other countries and airlines” would adopt a similar scheme in order to ensure passengers have “necessary health credentials to protect public health.”

The IATA announced last month that it was working on Travel Pass in a bid to re-open international travel. Several airlines have already eyed the technology, including Qantas Airways, which said it plans to make proof of Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for all international passengers traveling to and from Australia. The company’s CEO, Alan Joyce, also speculated that digital health passports would become a requirement worldwide.

However, there have been warnings from within the industry that making proof of vaccination mandatory could be disastrous for the already suffering travel sector. Gloria Guevara, leader of the World Travel and Tourism Council, recently argued that only a negative test result should be required to fly, as vaccines are not yet widely available and high-risk groups that receive the jab are less likely to travel.

With all the talk of the new, more infectious variant of C19 (VUI2020-12/01), I am starting to wonder if this has been an “unintended consequence” (or intended consequence)  of lockdown.

Natural  Selection dictates that to survive lockdowns, a virus would have to become more infectious and guess what has happened!

Similarly other variants will be developing affinities to masks and supermarkets.

So clearly the only way to stop the mild virus is either a total 100% lockdown for a longtime, not even allowing people get food (they might go for that), or we just open up completely, end lockdown  and let an even more mild strain evolve.

The big concern with lockdowns is if it led the virus to develop capabilities like the ant fungus called Ophiocordyceps https://canoe.com/news/weird/researchers-discover-fungus-causes-zombie-ants-that-explode

.....basically turns the victim into a zombie, that then climbs to high point, where it head then explodes releasing infectious spores over a wide area. Now that would be infectious!

There is no virus.

Wake up.

Edit: Just noticed the jab and go advert has already been posted.

Thanks for posting the Ryanair advert video, which has not been posted until you did.

Does Ryanair really think it can save its business by bending over backwards for the COVID cult, like the hospitality industry, which invested a great deal of time & money for COVID secure arrangements, and then have the carpet pulled away from under their feet with new overnight rules?

Book now for Summer 2021!   What for a fun and relaxing holiday, after being jabbed with god knows what, to tour the economic devastation of COVID compliant countries, in a bubble of continuing COVID secureness, if one is not already penniless due to the lockdowns.

A variety of the red-top newspapers have been spouting lines about the 'new mutant strain' particularly targeting children.  Setting it all up for a new spike of infections leading to national lockdown again.

Tiresome and predictable.

Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, will receive the Sputnik V vaccine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a Russian state TV channel on Sunday, Reuters reports.

“He said he will be vaccinated, he made this decision and was waiting until all formalities are completed,” the spokesman was quoted as saying to the Rossiya 1 TV channel on its website.

Russia launched a voluntary vaccination programme with the Russia-made Sputnik V vaccine earlier in December, starting with the most vulnerable groups in Moscow.

People over the age of 60 may begin to apply for shots on Monday, the Moscow mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said on his website on Sunday, the day after the Russian health ministry said the vaccine was approved for use by elderly people after a separate trial.

Putin, who is 68, said earlier that the Russian vaccine was effective and safe and he saw no reason not to be vaccinated, adding that he was waiting until it became available.

Plans have been drawn up to roll out the Oxford coronavirus vaccine across the UK on 4 January, according to the Sunday Telegraph.

The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to be approved by regulators this week. Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, which is already being deployed, it can be stored in standard fridges.

The Sunday Telegraph also reported that mass vaccination centres at sports stadiums and conference venues are primed to launch in the second week of January.

I'm 71 so I'm guaranteed an invite.

I wonder what happens when I don't turn up.

Reverse Engineering the source code of the BioNTech/Pfizer SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine

Terrifying and altogether experimental seemingly.

A couple of things;

1) If the virus has not been isolated, how can they create an immune response to the ‘SARS Cov-2’ protein?

2) How can anyone be certain of the long term effects of this vaccine if a) mRNA vaccines have NEVER been used in humans before and b) there are NO long term studies done.

"These public figures are showing us that the vaccine is both safe and effective."

Remember the days when it used to be proper scientific trials that showed you if something is safe and effective? Now you just need some celebrities to tell you.

Intelligentsia are the creative, artistic and academic section of the community. Part of society. Under Stalinism, the intelligentsia were reduced and ostracized. Workers were prioritised. In this country the intelligentsia are hugely reduced so we no longer see many protesting, anti-authoritarian students. Covid relies upon a busy, money burdened working class with no time to think. Looking at Vietnam there were lots of united social opposition groups. Ex armed forces, students and even celebrities like Muhammad Ali. Today opposition must come from liberals and working classes. Intelligentsia still abound but grow less.

It just sounds funny when one group think they’re really intelligent. I like collective intelligence where everyone in the room has something to offer and learn from. That you can either agree with or dismiss.  On a funny note when these face masks came in I wonder how many thought they were surgeons as they were walking around like one!  Do you think they could have thought themselves a bit more intelligent walking around like that?!

Anyone know anything concrete at the moment. Found one tenuous article. Expecting last minute fuckery as usual.
