I also refuse to give them any of my money, since the airlines have become tyrants. Not that they weren't already after 911. The airline industry have very intricate supply chains for labour and parts. They need to be careful who they piss off. If maintenance crews walked out the planes would no longer be airworthy. If safety concerns escalate they could lose the confidence of their clients. The governments would only make things worst if they stick their noses in to fix things. I highly recommend reading "Atlas Shrugged" where these concepts are demonstrated. When the state becomes so overbearing that industry and commerce collapsed by the exodus of talented skilled workers. The simple fact is that those taxes are a matter for the vendor and the government and the items on the shelf should have the take-home price on them and nothing else. At work I never bitched about taxes on my income because I saw my takehome pay as the actual salary I am being paid. The rest of it was not my problem except at tax return time where I am forced to pay attention. The money paying for the lethal injections and special police operations and losses of freedom comes from the tax base. Subliminally the tax collection scheme suggests we consented to what was done with it. It's that eternal "plus tax" mantra that sucks us in. Our government taxes the tax. Not kidding! Told them I am not interested and have lateral flow tests in the house anyway because the mrs is a nurse. They told me that I needed to take their test because it is for Bolton Council's official record! I told them to sling their hook. What they are doing is terrible. Most of them are more than happy at least currently in the west. A lot of people will give up their privacy, their freedom, their "rights" for convenience. It's not often talked about as people like us who value liberty and know the Importance often over look this. You've also got the aspect of not having responsibility and big brother looking after you. Domesticate the population, easier to control, then eventually kill.
