Message added by Grumpy Owl,

This topic is for all general discussion regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are of course numerous other related topics for discussing specific aspects of this pandemic in more detail. And there are other parts of this forum for more 'off-topic' discussions.

I just see it as a general symbol of resistance to tyranny, not associated with a particular group of movement. Plus it pisses off the facial recognition scanners, etc.

Well anyone can wear it, but it was shortly after Guido did his plot that the money lenders were allowed back into our country, his name also has some interesting origins. A lot of the Anonymous folks (not anons) are a bunch of Middle Eastern hackers too. Then there is also the subversive movie with its BS inversions.

People should be asking why that mask has been popularized as the acceptable face of the resistance to tyranny.

I'm a simple man. I just thought the movie was awesome 😆 Didn't know all this other stuff.

So sending your kids to school with a packed lunch won't help then. This is so intrusive. Young kids being taught to comply with the big brother system in order to get a meal. It needs to burn.

Feel so sorry for the upcoming Generation of kids, they will never enjoy the kind of freedoms we had when we were young.

(or at least thought we had)

The Wachowskis messed up the transfer of the graphic novel's plot to silver screen. In the graphic novel V was more of an anti-hero, and the story had a whole lot to do with individuals themselves taking action against the dictatorial regiment, an aspect which was mostly lacking from the movie. It was entertaining to watch though.

The movie is right about the dystopian element, just BS when it says we're run by far-right Christian nationalists, but I'm not sure what people expect when Portman is the lead actress. That's movies for you though.

Never read the novels, I should really find some epubs or pdfs of them to see what they're saying.

Do they give smartphones? How it works for homeless? Or there are no homeless in Australia?

Like the vax, it will eventually be mandatory to have one. They'll end up giving them out if people resist.

What's he doing now?  I used to like him in Blackadder and Jeeves & Wooster.

I still like Blackadder, but he's often pushing woke crap, or stuff that's bad for British people.

He probably thinks he is some revolutionary like in V For Zion.

I used to like QI, but then I looked into his wikipedia Early Life section and I get the impression that he is marketed as the "smart man" that is supposed to talk down to normal Anglos.

Reminds me of Beckham, I used to wonder why he gets all the praise and why he is called Golden Balls, then I looked into his background.
