This topic is for all general discussion regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are of course numerous other related topics for discussing specific aspects of this pandemic in more detail. And there are other parts of this forum for more 'off-topic' discussions.

Here is a new measure that has just been announced:

Covid: Pubs and restaurants in England to have 10pm closing times

Even the BBC immediately notes:

People are understandably asking what difference closing at 22:00 makes.

Yes, because it's going to make fuck all difference, apart from being an onerous and unnecessary imposition on people's lives and liberty.

A group of proper experts - including Professor Sunetra Gupta, Professor Carl Heneghan and Professor Sucharit Bhakdi - have today submitted an open letter to Boris Johnson, Chris Whitty and Patrick Valance et al setting out concerns about current policy and asking for reconsideration of the path forward. The letter has 4 authors and 28 signatories.

Is that the best quality you can find of the letter?  Can hardly read it.

The government's have been ignoring the facts and evidence from the start, instead relying on a select few "experts" who all have links to the vaccine industry. This is clear corruption and an absolute scandal.

I have had enough of this bollocks and I am fuming.

As the government continues to roll out arbritray restrictions to our liberties, daily, to help the NHS, flatten the curve, ease the peak, protect granny, prevent cases, save lives, yada yada., still the infection rate keeps rising, according to Tweedledum and Tweedledee the “science” advisors.

Therefore, if social-distancing isn't working, or masks, or house-arrest and a blanket ban on all social activity, what difference is a 10:00 pm curfew going to make? Well, it's going to give the police the opportunity to “crack down hard” and flex their brand new powers of control. Taser's ready!

But its all the fault of the young ones having irresponsible house parties don't you know. How dare they not want to spend their youth in splendid self-isolation lest they contract asymptomatic Rona and instantly kill all their grannies.

Nice. At least it's not C:V on the mug EW. Just a bit of code. Still a bit odd with the 'nasty cold'... Surely it is modelled on Gates.. Maybe it's South Park Gates..

Lockdown for 6 months, new measures introduced

The Leader of the 'opposition' offered no opposition to the Government's mandate, but fully endorsed it. Starmer's only gripe is, the way it's been handled and the lack of test and tracing. SNP Ian Blackford, simply reiterated the “deady virus” mantra.

Johnson says the measures "will only work if people comply" and points to those "brazenly" breaking the rules. As a result, the PM confirms they will be enforced with tighter penalties. He says this is "in no way a return to the lockdown" from March. It's worse.

"If all these actions fail we reserve the right to use greater fire power with significantly greater restrictions," he said, “but we will only be able to avoid it if our new measures work and our behaviour changes.” What more can they do besides a total lockdown?

Johnson says the new rules on table service will mean fines if it is broken. He then announced there will be new places where face coverings will be required. Staff in the hospitality and retail sectors will now need to wear them, as well as passengers travelling in taxis.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the further restrictions that vile little ugly scumbag Wee Jimmy Krankie will impose in Scotland will be that everything closes down and people have to stay indoors 24/7. Those draconian rules  are the sort of things the wee bitch and SNP love to impose on the Scottish people.

Boris looks like a shell of a man. The economic question finally at least being brought up by the opposition.

Id say his days are numbered, he's being fed to the wolves. I don't think it really matters who's leading this lockdown push, the people behind it will make sure whoever replaces him is fully behind it and the narrative will be that Boris was too lax and caused a second wave by not locking down fully.

Agreed.

I just sent this to my local MSP, just to embarrass her.

I understand that as a political representative, you are following the Government's arbitrary Covid mandate implicitly and without question, but can you explain the logic behind preventing people from socialising at home, with people whom they mingle with during the day in the office, classroom, supermarket and various venues? What is it about the home that makes it more susceptible to infecting others than the pub? Also, what is the scientific basis for a 10:00pm curfew, as decreed by Boris Johnson, for people who have interacted all day prior to this time? Why is the “deadly virus” more contagious at night? I would appreciate it if you could clarify the rationale behind these contradictory measures.

Did you not hear Boris say, after 10 people have drunk a bit too much and get closer together?

False-positive PCR results linked to administration of seasonal influenza vaccine

T Curran et al. J Med Microbiol. 2012 Mar.

Quote "detection studies demonstrated vaccine RNA still detectable for at least 66 days. Administration of influenza vaccines and clinical sampling in the same room resulted in the contamination with vaccine strains of surveillance swabs collected from patients with ILI. Vaccine contamination should therefore be considered, particularly where multiple influenza virus RNA PCR positive signals (e.g. H1N1, H3N2 and influenza B) are detected in the same specimen".

All the way back in 2012 eh, 😂

Face coverings will be mandatory for retail staff and customers moving around indoor hospitality venues in England from Monday, the Government has announced.

Mr Johnson said: “We will extend the requirement to wear face coverings to include staff in retail.

I started a retail job yesterday,  I won't/can't wear a mask because of sinus problems. Face shield I just won't wear either.

I will refuse again when they ask me.

Going to be a short job...

I feel for you and sorry to hear that you're being put in this situation which may cost you your job. I've had it with these bastards, when are people going to get past the BS and see the lies that are being perpetuated right in front of us. How much more are people going to take? How much more proof do they need? Sorry folks but the BBC, sky et al aren't going to be telling you even a modicum of truth, so better start getting a grip now before this shit really starts to take hold.

Damn, it's so hard not being frustrated, isolated and angry at the minute. They're really doing a number on us.

Being screwed over again with ridiculous rules.

It seems to me that  people will take an unlimited amount of orders. there is no limit & perhaps they even secretly enjoy it?

I see they are worried about the lock down protests in Australia:

‘Dan Andrews’ Stasi’: Victoria premier under fire for proposed law that would allow govt officials to arbitrarily arrest citizens

22 Sep, 2020 14:41

Civil liberties groups and legal professionals are sounding the alarm in the Australian state of Victoria over the proposed Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Bill, which would afford government officials the powers to arrest citizens.

The bill has been proposed by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and would also allow government officials to arrest people they suspect may spread the coronavirus through planned future action, such as anti-lockdown protesters.

Public servants, union officials, or any other government staff such as protective services officers and WorkSafe inspectors could be drafted in to enforce public health directions pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic, should the bill pass the upper house of Parliament in the state.
