This topic is for all general discussion regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are of course numerous other related topics for discussing specific aspects of this pandemic in more detail. And there are other parts of this forum for more 'off-topic' discussions.

Brilliant. Have now had to remove the inside window handles at father in law's house (he has dementia) and because he's effectively been under house arrest for 12 weeks as paranoid mother in law keeps them isolated -  he now thinks he's in prison .. And his dead parents live round the corner.  He's tidy though. He takes his folded pyjamas and shaving kit with him on his escape from colditz  routine.

This is his last summer probably ...certainly the last meaningful one my mother in law would have spent with him. And what enrichment is there for people like him now all nhs support groups are closed? Online zoom sessions of sing songs.

Try explaining zoom to an 80 year old with dementia .

Even if he was in an NHS place, there's a lot of evidence these places, just like nursing homes in the US are just neglecting people and letting people die of neglect, then putting Covid on their death certificate. It's not because they're asshole who just want to see people die, it's because all of these workers have been feared into behaving badly and doing things that go against common sense.  Nurses have exchanged common sense for hysteria.

Personally cant see any normality returning before the 2nd wave. There may be an easing of these rules before the kids go back to school in September but that's only because they know kids wont wear a mask and social distance. It's a mess an absolute mess

Don't bet on it.  They're already talking about fixing all the school and class schedules to minimize the number of kids coming in contact between classes and before/after school.  They're going to have class sizes changed so desks can be spread far apart.  They're going to re-arrange lunch schedules to minimize the number of kids at lunch, and they're going to have the chairs spread apart, and they're going to have those stupid 2 meter footprint stickers in lines.  There's not going to be any physical contact sports.  They're permanently psychologically terrorizing our children to believe in this bullshit the rest of their lives.

You seem really worried about a second wave. You shouldn't be, this scam will be fully exposed to the public before the winter comes. There is nothing to fear.

You have to be ready for it andy. Cant just sit here and pretend it isnt coming because david has already said its planned and you know they are diagnose everything under the sun as Coronavirus this winter. The majority will fall for it just like have done this time round

Honestly wouldn't surprise me. No doubt they will come up with another orwellian rule for it.  They ain't dropping this or any of it 100% until they release the vaccine.

For example with this whole Covid stuff, we had the govt saying we would get to a certain number of years per day. Where are those figures now? What about splashing out on the temporary hospitals? Nobody seems to be asking questions about that. Now this track and trace nonsense is suddenly being pushed onto Google...what a surprise. The level and standard of journalism in this country is shocking. Nobody asks genuine questions.

I agree completely. hardly anyone questions anything, especially when it comes to the media.

A big deal was made about 'converting' these exhibition centres into 'Nightingale Hospitals', with lots of backslapping and 'proud moments' being reported by local figures such as West Mids Metro Mayor Andy Street.

A lot of money was spent on these, don't forget as well as 'renting' them from the property owners, they were also (allegedly) fully equipped. And yet in the main they have hardly been used, and you don't hear anything about them anymore, in fact some have probably since closed down without seeing a single patient enter.

So the biggest question to be asked here is, who has benefitted financially from all this?

Taxpayers money is literally being siphoned off into the wallets of private corporations right in front of our eyes. And all people do is stand on their doorsteps, cheer and clap their hands.

(Funny how that 'clap for carers' nonsense all came to a sudden halt too)

Every single number pops up? With a place name?   Well found shadowmoon (out of likes)
I know this would be explained away by some statistician by - there's a number for every place in the world and and a number for every person, in every place in the world - but that wouldn't cut it - this is a massive bullshit scam going on - in plain view?

It's living, breathing proof that most of the "news" on the internet is completely computer generated.  It's so startling how the proof of it is now right there.  This is no small thing.  This is one of the biggest scams ever, that most people are actually reading news on their phones, tablets and PC's that is completely computer fabricated.  What I am trying to say is, this is so big that there is no way we can ever get the common person out there to believe this, even if we show it to them.

I showed it to my wife and the cognitive dissonance going on in her head was all over her face.  I had her go on google herself and do it and she tried to come up with all manner of "explanations" to dismiss it, and when nothing she said could deny away what was happening she just refused to look at or talk about it anymore, like I was the actual problem, not the information coming back on the internet.

How would you ever get 2 billion people who believe what they see on the internet to actually believe that what they thought was news is not actually real and wasn't even written by a human.  It will be impossible.

Its exactly the same as the 'everywhere is warming twice as fast as everywhere else' Google results as exposed here:

I know what you're saying but I don't think they'll manage it on this scale a second time. Keep the faith, I think we have some twists and turns to come before winter.

It’s the Climategate debacle repeated.

Coronagate will be shown as a global hoax. Another globalist cabal failure to understand the power of individual people connected through a knowledge base that has seen the major players being linked to organisations rich in affluence and influence through media and education. To such people money is all the power they need. What they forget is that they are very few in number, and the people are very, very many.

They are involved in every uprising, every revolt, every element of unrest globally. Every war, every revolution. Every famine, every financial crash. Their power is in dividing people, creating imbalance – the haves and have nots.

The next stage will be the introduction of the second wave of the hoax virus, further draconian lock-downs, and food controls. It’s on the cards. Not until people are starving to death will they finally realise they’ve been had. Will it be too late? For many, it will be – the believers in vaccines and physical distancing, the clappers and pot bangers, the marchers and banner wavers, the spray painters and defacers. They are all one and the same. The gullibles following the White Witch. You can only eat so much Turkish Delight. They’ll throw up in the end.

But taken overall, they are but a drop in the ocean and they will ultimately drown. There will be a ‘resistance’, a core of bloggers and commentators maintaining a network of information that circumvents the censors at the Gargoyles, Faceaches and Twatters, gatherers of factual data, distributors of commonsense, linking to elements that will topple the ivory towers. How and when, I couldn’t possibly say, but it’s a tide that is coming.

In the meantime, exposure is the scalpel that lances the festering boil that has for generations grown – outgrown its unwilling hosts.

Keep on spreading the word.

This is an actual quote:

"Freedom of speech can only be upheld if the structural inequalities that hinder equal opportunities for underrepresented groups are challenged and changed."

Freedom of speech can only be upheld if we castigate and even punish people for exercising their freedom of speech. Even when they're saying something that isn't remotely controversial.

It's only during the lockdown that I truly realised what a decaying, moribund, intellectually bereft society we have become. Of course, I had a strong impression of this before! But it's been impossible to ignore the coronavirus situation. And it's been impossible to ignore the general public. And the reality of having their behaviour dangled before me has succinctly illustrated the frightening extent to which many people are literally trained like puppies by the authorities and the media.

People cannot think for themselves. You could, no exaggeration, make the majority of the population think, say, or do virtually anything. It would be challenging to completely dissociate the sexual act from procreation (although this has been achieved to a large extent), and have babies taken away from their mothers, as Huxley depicted in Brave New World. But if it was really deemed necessary or desirable then I would wager that you could eventually convince people to give up their newborn babies. It might take a couple of generations. But eventually people would accept follow the social programming and authoritarian diktats.

Because I've witnessed with my own eyes the most ridiculous behaviour. Every time I take my dog for a walk, people on their own are backing away from me so that they can obey the social distancing regulations. I mean, for fuck's sake, we're in the open air, there's only two of us, we're just passing by one another, only 5% of people in Britain have even contracted Covid-19 in the first place - the chances of transmitting a virus in these circumstances are so infinitesimal as to be basically non-existent.

I was talking to my neighbour the other day, and she won't let her child play with the other kids in the estate around our houses, where they usually play all of the time, as it would be in breach of social distancing guidelines. And both of these examples would have been unthinkable three months ago. Around 12 weeks ago, both of these people would have behaved in the completely opposite fashion, but it's taken just a few weeks to train them to completely reverse their customary practices.

When I witness this sort of behaviour, the future seems completely hopeless. We're already entering a massive economic depression, which is going to be far worse than anything in living memory. It's already estimated that it will result in the worst economic conditions since 1870. And what are people saying? We can't go back to work because it's too dangerous! We can't send our kids back to school because it's too dangerous!

The admitted government debt is now greater than the UK's annual GDP, but let's just keep everyone at home, and whack on a few hundred billion more. And then the same people will complain when there is more austerity, when there are cuts to government spending, when services are terminated. And they'll blame it on the Tories. It's not the fault of the system, it's not an overarching super-structure of elitists and plutocrats dictating conditions for the entire planet. It's Boris Johnson's fault that my local library has closed down.

We've already had the golden years of our lives. Now we're going to be steadily ground down with a combination of sustainability, snooping, monitoring, impositions on our lives, and micromanagement. The EU vaccination card and passport plans are already on the table. And people will actually welcome this, just as they've now been trained to celebrate the abolition of free speech. The most onerous conditions will be imposed on us, yet people will applaud like performing seals because we're addressing climate change, controlling the virus, and interviewing a black person for every job. There will be no need for a sheepdog; the sheep will police the sheep.

Don't worry, though, because the World Economic Forum has already decided that the future will be "fair, sustainable and resilient".

The first court date has been set for Simon Dolan's Judicial Review challenge against lockdown.

Update on Join the Legal Challenge to the UK Govt Lockdown

Our battle against the Government’s lockdown will go before a High Court judge on July 2.

The date – which will mark the 101st day since the UK was placed into lockdown – has been set aside for an application for permission to seek Judicial Review. This hearing is the important first step in the process and is the first official court date in our legal challenge.

It was set just days after the Government found itself under-fire following the claim in its defence papers that it had not ordered schools to close and that it was merely a “request”that they did.

The revelation sparked backlash from schools and parents alarmed over how the trick of words from Prime Minister Boris Johnson has meant more than 11 million children being out of school since March 23. Many private schools declared they would be opening regardless in September “come what may”, using hygiene measures and their own test and trace measures.

While lockdown means the hearing will take place via video link and not physically in the High Court, it will follow normal rules in terms of access to the public and media.

The Government will be represented by one of country’s top QCs, First Treasury Counsel Sir James Eadie. Its legal team also includes 3 barristers.

July 2 will be just over 100 days since lockdown and what has happened every day in this period underlines how important the Judicial Review is.

In that time, £2.5bn has been wiped off the UK economy each day, millions of children are shut out of school, the NHS faces a waiting list explosion, and the freedoms of liberties everyone in the UK have been trampled over. In all this time, the Government has shown the agility of a beached whale.

It has sought to kick this legal process into the long grass time and time again. Even its response was issued 3 minutes before the deadline. Its strategy seems to be to label our claims as ‘absurd’ and to shut down any scrutiny of the most draconian set of rules this country has known.

We have already forced the publishing of the SAGE meeting minutes, and unmasked the closure of schools as a trick of words from a government now trying to weasel its way out of a decision around education which is a stain on the history of this country.

There has been no democratic process on lockdown, which is why we must turn to the courts. Few people will realise there was a debate over the lockdown in the Commons recently. It is a disgrace that only a handful of MPs attended – a point made by some of the MPs themselves – this is why I believe the legal work to unpick the Government’s actions as part of the Judicial Review is so vital. Lockdown must end now.

The Judicial Review will seek to challenge the Government on three main points:

• Whether lockdown is unlawful because the Government implemented regulations under the Public Health Act 1984 instead of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 or the Coronavirus Act 2020.

• The legality of the continuation of lockdown, and whether the tests for lifting it are too narrow, failing to take account of the economic and social impacts of lockdown.

• Whether the restrictions brought in by the Government contravene the European Convention of Human Rights, which cover the right to liberty, family life, education and property.

We are represented by Michael Gardner of law firm Wedlake Bell LLP and barrister Francis Hoar of Field Court Chambers. Philip Havers QC, a barrister and Deputy High Court Judge who specialises in public law, human rights and public inquiries, is also instructed as part of the legal team.

What a guy!! That man with the megafone is top class, the shithead with the glasses needs to brush up on his knowledge - fucking lapdog mother fucker.

Everything is closed or boarded up and hardly anyone is in Leicester Square - economic nuclear armaggedon!   The How to Wash Your Hands tent is a complete waste of time and money.   The FLMF, as you accurately describe him, says he was wearing the mask because he came out of the Underground. Leicester Square Station is 500 feet away and he still has it on, just a FLMF wanker scared of the COVID. I liked when he tried to be a big man with threats of what he would do next time and bottled out and said I will do exactly the same, well he is scary dary. ?  Also he does not liked being filmed in public, well he should not travel on the London Underground nor walk through Leicester Square due to all the CCTV cameras not asking his permission to film him first.
