Any ideas? No ideas as I’ve never used one, I only drink bottled water (which is probably just as bad as tap). Tap water tastes like a rotten swimming pool. When the power goes out, a good homemade DIY option is a multi stage drip filter, using plastic bottles, sand, charcoal and zeolite. Sharp sand from builders merchant, charcoal you make yourself, zeolite from aquatics suppliers. Coffee filters, muslin and jay cloths will help too. And back it up with some water purification tabs from survivalist companies, quite cheap and effective. Is there a cheaper effective option. I'm using reverse osmosis at the moment but if they shut off the utilities then i won't have the water pressure to make the system work.
