Bollocks. Even the govt own figures and Wikipedia show that it's not true. What is strange is that , after WWII, every other year was a bad year - something dodgy about reporting, maybe? I also wonder what effect evacuation and getting fresh air in the country did for childhood diseases, plus better diet from rationing.
