The King unveils the Astra Carta seal at a Space Sustainability Reception at Buckingham Palace

His Majesty The King has welcomed astronauts, business leaders, environmentalists and scientists at a Space Sustainability Event at Buckingham Palace.

 

To mark the launch of the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Astra Carta framework, The King has unveiled the Astra Carta seal, designed by Sir Jony Ive, in front of astronauts, business leaders, environmentalists and scientists during a Space Sustainability Event at Buckingham Palace.

While unveiling this seal he said we need this 'because we've rather messed up our planet'

 

I just want to make the distinction, because it's not clear,when he said 'we've messed up our planet'

 

He's using the Royal 'we'

 

It's an English language thing.

 

He means that He, and the Royal Family, his Government, Business Leaders, Big Business and Scientists who have messed up the planet.

 

Thats what 'Royal We've means.

 

It's not the typical Public 'We'

 

As in all of us.

 

It's the 'Royal We' which designates a select few, rather than the wider 'we'

 

It was the military that blasted nuclear waste into our oceans and atmospheres.

 

It was Big Business like ICI that dumped toxic waste into our sea, it's the Water Corporations that dump sewage and waste into our rivers.

 

It's the car companies that built polluting cars, it's the government's that outlawed by taxing alternative less polluting fuels.

 

The list goes on.

 

The scientists have stayed silent and compliant to Big Business.

 

So when he uses 'we' he's talking about the business leaders and scientists present in the room.

 

He's not including the normal people in the room or us the Public.

 

I thought that was worth pointing out.

 

The Royal 'We' is an English idiom.

So basically they've recognized they've messed up the planet and are putting guidance in place in an attempt to control themselves better in space.
