I was discussing this with someone recently and they mentioned how movies, music, and the culture in general used to be more geared to spirituality, but now that sort of thing is lacking. Could this be because there are actual demons among us that have taken control of their human hosts? Admittedly a far-out there possibility, but one that I find interesting to ruminate on. If you read ancient literature (Iliad etc.) all the way through to the last few hundred years this point is very evident. If you did a bad deed then the rules of karma kicked in. You would be punished. Enter scientific materialism. If you get away with it in this life then you're home free. Even better if you can merge your consciousness with a machine ... I used to watch a lot, a real lot of films. Pretty much anything. Then I realised that the amount of miserable negative crap I was watching was too much. Horror films then realised why would I want to be scared of anything. Miserable, depressin and bleak films about people with crappy lives when there’s enough of that in the real life. Inlearnt from my lady auntie Lela, the most tranquil soul I have ever encountered, that if it’s not effecting you physically or emotionally dismiss the annoyance out of hand. If it does effect you physically or emotionally, find the root cause and do your best to resolve it. Might mean changing who you socialise with, what you eat, where you go or anynumber of a myriad of causes but ultimately a relaxed and healthy soul is the only thing to strive for. i know I’m waffling but had the great fortune to meat this lady who changed my outlook on life so much. She is the sort of person who should be guiding us in my opinion.
